"You know what they call people like me?", he said. "They call us fools. Plain fools", he said as if answering his own question.
A good time passed and none of them spoke for a while. The silence between them could have been an hour long or it couldve been a few seconds. Shattering the vessel of silence the girl sitting beside him spoke," You are no fool, atleast to some people. Do you remember when we met for the first time. You saved me from my own delusions. While it could be percieved as cruel but it was a lifesaver for me. You could've forgotten about me like you always forget the people you save, reason being that you never help them because you want to, but you help them because it's what you are born with, the ability to make bonds with people you meet."
He listened while he looked at her face, fully grasping each and every detail of her expressions that changed with the emotions she felt. When her gaze fell on him once, she averted her eyes with her face beetroot red. "Please don't look at me like that,.....though I appreciate it. Just look anywhere but my face for sometime", she told him while watching him through the corner of her eyes, while he turned his eyes down. Did she feel relieved or disappointed at this, it was hard for her to decide.
"When a person helps someone or even just interact with a person, they have a bond formed between them, and it's upto them if they want that bond to continue and become stronger or if they just leave it like that and with passage of time it becomes old and withered and finally cease to exist. Though most of the people prefer to do the latter, in my case, I chose to grow the bond that fomed between us and I never thought that you would do the same.'
"There must be many others who still remember you and kept the bond that you formed with them alive, while you helped them, though you forgot about them. I consider myself lucky to not be among them. The thought of you forgetting about me....umm...kinda feels sad? Haha.. I'm off topic right...?", She said while still looking at somewhere around her left shoulder, in an attempt to hide her face."
"I'm glad you aren't watching me looking like this..", she said smiling covertly while her eyes welled up with tears of joy.
"Yeah, I'm not", he said, while still looking down and smiling at the reflection of her face in the lake that was clear and beautiful as the real one.
