29/01/25: this blog has become an archive for my old work! my new art blog is @silkensails (read this post here for details)! 💜

long time no art, isn’t it? well, it’s for a multitude of reasons—but the most relevant one is that I’ve been considering starting anew for a while now. what I mean by this is moving to a fresh blog for a fresh start. and imagine my luck when I did my obligatory check for whether the hyphen-less @silkensails handle was still taken…only to discover it was free! soooo…

with this lucky username claim, I felt it could be fun to make the move. I have no plans to delete or deactivate this blog; I would keep it up as an archive, with links to my new account. I’d also reblog stuff from my new page here. not to mention that I have an ace attorney sideblog which I don’t want to lose haha.

you may wonder why I’ve chosen to switch blogs but not change any of my branding. simply put: I’ve established myself with this username on various platforms since 2020, and I’m still fond of it! this change is more to do with my growth as a person and an artist. I started this blog as an inexperienced, troubled 16-year-old during lockdown, and honestly, a lot of my years-old work feels so dated lol. I think every artist battles the cringe of seeing their old stuff.

I'm a different (happier and healthier) person now, and I definitely view my early works as being from an Old Silk Era. in other words, I’m not a teen anymore, and I’ve matured in terms of my craft and decision-making. as such, I want to move forward and improve—with this old blog becoming an archive of a younger, less-experienced me. now feels as good a time as any to refresh and re-establish myself as an adult who has already learnt a lot on my journey.

I hope that the friends, mutuals and connections I’ve made along the way will carry over to my new blog! I’m so grateful for the amazing people I’ve met through the platform, and want to continue to make art and make memories :]
