I LITERALLY TEARED UP WHEN I SAW THIS IMAGE IT’S JUST SO FUCKING FIRE TO ME

There's that moment in DR where we first meet Arrakore where Nya is explaining to Sora that "Djinnjago got destroyed bc its sister realm was destroyed" and I remember seeing that moment and thinking to myself, jokingly, "wow Nya. Excellent use of the passive voice there. Way to dodge the truth huh". Except it never gets revealed that technically she's the reason for Arrakore's grief. We get to see Arrakore mourn his losses and then slowly regain his hope by rebuilding bit by bit the world he's lost and at NO point, EVER, does ANYONE point out that Nya is the one responsible for all of this. We don't get to see how Arrakore feels about having met the person who caused the downfall of Djinnjago, how he feels knowing that it was unintentional and impossible to avoid from the ninjas' persective, but it still happened. Even more importantly we don't get to see how NYA feels about all this. Sure she's seen Nadakhan and the shit he pulled upon learning his home was gone but this time it's just Some Dude whose heartbreak is not overshadowed by his own shitty attitude. She's seeing directly the consequences of her actions and we get... absolutely nothing from her about it.

And like, why? Skybound rarely gets talked about, which again, I get why, but whenever it's brought up Jay always gets to have his "umm, what if we talked about something else haha?" trauma moment. Skybound might no longer be part of the timeline but Nya's actions and their consequences ARE and yet we get NOTHING on how she feels about that fact. Zero acknowledgement it ever happened. (And before anyone comes with the "it's a reboot they don't have to bring up every niche thing that happened previously" excuse, if they could bring back the Tomorrow's Tea shit for Lloyd, I'm sure they could bring up Nya's literal True Potential moment too.)

I lowk disagree completely… yes he was a MASSIVE creep towards her at the end of S5-the beginning of S6 but he never really reacted in a way that gave off the same “I will force her to like me” energy as Bear, it was always “what do *I* need to change about MYSELF to make her like me again” (because remember, they HAD been in a relationship already, and from Jay’s perspective Nya had suddenly lost interest in what appeared to be a pretty stable relationship) hence his “I wish I wasn’t poor and from a junkyard” wish later on in the season.

So, we have to separate the “one wish willow” and the Djinn rules for wishes. With the willows, there’s no limits except for the fact you only get one wish. In Djinn (Nadakhan) rules, you can’t wish for love (more wishes, or for harm).

We all know how Jay wishes to change himself to appeal to Nya more, but using it as an argument is useless, because the latter option, wishing for Nya to “love him more than anyone else in the fucking world” wasn’t even an option! He knew the rules, and he knew he couldn’t do it. He opted for changing himself

Before, in S1, Nya and Jay have their first date and Jay changes everything about himself. Apparently he invented spinjitzu, and was a boy scout. Lies to make himself more appealing because yes, he is that insecure (Jay you don’t start your relationship with lies that why you broke up eventually!!!!!!!). You could agrue that than he also changed himself to appeal to Nya, but the latter option, wishing for her to love him, wasn’t an option, so you can’t.

And let’s not forget that the second Jay heard he can wish (force) Nya to like him, he wanted to jump on that idea. That was his plan until Cap. Shoto told the team the rules of wishing. He verbally reacted with “What do you mean you can’t wish for love!?” …What did you think he wanted to wish? Self-love, or for Nya to love him?

His behavior, though undoubtedly uncomfortable and obsessive, was always based on his own insecurities and a desperation to fix them in the hopes that it would solve whatever went wrong with him and Nya so I doubt he’d make a wish to alter her feelings rather than something like “I wish I was the kind of person that Nya would love” (which could still backfire but only really for Jay himself). Again unlike Bear who barely even knew Nikki as a person and instead only saw her as an object of attraction to pursue out of selfish desires, Jay had made the effort to get to know Nya early on into the series and actually had the damn guts to ask her out himself (and their date again is an example of what sets him apart from Bear, instead of deflecting his insecurities in a way that blames her (insert Bear’s “what’s so bad about loving me” bs) he instead makes up things about himself in an effort to mask who he is behind what he thinks is a much more interesting and likable personality and hides himself away when he begins to turn into a serpentine. Once more asserting the idea that if he were to have a one wish willow pre-Skybound his wish would be about “improving” himself rather than forcing out Nya’s affection)

Jay’s behavior was more about wanting to get back together rather than “fix” anything. He mostly just wanted to get to that time already where Nya and him were already happily together, like he saw they would be. That’s where he mindset already was, “don’t worry, right now we’re just having our first fight.”

The comparison between Bear and Jay is exact, yet irrelevant. You don’t have to be a certain person to wish for something. Person A and B could both wish for a billion dollars, but person A could buy 6m cans of coke while person B donates everything to charities. Both sides, extremely different, still wishing for the same thing.

I am not at ALL implying that Jay’s infatuation with Nya didn’t grow into a serious issue in the series or that it didn’t 100% need to be addressed (I LOVE Skybound and its much needed character arcs) but I am saying that it was nowhere near the scale of Bear’s manipulative and extremely selfish tactics and his insecurities were portrayed in a different form (outward vs inward projection)

Separating the paragraphs because it was getting to long, and to emphasize my point. The comparison between the two characters is irrelevant for the wish.

But, since the comment mentioned it, it’s right. Jay and Bear aren’t nearly identical besides insecurities. They both want to ask a girl out, and feel like (in Jay’s case) they’re not good enough to deserve that love, or they’re not brave enough to face the rejection. Two different reasons! Nothing alike.

As the comment mentioned before (but it was irrelevant to the wishing part), Bear only liked the idea of dating Nicky (ergo, the montage of them having the best 2 weeks of Bear’s life), while Jay actually cares about Nya (ergo flipping out on Cole when he joked while Nya was in danger, flipping out on Cole when he heard him “getting between” his and Nya’s relationship (what did he do?? Lol), and so many more examples!)

Jay’s into Nya, Bear is into the idea of Nicky as his girlfriend.

So, nobody is saying anything about Jay and Nya having a “what’s so bad about being with me?” scene. That’s something Bear would do, while Jay answered in his head a bajillion times. Bear wasn’t afraid she didn’t want him for who he is, he was afraid to be friendzoned (rejected). Jay was also scared of being rejected among many things, but mostly afraid it was because of who he is and where he came from

After making the wish, Nya would be acting weird, Jay would notice and stop it. Timeline wise, right after the car ride. The moment Nya does something ooc (like with Nicky, breaking down crying about her sick father, which she doesn’t even cwre about), Jay would realize and stop it. And yes, by stop it, I mean kill himself in order to save her, to make up for his actions. We collectively agree that, right? He’s no bear. He wouldn’t take so long to take pills, then even have the audacity to try and throw them up.

Lastly, I’d like to note that I agree with the take (not my debunk) if it weren’t any other season. S5, would never, S4, would never and etc. but S6? Did. And will. Because he had that option.

Let’s glance back at Kai’s wish. He wants to go back in time before Nadakhan and Clouse, back when bad guys like them weren’t a problem, and back when girls were crazy for him.

Yes, this is dehumanizing and only uses girls as some kind of boost for his ego. He could’ve just said when he had tons of loving fans, but what good would that be if a character in Skybound wasn’t sexist.

But it’s nothing like Bear’s wish. In a sense, at least. Kai wished for something real, something that happened. He just want to teleport back to the past minutes ago. Bear just wanted to experiencew girlfriend. In a way, they both got crazy girl(s, in Kai’s case) ruining their lives
