So, uhh.. I did some looking (consulting the drill crew), and apparently those weren’t runes.
In short: there is now a literal portal to god knows where in the south mines.
in long: It was a portal… because of course it is. I don’t know who put it here, or why it’s here, but it just so happens that corporate won’t let us stop drilling.
the good news: The portal WAS sealed, and we repaired the drill.
the bad news: The drill opened the portal, so now our drill’s in another dimension, corporate’s angry, and the foreman got turned to ASH.
