The Sohma Tiger

Big tiger shall comfort little tiger.

Hikaru was pretty good at giving advice. Being the captain of a sports team, of course he had to be good at it, but that was also just how he was too. “Good.”

When she asked about if he knew the Sohmas, Hikaru smiled more, nodding a bit. “Yeah. I know Kyo-kun, and Yuki-kun, and Hatsuharu-kun.” His face took on a slight blush when he said the last name, but it was subtle, and he kept a mostly stable expression.

kisa smiled hapily as he listed her cousins names. “it must be so nice going to school with all of them.” kyo still kind of scared her to be honest, but the others were actually some of the cousins she was closest to. she thought she noticed a slight change of expression when he mentioned haru-nii’s name, but she didn’t say anything. “i walk home with haru-nii sometimes though, so that’s nice. i wish i could see him more often.”

Slender fingers gently cupped the young girl’s cheeks as worried greys gazed at the young girl. “Are you feeling alright Kisa? Is something the matter?”

“Ahhh.” He understood that. He didn’t have as many problems now, but when he was younger he got picked on a bit, so he still remembered how it felt. “I know how that feels.”

Hikaru reached out, patting her head. “I was picked on a lot when I was younger. It’s better now, but honestly you really just have to ignore them as best as you can if people are being mean. It usually means they’re jealous too honestly. If someone picks on you it’s usually one of two reasons. They’re either jealous of you for something you have that they don’t, or they’re going along with someone who is picking on you out of jealousy because they don’t have enough personality of their own so they have to copy someone else to feel like they’re a part of something.” Compared to how he usually spoke, that might sound a bit harsh, but it was the truth, and there wasn’t really much of a better way to word it. “Just hang in there, and you’ll be okay.” He paused a moment, before adding. “I’m Hikaru by the way. I’m the swim captain at Kaibara High. If you ever need help with something, feel free to ask.”

kisa looked up into the boys kind face as he spoke and she felt herself relax a little. tohru-nee and haru-nii were good at soothing her when she got upset, but this particular line of thought was somehow something she hadn’t thought about as well as more reassuring than most pep talks she’d been given. she nodded as he finished speaking. “i’ll try to remember that for next time,” she murmured. 

He smiled and gave her a gentle but still comforting sort of hug. He knew how it felt to need one of those. 

“Of course.”

He was just a kind-hearted person. “If you wanna talk about anything, I’m happy to listen. I know that I’m kind of a random person, but I’m really good at listening.”

Doesn’t know her, but is happy to offer hugs anyway. He never could leave anyone sad and alone.

She didn’t know him but he gave off a very calming vibe. It was nice so instead of freaking out like she normally would she gave into the random hug.
