Well…I know that she cares for me greatly, and it is much appreciated, of course, but she can be…overbearing, at times. I do wish she would let me explore outside the Citadel more often, but I suppose I shall have to make do. It isn’t as if there is anywhere else for me to call home.

“Grand Mother!” Silian rushes into the silken monarch’s quarters, the haunted servants struggling to keep up with them. “I apologize for the time I have been away. Rest assured, it was not my intention to worry you.” They have been gone for many hours, though from the servants, you could see that they did not, technically, disobey your instructions. They had taken a rather long route to return to the Cradle, such that before they had arrived, they were informed their commission had been finished. They had been collecting glass pieces to give to the glass-worker. Still, they are unharmed, nor are the servants, and they have not left the Citadel. They fidget with their cloak nervously. “Um…may I ask a question?”

"you have been gone for less time than we expected. It's good that you're back so soon. What do you need of us? our baby."
They seem relieved at her calm demeanor, but nervous still They take a long breath, not looking up at her, as they speak again. “W-why must you speak in the minds of those who offer goods and services, to threaten them if they demand payment? Could you not, simply, send a notice to them? Or…issue a formal warning. It seems…rather…well, unnerving. And- and how? How can you see into their minds, anyway? It does not seem a necessary power.”
"our children deserve the best they can get. They shall not pay and I care not how I get that message across. The mind reading comes from how every bug in Pharloom has some level of silk inside them. My silk. I can use that to communicate with them or haunt them as I please."
“Then, if a bug had no silk inside it, you would not be able to see its mind?” They seem to be considering something. “Thank you, Grand Mother. I understand now.” They start to leave to another part of the cradle, reaching into the pockets of their cloak for something.

A very strange-looking bug approaches, wearing a yellow cloak far too large for it, and with the head of a cracked weaver, with silk seemingly growing out from inside it. They’re stuffing little bits of scrap metal inside the pockets of the cloak, and they are followed by several of the silk-haunted Citadel servants that wander about Pharloom. They seem to be trying to hide both nerves and annoyance, though they are doing a rather terrible job of it, especially in their voice. “Hello. You are the glass-worker, yes? Do you, perhaps, do…custom pieces? I shall-“ they cut themself off mid-sentence, as if remembering something. They let out a small grumble.

"Yes, that's me, my dear. I can definitely do custom pieces." She responds.
"Tell me, what is it you need?" She then asks.
There's a slight tremble in the mantis's body. Barely noticeable as she sees the haunted servants.
“This may not be possible, given the complexity, but…several lenses, of sorts, and a bulb.” They pull out a stack of nine or ten papers from within their cloak, and hand them to Phyriales. They begin to speak rather excitedly, gesturing rapidly with their hands. “I have detailed the specifics here. One lens must simply be clear enough to read through, and the other is intended for usage in photography. It does not need to be a particularly clear photograph, simply one that could be made out. I have yet to build the mechanisms in which these lenses shall be used, so any size or shape shall do, so long as they are small enough to be carried, though I have specified the ideal shapes and dimensions.” They pause, breathing for what seems to be the first time since they began to go over the details. “My apologies. I have gone far too quickly; after all, I am unsure that this is a task that could be asked of you. The camera lens particularly requires special procedures. Though I have detailed those as far as I was able to within the plans” - they gesture to the stack of papers - “I have never done such a thing myself, so I know not the true complexity of it. Is this a commission you would be able and willing to take?”
"Oh no worries, I like hearing others talk." She looks at the papers.
"Hmmm, yes, these plans are very detailed. I believe I can do this." She says.
"The bulbs will be the easiest but I would have to do some special procedures for the lenses to be of the right quality." Phyriales thinks out loud.
"I would like to let you know that replenishing my supplies is a way to reduce the cost in rosaries." The mantis addresses the Weaver.
“Ah! Yes, I would certainly be able to do that. What supplies do you require?” They turn to the haunted servants for a moment, seemingly giving them…some sort of warning glare? They are clearly very nervous as they pull a blank paper and a quill from their pocket. “I shall make a list, so that I do not forget. Oh, and-“ they tear a small section of the paper, quickly scribble something onto it, fold it in half twice, and hand it to her. “Just a…small detail for the lenses. I suggest you look at it at a time that is…not. Now. Er, so you will be able to, um, put it all together.”
OOC: the paper, whenever Phy chooses to read it, says: “She may interfere with the payment. I shall do all I can to ensure that you are paid well for your services, but I have no choice in the matter. If you are unable to complete the commission under these circumstances, do not tell me directly. Find an excuse.”

Oh. Right. She remembered the voice, the threat. It was very kind of the strange one before her to be fair. She nods in understanding.
"Well, the components of glass are the silica in sand, limestone to strengthen it and soda ash to lower the melting point. It's also a great alternative to safely gather old pieces of glass to recycle." She informs the Weaver.
"I'll make sure to call you when I am done, my dear."
Silian nods. “Thank you. I must be going now, but I shall attempt to collect pieces of glass for you, and I shall bring them when I return.” They leave, the haunted servants following them.
After the Weaver's return, the mantis is ready.
"Well, I made one of each. I would like your opinion if this is to your liking, my dear." Phyriales presents some prototypes.

"Is this how you would like the rest to look like?" She also pushes forward a note for Silian to read.
It says: She is in my mind.
They wince upon seeing the note, and mumble something under their breath which you cannot quite make out. Looking at the pieces, their eyes light up. “Yes, this is perfect. Thank you. These will be excellent for my r- er, projects. Oh, and….” They reach into their cloak, pulling several old glass pieces from the pockets - what looks to be a windowpane of sorts, a small vase, several broken shards, and a small glass cover, akin to the ones in the Memorium. “I have found these littered about the Citadel. It is…surprising, how easy it is to find discarded items. I hope they shall be of use to you. I must return home, now, I have been gone for far too long, but if possible, I shall be sure to bring more materials.” Tucking the pieces carefully in their cloak, they scurry off again, as if they are in a great hurry to be somewhere.”

I require several glass parts for one of my, er…projects? May I visit them? Y-you may send servants, with me, and I promise, I shall not do anything else, I shall come back immediately.”

They nod, though they are seemingly somewhat disturbed. “Thank you, Grand Mother. I shall return soon.”
“G-grand Mother?” Silian stumbles into your chambers, falling to their knees as soon as they enter. They are wounded all over their body, and their silk is filled with sand and…
…void.
They are covered in void, in fact, it seems to be leaking from their body. And one of their arms has been turned entirely, now only strange tentacles. Their voice is shaky, and though they seem close to fainting, you can still make out a fair bit of fear on their face.
“P-please…forgive me…”

Her child covered in void.
"not my baby..."
She could not hug them, that would be too dangerous.
Fear grew in her voice like the roots of a weed.
"how could this happen to my baby?..."
She could not save them, she did not know how to save them. She is failing as a mother.
"who did this to my baby!"
She could not protect her child.
"WHO IS TO BLAME FOR THIS HAPPENING TO MY BABY!?"
She hugged sillian.
She can't lose another.
"I will fix you."
She began calling over every servant, she filled each with a little bit of void from sillian, and then cut off the strings connected them to her. She was ten servants in, not nearly enough for this amount of void.
“I-it was no one’s fault but my own.” They seem somewhat disturbed by the servants being filled with void, but they are too exhausted to ask about it. “I f-fell…when I was coming back…do not worry, I shall be fine. I…I am sorry for leaving. I should not have gone on my own, then I would not be hurt…”
They try to hold back tears and hug the Grand Mother back with their non-voided arm.

“N-no…I can be left alone, I promise. I will be f-fine. Do not worry.” They reach out for her hand. “You did n-nothing wrong.” Tears are running down their face now, but they are black and leave stains on their shell. “I…I was- the village, the Weavers, they-“ They make a choking sound. “They do not want me back…”
"and that's why mama is here... Mama will always love and want you... Just be quiet for a moment, that will make the void hurt less..."
Void was beginning to stain her, that did not matter. Her child was in more danger than her, she could grow this silk back in an instant.
80 haunted servants down.
They seem disturbed by the number of servants being filled with the void. “W-what…what will happen to them? Will they die? Do not sacrifice them for me, please, I can manage-“
Before they can finish their sentence, their voided arm, now more akin to a tangle of tentacles, lashes at the Grand Mother’s face. They turn their body just in time to prevent it from hitting her, and grip the writhing mass to their chest. They stay silent, not arguing any longer.

She's basically wringing them out now, the best she can without hurting them. It's still a bit painful though, not as painful as the void though.
390 servants down.
They let out small whimpers of pain as the void is twisted from them, but they remain silent otherwise, for a few minutes. Their face become more and more concerned with each servant, until they cannot help but speak again. “P-please do not hurt them. They do not deserve this. I will be fine.” They try to wriggle out of her grasp.
It is working, though. The mass of tentacles has become much smaller, and the stains in their silk have turned to a dark gray rather than black.
She does not listen. It's her child over everybody else.
"shhhhh baby shhhhhhhhh. Just let mama do what she must to save you...."
495 servants down, they're almost empty, just five more and there is no more void left.
They do not argue any longer. It is of no use, the servants will die no matter what they do. They just stare at the servants filled with void, letting now-clear tears spill onto their cloak.
500 servants down, sillian is free of void, her child is finally free of void.
"you did so well my child... Now I think you should have a bath, you're covered in sand. Would you like some bath toys while I clean you?"

They shake their head. “No thank you, Grand Mother. May…may I leave afterwards? I would like to- ah, go…somewhere…”
"no, you will not go anywhere without me ever again, a mother has to look after her children, especially the ones that are prone to accidents like this."
She takes sillian to a large bath and fills it with what for the size of the bath is a small amount of water. She thoroughly washes them while doting on them for "being so brave" and "listening so well to mama."
They do not seem to enjoy the bath, and stay near completely still the entire time. “If I cannot leave…is there perhaps anything I could use here for my…project? I have all the tools I need, I simply need a few more materials…”

They let out small whimpers of pain as the void is twisted from them, but they remain silent otherwise, for a few minutes. Their face become more and more concerned with each servant, until they cannot help but speak again. “P-please do not hurt them. They do not deserve this. I will be fine.” They try to wriggle out of her grasp.
It is working, though. The mass of tentacles has become much smaller, and the stains in their silk have turned to a dark gray rather than black.
She does not listen. It's her child over everybody else.
