Bad Idea?
TLDR: You make a nest cause you’re cold. Dan Heng finds you chilling in it.
Warnings: none(just sweet tooth fluff!)
Your teeth chatter, your skin riddled with bumps all over as you try to heat yourself up. Times like this require more blankets but honestly? This was getting really frustrating, scratch that, DAMN ANNOYING.
You wiggle off your bed and stare at it for a long time, thinking of solutions. Large heating pads? No… you’ll start to sweat, just asking to be cooked alive! Blanket pile? You’ll feel suffocated! No.
“Hmm…”
The verbal hum escapes you, thinking of what to do— then it hits you! Birds make nests all the time, maybe if you compact it the way they do… maybe it’d be comfortable! Besides, who says a human can’t nest?
That made you chuckle, thinking of the slightly silly fanfics you’ve been reading. Pulling blankets from your closet and slowly building it up. The wall was mostly comprised of pillows, blankets overtop so they don’t slip around. You stare at your work before completing it with your sheet on top.
You take a moment to admire your work, oval shape to fit you perfectly. You smile in victory, huffing at the slight humor of it all before getting cozy dead center. Pillow comfortably under your head and comforter overtop the entire thing. It was actually quite cozy, you see why birds do it. Super effective.
You started to relax finally, your toes no longer freezing and the chattering in your teeth completely gone. You were just sitting there for a good 15 minutes, watching the cute cat videos March had sent you… only for someone to knock on your door. You wanted to groan, you’re all warm now! How could this be disturbed now of all times?!
“Come in!”
You call out, the door sliding opening and revealing the handsome guard. Oh god, Dan Heng was gonna see your silly idea—
“I just wanted to ask, is there anything specific you want for…”
He looks up from his tablet, staring in confusion at your creation.
“… what is this?”
You wanted to melt. You let out a nervous chuckle and smile, cheeks slightly hotter. Was it the blanket nest or embarrassment? You couldn’t tell.
“I… was cold.”
Dan Heng is contemplating for a while, wondering whether to question if you’re a bird-hybrid or if you’re pulling a Trailblazer on him.
“… you were?”
You nod, sighing in pure embarrassment.
“I was, I swear. I just can’t figure out how to change the temperature in my room. I remember how birds… nest… and I… copied it?”
You sounded so embarrassed and unsure, as if the words weren’t actually comprehending.
Dan Heng stares for a long while again, mind boggled. Clearly.
“Is it weird?”
You spoke out, sheepish and shy all of a sudden. Dan Heng shakes his head quickly in response.
“No. I just find it… cute.”
He realized what he says, stammering for a second.
“Oh, what I mean is—”
“You think it’s cute?”
Oh, he’s done for.
“I…”
He stumbles a bit, completely caught off his guard. He was literally here to ask you about dinner but you’ve decided to pull the cutest stunt in his book. His cheeks slowly start to match yours, his mouth finally moving again.
“I do.”
You two stare at each other, the silence deafening. It’s not until you decided to ask him a question.
“Wanna bundle up with me?”
He wanted to say no, that they’ll be making dinner soon. But this time, he just sighs with a small smile. Moving closer and placing his tablet onto your nightstand.
“Fine, only because you asked me too.”
He’s use to the routine of cuddle time with you, shoes off, coat off. Thats it. He doesn’t mind. They’re bulky anyways. Once he settles down next to you, he realizes how cozy it is. You immediately entice him with videos March sends, cute cat videos and small fail comps she sends to the group chat. The two of you enjoy this moment.
Only for Pom Pom to yell at you that dinner is almost ready.
AN: Oh my gosh! HIIIII I HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS SHORT!!<3 the support is crazy cool and I really appreciate yall so much! The reposts get me all giggly! I swear! I’m glad yall like my silly works!
Call me old school or whatever but a headcanon I’d love to see played out more often for Dan Heng is watching you sleep. No not in the stalker-y way or creepazoid way. Like how Pearl(from Steven Universe) watches Steven sleep. Like something to protect kinda way. Like bro— he won’t wake you up cuz he feels bad enough and already holds grudges on himself(that PMO HE DESERVES LOVEEEEEE) and he’s not gonna slip into your bed unless you tell him you can(consenting king, we love and trust)
Lowkey imagine waking up to a small thump and seeing Dan Heng’s eyes in the middle of the night, literally glowing. Obviously you’d either scream or just deer response but after a second he apologizes. Like genuinely super apologetic. Like explaining why he was there, cuz he had a nightmare that died in his arms and he just had to make sure you’re okay. After that you guys would cuddle.
GAAHHH ITS SO CUTTEEEE AND SILLY CUZ ITS LIKE A CAT SITTING AT YOUR BED AT NIGHTTTT.
As you can tell, I’m lowkey obsessed with this goober of man. Please don’t flood my room<3
SPOILERS FOR 4.2!!
Warnings: slight mention of throwing yourself off a building and slight gory description!
TLDR: You and Dan Heng meet up after defeating Fulwish, exhausted and both needing a well deserved nap after the eventful day.
You had taken two steps into the Passenger Car to be greeted with the AC on, the heat of battle had made you feel like a leather chair in summer. You see Trailblazer and March already getting comfortable and resting on the couch together. But right now? You wanted to go lie in your room, without all the bulky clothes.
You weren’t terribly shy about your appearance, it was more precautionary than anything. Gauntlets, pauldrons, things to protect you from heavier hits… something developed after a previous accident.
Once you got to your room, the heavy gear gets placed onto a standing(headless) mannequin. Something you acquire from March recently. You stare at the metal for a while. The gleam of your tired face said it all, you needed a well deserved nap.
You trudged over to your bed, the moment you hit the sheets it felt like heaven. Cold. So cold. You honestly wished Dan Heng was next to you so you could freeze up rather than be a hot—
“Ehem.”
You weakly turn your head and see Dan Heng with his tablet. A sheepish look on his face.
“… after today. I’d rather have my sights on you.”
You’re quietly registering his words, bold? No. Oh.
“Oh. Yeah sorry—”
He sighed heavily, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Please. Never swan dive after trailblazer like that again. I did not need to think I lost two people today.”
He slowly sits down next to you, staring at the tablet as he types quickly.
Anxious. Clearly overwhelmed.
“… you don’t need to type it out now.”
He looks at you, a blank expression where worry should be for a normal person… never good with being animated.
“I have to get this done before I—”
“Five minutes. Just relax for five minutes.”
He’s quiet, looking at you like you’ve grown a second head. There it was. The reluctance that slowly ebbed into acceptance, the sigh that follows was what made you smile.
“… five minutes.”
He slowly turns the tablet off, trying to refrain but he’s too late. He’s accepted his fate here. The moment he rests his head against the pillow, your arms are around his shoulders. Your head buried into the crane of his neck, practically tugging him your way.
“So unfair… cool as ever.”
He groans in annoyance.
“You’re sweaty. Off—”
Not budging. He tries again but nothing. He huffs in frustration before taming his irritation, carefully placing the tablet onto your nightstand and wrapping his arms around you.
As upset as he seemed he was, in fact, in bliss. Holding you safe and making sure you were bouncing off pavement into a bloody mess was the first thing on his mind.
His head slowly shifts, resting his chin onto the top of your head and a hum slipping out of him. It takes a moment before you realized he had quietly slipped into his Imbibitor Lunae form, long hair draping over his neck and messily splayed onto your pillows.
“… thank you.”
He softly mutters, you just grasp him a little tighter. You don’t need to say anything this time, just holding him was enough.
The comfortable silence makes you wonder, what Dan Heng feels right now. You lift your head to ask, just a simple “how are you feeling” only to see his eyes fluttered shut. His chest’s pace was slower than usual.
Asleep.
Oh—!
You say there, staring before smiling.
“Okay. Five minutes.”
You tuck yourself back into his grasp, closing your eyes and taking that well deserved nap.
AN: OMG HIIIII Hope yall are doing alright after this recent patch!! Tell me how you liked(or didn’t) enjoy the new patch! Anything you saw that you found interesting? I’ll go first! Shuhu’s flesh being used in the happiness surgeries! I was so shocked!
I see yalls reblogs— it’s cute to see your reactions to my stories :•]

Writing this after listening to earrings by Malcom Todd, peak btw.
He’s staring at the ceiling. He was hoping for sleep but… it seems to evade him tonight. He rolls over and slowly picks himself up. Sitting up and staring at, pretty much, the empty space before him.
God. He wishes he could love you the way you love him.
Loud. Bold. Willing to show entire galaxies that you belong to him.
But he never had the words to even say how much he loved you or how much he cherished you, let alone to the whole world.
You had such a beautiful smile, that’s something that’s never been lost on him. But he just wanted the words to say it. For once.
“Dan Heng?”
You. Your ever so gentle way of saying his name. God he loved your voice.
“You okay? Heard you tossing around while I was out to get a cup of water.”
Such a mundane thing. You’re probably doing the small little hobby you’ve been so passionate for the last week. He couldn’t help but smile at that thought.
“Yeah. I’m fine. Just feeling a bit restless.”
His words lied once more. He wasn’t just restless— he wanted you. So badly. To hold you tight and to never break the hold. To care for you till his own molten rebirth. To love you in his next life, even if it means sinning again.
“Want me to stick in here for a bit?”
Oh how you were so smooth. Understanding what he truly desired without him even saying it.
“Please, if you don’t mind.”
You smile and nod, bringing yourself in and getting comfortable next to him. Already lying next to him like you belonged in his space. He lies beside you, looking at you with his softened gaze.
He knows you find the mattress a bit uncomfortable, so he had already went ahead and gotten some extra bedding to put on that spot for you. Even if it meant waiting for him.
“You added cushioning?”
He nods.
“To your own bed?”
He hesitated. Was that too weird? A bit odd?
“Was this for me? I know I complain a lot but gosh. You didn’t have to change your space for me.”
There you go again. So considerate of his space. His things. But you were his, and now he must readjust such things for you to fit comfortably.
“It’s fine. Besides… does it feel more comfortable?”
You sigh, nodding to his question.
“Yeah. It does. Thank you.”
You nuzzle your head into his neck, laughing nervously like you always do.
“I’ll see you in the morning.”
You softly spoke, yawning before letting your rues droop and falter. Your hair brushing against his face and making him smile.
“See you tomorrow.”
Wow! THIS WAS SHORT! I’m sorry! I’ve been in a large hurdle for the last month or so! Tomodachi Life is coming with a new game and with the whole grace&pressure situation, I’ve been juggling between sorrow and excitement.
It’s a lot on my mind and honestly? I’m not budding in, I’m gonna avoid pressure related things for now and just move on. No adding on to everything when it’s all said and done. I’m mostly gonna focus on Tomodachi Life and my fav best boy, Dan Heng!
[Pre-AN/before writing 1: hiii I’m doing pt2 for the last one! Uhhh since yall really like it??? I’m kinda lowkey surprised and happy! I’m terrible at writing and knowing people like my goofy stuff feels surreal. I hope you Dan Heng lovers love this just as me!]
Pt1 here!]
Warning: Blood/Nausea/Major Injury!
It wasn’t suppose to be like this… not one bit. You glance over and see the blurry image of your friends calling out to you, March sobbing your name. Your chest felt oddly exposed, like there was a cool breeze brushing against your bones. Your clothes felt like there were soaked in hot water.
Why?
Why did you feel like this?
Right…
His claws had slashed your flesh, your chest and ribs bared for your friends to see. Your brows furrowed as your hands weakly attempt to hold pressure on the wounds. You felt the huff of breath against your ear.
“Pitiful little human… you think you could’ve stopped me with your puny arms? Ha… don’t make me laugh.”
His eyes meet your barely opened ones, a gleam of hunger behind them. You felt sick. Haunted by the claws boring your blood, the scent of metal in the air. You watched as he chuckled low, making you cringe in disgust.
“I can’t wait to eat you first… so I’ll keep this short.”
His large claw slowly grasps upon your paling body, lifting you up. You felt your blood rushing down your sides, like a glass with a crack, before he simply tossed you aside like loose scrap. You immediately had crumpled to the sidelines of their fight, your consciousness waning as you peer out to onlookers staring horrified or running away.
why…
Your vision started to grow dark in the corner of your eyes, your body felt heavier each second. Your breaths shallow as the pain lessens slowly. The only warmth that seemed to surround you was underneath you.
I don’t want to die.
💠✨💠✨💠✨💠✨💠✨💠
You softly gasp, your body felt hot and sweaty. The room spun slightly. It didn’t even look like the express. You wondered where you were.
This felt like one big dream. A huge nightmare that you can’t seem to escape from.
But as your entire body jerks up, you cringe. The pain and snug wrappings around your body told you otherwise, that it had actually happened. Your ears rang, making your head ache as you try to relax enough to just think. After a bit, you catch a small portion of a conversation through the thin sliding doors, Dan Heng and a femme voice you couldn’t quite recall ever hearing.
“It’s going to be awhile before they could tend to harder tasks, try to avoid them lifting heavy objects or gym equipment.”
She paused before continuing.
“Try not to let them strain themself, many patients have come in here multiple times because of that reason. Breaking stitches just because they think they could handle more work than they should.”
Dan Heng sighs.
“Of course. Thank you again, Lingsha. For helping both them and the others.”
Dan Heng spoke with genuine gratitude to her expertise.
“It’s just my job to make sure my patients heal properly.”
She hums before seemingly remembering something, snapping her fingers.
“Oh, that’s right. Make sure the trailblazer lets them use the Tuskpir. That will stave off nightmares for a while. Knowing the incident… it had surely carved a sizable dent in their mental state.”
Lingsha… you assumed she had seen the aftermath of your bloodied state, that slowly added to the horror of the situation further. That too many people had seen your body practically shredded by the large mutt. You wanted to curse, to scream. It was too exposing.
You sigh and adjust your position again, holding in a whine of pain that burned in your throat. Body sore from being ripped apart by that mangy mutt. Your head spun once more with the thoughts that came rushing in. The utter guilt that plagued your mind for not even getting a chance to protect your friends.
You hated this.
You hated feeling useless.
The others… were far too forgiving of you, at least you believed so.
You stare at the ceiling for a long while, still mulling the situation. Your mind racing and heart pounding at the phantom of Hoolay’s disgusting claws digging into your flesh as if you were tenderized meat ready for consumption. Feeling shame. Feeling overly vulnerable. You don’t often feel like this but…
You felt like shit.
💠✨💠✨💠✨💠✨💠✨💠
The days following were rough on you.
The crew had took it upon themselves to divide up tasks to assist you throughout your healing, trying to keep you sane during the nightmares and pain that lingers about.
Himeko and Welt had done the biggest part of your care. Food, water, moving you carefully around the express, and so forth, they made sure you weren’t left too physically impaired.
Caelus, March, and Pom Pom helped with your sanity in this. Watching movies together or having Pom Pom dress up, Welt would periodically join in with bizarre ideas for them too. Caelus would lean over and ask a few questions, clearly confused with a movie or to show you what game he was playing. It made you feel a bit better that they were still even including you.
Lastly, Dan Heng. He was night watch, making sure your bandages were changed and that you’re sleeping throughout the night. He never said much during this time, eyes glancing a bit too quickly at you before darting back to the data bank.
But it’s never easy. Nightmares of your flesh being torn, the gazes of the crowd, and that terrible chuckle followed by his desire to devour you. The ghostly remnants of his actions leaving impactful scarring, both mentally and physically.
Or the lack of appetite. It felt wrong after everything. Food felt like flesh, making you gag whenever you finished anything. How the pain got so bad that you couldn’t even stomach a bite.
Sometimes, even your chest ached. You didn’t want the crew to worry so much about you, to be burdened by you. You were doing nothing, absolutely nothing. How could they still want you? You’re not useful anymore. You hoped they never seen your pitiful state. You never want to be vulnerable again.
💠✨💠✨💠✨💠✨💠✨💠
You had just woken up from merely a few minutes of dozing prior, Dan Heng fully believed you were asleep.
“I’m sorry.”
His tone was hushed, sacred. Like if he had spoken any louder, you’d stir. You didn’t realize till a second later that the warmth around your shoulders wasn’t the blanket, but rather his arms clinging to you. His fingers grazing across the bandages that wrapped parts of your wounds.
“When we came to the scene— aeons. There was a lot… your blood…”
Your eyes kept shut but you felt horrified. Horrified that he’s seen you in your shameful state. You were growing nauseous.
“… I’m sorry you went through that.”
You swore you felt something brushed against your cheek, your skin felt colder against it.
After a moment, it lands onto your cheek entirely. His hand. You thanked the lights being off, you’d be embarrassed if he had seen your skin blooming into a sickly rosy color from your growing nausea.
This was wrong.
You had prayed less people had seen your misery, and yet he had. Another soul who’d feel pity for your lack of skills. Was this Hoolay’s last cruel joke on you? Or maybe the universe making a laughingstock out of your suffering?
“Sometimes… I get those dreams about you.”
His thumb grazes your skin, his small attempt of comfort with his lack of skill. Your heart stopped, that disgusting bubbling started to melt away for a moment.
What dreams?
What is he talking about??
“I can finally recall some details, most of them very similar to… what happened. I… I wish I could’ve prepared for this.”
Dan Heng immediately took refugee into the crook of your neck, being gentle as possible to not jostle you around too much.
“I know fate’s unpredictable, but I’m glad you’re alive. I’m glad you’re still breathing.”
Your mind’s restlessness stopped. It was confused. Dan Heng— he cared? How— why?
“I hope you rest easy. I’ll be here to protect you.”
He softly sighs before finally finding sleep. You open your eyes slowly after, taking a peak and seeing Dan Heng resting his head between your shoulder and collarbone. Eyes shut and breaths soft against the exposed skin. The weight of his arm and head made you slowly grow drowsy.
You lied there, eyes staring at the ceiling and heart racing now.
Oh gods.
Oh gods your face felt hot.
Was this a crush?
You took a shaky breath before your eyes flutter shut, finally letting the small flutter in your chest blossom. You’d think about this more in the morning.
[POST-AN: HIIIIII I hope yall like the angst in this one. It’s got a slight cute ending but I kinda don’t like it this time around, but I hope you guys like it!]

[POST-AN: HIIIIII I hope yall like the angst in this one. It’s got a slight cute ending but I kinda don’t like it this time around, but I hope you guys like it!]
[I love my wife]
Cuz yall seemed to really enjoy the short stories I got, I’m not sure why since they’re not even peer viewed.
Pt2 here!!
Slight Blood/death mention, if you’re uncomfortable then please don’t read.
💠 💠 💠 💠 💠 💠 💠 💠 💠 💠 💠 💠
Dan Heng was lying in bed, restlessly moving around and forehead glistening with sweat. Another nightmare plaguing his sleep once more, but it was different. Not even like his, normally, foggy dreams he usually has.
You.
He’s never met you, yet he keeps having dreams of you. Dreams that always lead to your death. Your beautiful hair wet and stained with blood. Your eyes that seemed to glimmer at him before dulling in a heartbeat, one that had stood still in your chest as he checks your pulse every time.
But he never remembers your face when he wakes up. As soon as Dan Heng awoke, he’s groggy and sweating bullets, but can never recall exactly why. His chest feels painfully heavy and his heart is racing a little too quick in his ribs after he regains his bearings.
When Ms. Himeko asks if he’s alright, he can’t really reply with a proper answer. Only a simple “I’m fine”. He doesn’t really know how to feel since he could never remember what he had seen in his dreams. He’d even just go about his day mulling the details over as much as he could, trying to recount the events of his dreams only for that attempt to fall flat and make his head hurt.
💠 💠 💠 💠 💠 💠 💠 💠 💠 💠 💠 💠
When Caelus came back to the express dragging a familiar face with him, Dan Heng immediately spat his tea out. Something that surprised March, patting his back as he coughs and regains his composure from the sight. He recognized your face, the Deja Vu following after made his chest tighten.
“Heyyy guys! Can we keep them??”
Caelus had a huge smile and you… were a bit flustered, seemingly by Caelus’ enthusiasm at the situation. The group seemingly greeting and learning your name all the while Dan Heng sat there, staring at you as if you were a ghost of his past.
After some back and forth between the group, you joined the express officially. Which you were smiling so happy about, staring at the shining express badge hanging from your clothes.
“Thank you for allowing me to join you all, I really appreciate it.”
March and Caelus perks up immediately at your words, jumping to say something to you.
“You don’t gotta thank us!”
“We’re just glad we got another buddy joining our shenanigans!”
March looks over at Caelus after his comment, a deadpanned expression on her face.
“What? Can I not have a buddy in crime to rummage through trash with?”
March groans and gently punches his shoulder, shaking her head in annoyance.
“You’re so gross!”
You laugh, the goofiness seemingly sticking to you now…
But Dan Heng? He’s not settled at all. He’s completely zoned out, staring you down like you had done a terrible thing. All while the reality was that he recognized you, but why? Why did he? Why did your face hurt to look at? Were you from his past? Maybe something he was never told about? Did Dan Feng have a friend? A lover—
“… um… speaking of— who’s that…?”
You glanced over to him, worry on his expression.
“Oh Dan Heng? He’s… wait, Dan Heng what’s that expression for?”
Caelus walks over, a bit concerned and taps his shoulder. That jerks him out of his mind’s rapid firing, he blinks a few times before looking up at Caelus.
“You good? You look like you saw a ghost.”
He doesn’t reply to Caelus before standing, taking Caelus’ hand off his shoulder. Trying to flee before he figures out why. How could he stay? What if you’re apart of his past life? What if he’s walking into a trap from you? He wasn’t risking this ache he felt in his chest just by looking at you.
“I just need to rest, that’s all. Sorry.”
Caelus was about to say something, only for Dan Heng to leave in a hurry. Caelus and March glance at each other then back at you.
“Dan Heng’s never done that before, sorry about that.”
March quickly spoke, feeling a bit perplexed at the odd behavior. Caelus sighs before following Dan Heng to his room, leaving you and March in the Parlor car.

Caelus knocks onto the Archive’s door, waiting for a response.
“Come in.”
It’s faint— but there. The door opens and closes quickly, Caelus coming up to Dan Heng’s desk.
“What was that?”
Dan Heng doesn’t reply, staring at the Data Bank’s screen with furrowed brows.
“Is this about those weird nightmares you kept muttering about?”
Dan Heng’s head snaps over to Caelus, shocked.
“You heard me?”
Dan Heng was utterly embarrassed. Caelus, of all people, had heard his nonsensical muttering about a dream he couldn’t even remember. A dream that had drove him up the walls to just to remember it.
“Uh— yeah? You’ve been acting weird because of it for the last 5 months dude.”
Caelus heavily sighs before sitting onto his desk, earning an annoyed scoff from Dan Heng.
“Have you thought about just talking to them? Or maybe learning about them? That’s what you did with little ol’ me!”
That goofy smile Caelus actually made Dan Heng consider it, considering just… getting to know you. To grasp the strange understanding he had towards you. He finally concludes he’s going to do it but he needs some time to think of how. If you were from his past incarnation then maybe he could learn to tolerate it, to care for you like anyone else on the express.

You had been quietly doing your own thing, reading some books that both Ms. Himeko and March recommend to you. Cute romance novels about knights and princesses or old school vampire novels, it was nice to read through them. It showed what kind of things those two enjoyed, which made you happy that they’re involving you into their interests.
It’s not long before Dan Heng comes to the Parlor car, pajamas on and Data Bank in hand. He casually walks to you and sits down like he didn’t just flee earlier that morning.
“… hi.”
You stare at him for a moment before smiling softly.
“Hey.”
The two of you were in silence before Dan Heng glances over, softly sighing.
“Did March show you these?”
You nod, glancing at him and noticing a small smile form onto his face. You tilt your head slightly, trying to understand if it was real. It was. And the surprise in your mind was also just as real.
“What’s got you smiley?”
You had blurted the words out, cringing slightly at the wording only to watch Dan Heng’s reaction slowly shift. It goes from slight wide eye before his gaze darts away, avoidant. Probably embarrassed from the words too. You figured he was usually not talkative to others.
“I’m just glad March is finding more people to discuss that novel. Apparently it’s a rare copy from a special edition of the series.”
You look down at it again and back up at him, finding March’s previous gesture of giving the book to you even more precious.
“Then I should take extra care of it for her.”
He takes a glance back at you, that gentle— oh so familiar— smile. His head was spinning, it’s like Deja Vu. So mind numbingly recognizable, and yet he’s never seen a spec of you till now.
“… when you finish those books… would you like to read some in the archives? There’s a few historical fictions that I personally read myself.
That made you perk up, staring at him with such joy. His face felt like it was on fire now, the way your gaze genuinely glitters at his words.
Fuck.
“That sounds nice, thank you.”
Oh he’s screwed.
[AN: Heyyyy, hope yall enjoyyyyy idk if I want to continue this in another part so lemme know how yall feel about it!]
Let’s go, decided to make something to bring softness for Dan Heng. The holder of our world and our most beloved savior<3
What had happen on Amphoreus? What had changed him so drastically?
The questions linger before a gentle hand rests upon your face, gold cladded gauntlets hesitating with each little movement.
“I’m home.”
Those words stung, like saying a truth that you two have never truly spoke about. It takes a moment before you finally register the words, the way his eyes softened for you, the way he naturally smiled at you.
You were the home he was looking for.
You leaned into his hand, your palm pressing against the cool metal. Your eyes lingering at the new clothes and bigger build he had put on after the journey.
“… yes. Yes you are.”
Dan Heng leans down, gently tipping your head up and gives an expression one could describe as a pleading. You softly sigh, smiling at him and slowly wrapping your arms around his neck.
“How could I deny the man I never stopped loving?”
A chaste kiss was then placed onto your lips, a slip of laughter hums from the two of you. As you pull back, he rests his head onto your shoulder. He sighs heavily for once, his emotions finally cracking from the solid stone walls he’d kept up for so long.
“… I never thought I’d get back to you… but I never stopped fighting, to get save the Trailblazer and to get to you…”
His walls had crumbled in Amphoreus, the loss of a comrade, the endless years of loneliness, the pain of possibly never seeing you again… it practically made him break inside.
“Shh… I’m here. You got back safe and sound, that’s all that matters.”
It’s quiet for a moment, his voice shaking when he does speak again.
“Can I be with you tonight? I just… want to make sure you’re real.”
Oh, that broke your heart.
You don’t hesitate to deny him, letting him keep you close was something he needed desperately now. You didn’t quite understand what hell he’d gone through.
“Of course you can. I won’t ever deny you that.”
You gently rub his shoulders, the tension slowly dipping but still present.
“Thank you.”
That night, the two of you were lying in bed. You were peacefully asleep in his arms before he started muttering in his sleep, gripping tighter with his arms and tail.
“Dan Heng…?”
You rub your eyes and find his forehead starting to bead with sweat, your hand gently brushes the slightly damped bangs to the side.
“Dan Heng… it’s okay, I’m right—”
Once you move his bangs from over his eyes, his gaze meets yours. You jump a bit before laughing.
“You startled me…”
He stares for a long moment before muttering an apology, his hands refusing to let go. You’re quiet, hands gently touching his cheeks. You noticed him start to tear up a bit.
“Nightmares?”
You spoke softly, only to receive a nod from the tired raven haired man before you.
“It’s okay, I got you. I promise I’m not leaving.”
That made Dan Heng immediately bury into the croak of your neck, sighing shakily at the idea of losing you or anyone else on the Express. You two finally find some peace, Dan Heng on your chest and listening to the beats of your heart and warmth for your, usually cold, hands.

Holy biscuits, how are yall finding me this quick? Well— thanks for reading the posts I got up now. I plan to write more as time goes on, just tired and sloshing around as a human being.
Here we are with round two, might as well write while I’m up at ungodly hours.
You had taken a spot across from Sunday, sleeping in the main car of the Express. He was peacefully sleeping, something that seemed to evade you again for the fifth night in a row. You wanted to groan and cry from frustration but you had no energy nor did you want the light sleeper across from you to hear your distress.
In the midst of trying to sleep, you decided to doom scroll in the hopes to find some meaningful rest. That’s when a certain guard decides to message you…
Getting up felt like unsticking Velcro, your body was sore from your travels into the cosmos alone. Bruises and scraps from previous battles stung slightly when applying pressure on certain spots
You get through the Express cars… albeit not caring about the noise you make in the meantime.
You open the door and there he was, sitting at his desk with his back turned to you. He looks back quickly, eyes softening.
“… cmon in.”
His voice was softer, careful… he knew what kind of state of disrepair you were in, so in turn was doing his best to be careful with you still.
“You don’t gotta say it like that.”
You quickly snap, brows furrowing at his tone. You close the door and make your way over to the desk, pulling the small stool that he had kept in the room for you.
“Look… I get that we’re still in this weird phase. This… trying to make up for things crap… you don’t gotta do that. I’m fine.”
You rest your head onto his desk, the coolness of the desk satisfying a small heat growing on your face from the embarrassment. Being this close was something scary for you… but to Dan Heng, it was sacred. It meant you trusted him still. Maybe not by much but it still meant something regardless.
“I won’t argue with you about this right now, I just want you to try to be less grumpy in the morning.”
A snort slips from your lips, those words… struck a bit humorous this time around.
“Okay— okay. I’ll… I’ll try to sleep, but I can’t guarantee anything. We’ll just have to wait and see.”
Your eyes close and a soft sigh escapes, hair slowly falling from behind your ear and covering your face a bit. Dan Heng watches as the tension in your shoulders slump a bit. He got up and quickly moved over to his things, grabbing something.
“Lift up…”
He gently spoke, tapping your shoulder. You lift up just enough to meet his gaze and the neck pillow in hand.
“Just to lessen the pain you’ll get from sleeping like this.”
You don’t quite smile at him, something in between annoyance and exhaustion lingering on your features before you slump back and onto the desk again. Dan Heng takes up the chair next to you once more, gently draping his coat over you and typing on the data bank. Recording the recent ventures of Amphoreus onto the tablet.
By morning, your back hurts and Dan Heng willingly offers to massage you. You think about it before letting him.
[ AN: Hope yall enjoyed, I’m exhausted myself and hope this helps me get some rest in the meantime<3]
I’m not use to writing fics at all so excuse my lack of creativity here and there. I’m doing this cuz major life events have kinda made me feel like an ass and honestly? It’s better to vent it through writing.
It wasn’t suppose to be like this.
You weren’t suppose to show up just yet, he hadn’t even had the time to think about what he wanted to say or do. The amount of apologies he had in the back of his throat.
There you were, tired eyes and arms crossed. Talking to the rest of the crew like it was nothing. He can faintly recall a time when you smiled at him and now… there was nothing but a blank expression there. Caelus, obviously to Dan Heng’s poor feelings, drags you up as if you’ve never met before. You didn’t say anything, simply staring him down. The tension only growing thicker with both of you standing face to face.
Dan Heng has never admitted to it but he had a fling back when he was still wandering, still escaping from his past. A fling with a perfect version of you. You had accepted him with open arms, allowing him a space to retreat too… but he didn’t want you to get hurt. Not by Blade, not by the preceptors, not even by him. So he left. Left you grappling with the aftermath alone and confused.
“… Dan Heng?”
His name being spoken flatly garners his attention once more, his eyes blinking a few times in surprise before relaxing.
“Nice to meet you…”
His voice almost trembles on your name, almost. The words come out as smooth as he could in his current state of anxiety.
“… guard of the express, huh?”
You spoke, eyes ever so slightly softening before looking around. Caelus had left you and Dan Heng to mingle for a while, doing his whole “make Dan Heng talk more” bit.
“… yeah, I am.”
The two of you stare for a long while, clearly both understanding the gravity of your situations.
“Look, I—”
Before he could slip the words out, you lift a hand. Shushing him from continuing.
“… it’s fine. I was just… wishing we had more time. That’s all.”
Those words my his chest ache. He needed you to stay. He had to make you stay.
“… we have time now. It’s not like I’m running for my life anymore.”
The slight joke on his behalf lingers for a bit before a soft snort escapes your lips, a faint smile appearing.
“… I suppose not. And it’s not like I have anywhere else to go… with the whole “home being gone”.”
Dan Heng is quiet. He’s never heard of this.
Oh aeons.
He wanted to comfort you but didn’t know if he should give you that— after all he had no right to. He was internally struggling.
“Sorry.”
You softly spoke, frowning deeply at him.
Aeons no, don’t apologize.
Dan Heng gently reaches out, like trying to be gentle with a wounded animal. He takes your hand, peaking towards the others to make sure they weren’t being watched before squeezing your hand. Something he had rarely done in the past.
“Don’t apologize to me. You have nothing to be sorry for. Especially since I…”
He hesitates before saying it.
“I wronged you. I wronged you back then and I can’t take back what I’ve done… maybe I deserve your silence, your coldness.”
He watches your brows furrow before you turn your head away.
“… well… we can’t turn back time… I suppose since I’m gonna be here. We can make up for it, yeah?”
He looks shocked. Why? Why would you make up the lost time? Did he not just abandoned you? Especially when you were in need of someone too? He thought for a long while.
Dan Heng is quiet before nodding.
“I’d like that.”
The guilt was gnawing at him. Gods did he wish he could be swallowed whole sometimes but… he’s glad he could repair this, even if it’s a slow process. Being able to make up for his mistakes one step at a time is better than thinking about how he’d apologize to you for days on end.
Thanks for reading this dumb little short bit. I’m stressed out👍
