ANGST | he was too harsh on you :(
It all happened too quick.
One moment, you're fighting against formidable pirates, next you're getting chewed out by your captain.
"You reckless idiot! You could've gotten yourself killed!" shouted Law. There was a visible vein popping in his temple from frustration and you couldn't help but feel...scared.
You held your ground despite the state you're in, "It wasn't reckless, I was only trying to protect the crew! I didn't know that pirate had hidden explosives!" you rubbed your side where shrapnels had pierced you. Law only scowls in anger and the infirmary room seems to shrink.
"Of course you didn't know. You never know anything! Like knowing how to stick to the plan!" He spoke harshly and it struck you uncomfortably.
You couldn't understand why he was so pent up. You're pirates, after all; danger is a given, so this anger seemed unprovoked. Words of reasoning flew over Law's head as he spewed more insults. Tears began to well and sting your eyes.
"Tch...if I had known you were this clueless and weak...I wouldn't have dragged you onto this crew." The words escaped before he could stop them. He felt the regret before seeing your reaction...
....And it hit him like a train. Lips wobbly, hands trembling, shoulders tense and seemingly curling in on themselves; as if you were trying to make yourself seem small.
The words pierced you like a frozen knife, making your blood run cold. You've always had doubts about your place in the Heart Pirates. Many like Bepo would reassure you, Law would tell you to not be stupid in an affectionate manner, but it felt like their efforts were dumped into the ocean thanks to his words.
Before he could speak up, you bowed your head, squeaking out a small, "sorry" and rushing out the infirmary and into your quarters.
The soft shut of the door stung more than it should have. Law stood there frozen, left with the words echoing in his ears.
"Damn it..." He whispers.
If only you knew that this anger was a mask for his fear, stemming from the loss of loved ones in his past.
