But just too note, if you’re just doing a “gay contest” which is just a contest on sexuality, I think you should get rid of the gender queer options because sexuality and gender are two totally different things.

However, if you’re doing a “queer contest” you should still include the gender queer options, just maybe in a different pole or smth because, again, gender and sexuality are two different things, and only being able to pick one is kinda unfair ToT

If you choose with the latter, then you should call it a queer contest instead of a gay contest because just saying gay implies that it’s only sexuality based, which is fine, but based on your options for the characters it seems like you want to include gender identity too. Saying queer is a better umbrella term for this because it includes gender queer identities, unlike using the term gay.

I just wanted this too be brought to your attention, even though I’m aware that most people probably aren’t going to vote for a difference in gender identity (except for Mizuki, though she should have no competition), you never know, also I think including gender identity would make it more chaotic and fun!

I know this isn’t a character submission, but it kinda rubbed me the wrong way when you included sexuality and gender in the same pole without multiple choice, and I thought I’d let you know so you could consider it. If you need help with anything having to do with the queer community you can ask me, I’m not an expert but I’ll try to help :3

i’m fucking UNEDUCATED so this literally helps so much. i myself was confused when i tried to include both gender and sexuality into it, because i wanted this to be pride month related, so that would’ve included like sexuality AND gender but then i had a double take and was like “is this still a gay off?”

i’d said earlier i picked the name because it was funny to me (my humor is broken) but i can change it too. as for the poll, its meant to pick in general what represents the character the most. like mizuki can be chosen as trans but that doesn’t mean she can’t also be lesbian too, its just which one you think represents her the most, which honestly i agree is unfair but it’s so the brackets can be narrowed down quicker 😭 if i let everyone have both a gender and sexuality the next few rounds of voting wouldn’t make sense because then each character would have two categories.

which then goes back to your solution of making this purely sexuality based. that was literally my original idea but then i thought “well that doesn’t include EVERYONE” and just included both gender and sexuality because i didn’t want to look like i don’t understand pride month, which in doing that made me look more stupid 😭✌️

it’s too late to get rid of the gender queer options, so many people have voted and some characters already have a gender queer option in the lead for them, but that’s a genius idea to make things easier. i honestly should have gone with my original idea instead of over thinking it and adding both gender queer terms and sexuality based ones to the poll without the option to pick multiple.

again this is a “pick the best answer” type scenario but let’s be serious is there even a best answer 😭

I didn’t really realize that it was more about what represents the character, though I knew that was a part of it, I thought it had more to do with seeing who’s the gayest, and sorting them into queer categories was only a part of it. So this definitely clears that up :3
