This is no where near all the ways you can charge things so feel free to add to the list or send me other methods. I intend to go back and add to it occasionally.

Fire

Draw it on paper (or something safe to burn) and burn it

Draw it on a firework and set it off

Carve it into a candle, light it, and let the sigil melt away

Place it close to a flame to absorb the light and heat

Air

Draw it on wind chimes and hang them up

Draw it on a balloon, blow the balloon up, and pop it

Water

Draw it on something soluble and dissolve it in water

Draw it on a rock (or something non-soluble) and place it in running water

Draw it with something food safe on a tea bag and drink it (It’s more using a sigil to charge the tea, but whatever)

Draw it on yourself then take a shower and let it wash away

Earth

Draw it on something biodegradable and bury it

Transfer energy from previously charged crystals

Light

Place it in the sun or moonlight

Draw it with/in something that will disappear: lemon juice on paper, fog in a mirror, etc.

Paint it with glow in the dark paint, the light used to charge the paint and its own glow charges the sigil

Technology

Place it on/under a device that is plugged in and charging

Open the image on your computer and play a video game on top of it

Use the sigil as your background or screensaver or just leave it up for a while to be charged by the screen’s light and energy of the computer

Open the sigil in a paint or photo editing program, cut it to pieces, and delete them (like you would tear up a piece of paper)

Place the sigil on/near speakers and play music (match the music to the intent of the sigil)

Post the sigil on social media with the intent that it charge with every like/reblog/thumbs up/etc.

Personal Energy (Mental and Physical)

Direct your own personal energies into the sigil (How to)

Draw it on yourself or something you have on you as you exercise: dance, run, play sport, etc.

Draw it on the bottom of the shoe and walk around on it all day

Have the sigil on/near you and focus on it as you have sex/masturbate and orgasm

Have the sigil on/near you and focus on it while experiencing pain

Have the sigil on/near you and focus on it while experiencing extreme emotion

Add a drop of blood to the sigil

Other

Sing or play an instrument to it

Place it in a music box, wind it up and let the music charge it

Draw it on paper and tear the paper up

That’s a great question! Here are some ideas:

Draw it in fertilizer

Draw it on the tag that comes with the plant

Draw it on the watering can

Draw it on the plant food bag

Draw/paint it on the pots

Draw it on the plant bed

Draw it on something biodegradable and plant it with them

Draw it in the soil

Paint it on a rock and place it in with the plants

I’ve gotten asked about sigils quite a bit so I figured I’d make a little (or not so little) masterpost about them. Before I start, I would like all of my lil witchies to keep in mind that magick is not a cure all, it can only assist. Please do not rely on it to solve all your problems. Keeping that in mind, let’s get going ~

What are Sigils?

Well, here’s the dictionary definition. Basically, its a symbol created to aid in completing a goal. They can help with nearly anything you desire, but keep in mind that magick still has its limits. Even the most powerful witches can achieve only so much. Sigils cannot give you superpowers or grant any wish. Like i said, they AID in bringing you closer to a goal. For example, if I wanted to pass a test I could make a sigil that states my will (“I want to pass my test”) but it’s still up to ME to study and prepare for the test, the sigil can only help. Or let’s say I want to get healthier, I can make a sigil to help me with my health but it’s still my job to take care of myself. 

Do NOT get confused between sigils and runes or scripts! While yes, runes and sigils both serve a magickal purpose and can look very much alike, they are not the same. Scripts, as the name suggests, are just other ways of writing. Some witches use these or make their own. There are also alchemical symbols, feel free to look those up since there are just too many to show here. Some scripts are:

Runes are from the ancient Germanic alphabet and are used for divination. Typically they are made out of bone, wood, or stone. They look something like this:

How do I make Sigils?

There are a few ways to do this and they range from easy to harder, but each is just as credible as the next. Don’t let anyone tell you that one way is better than the other, just do what fits you best! Make sure that after you make a sigil you charge it with energy so it can help. Without energy it won’t work as well, or at all. NOTE: Be careful when you choose your intent! Phrasing it wrong can cause big problems! 

Try going to the website www.sigilscribe.me This website works well for wills/goals longer than one word. (check my earlier posts for what some of these look like, or go make your own!)

Use a sigil wheel. Start at the center and draw a line to the letters making the word you want. It looks something like this:

You can also draw a circle with the alphabet around it. Like the sigil wheel, just start at the beginning of the word you’re focusing on and continue from there. 

Write out your will as a sentence. Cross out any vowels or repeating letters. Use the remaining letters to inspire a sigil of your own making.This may take a while and it may take a few tries to get it to your liking, but that’s okay! And I know some of you may think “but this doesn’t look anything like a sigil! Am I doing it right?” The answer to that is yes you are, there is no right way a sigil should look. Some sigils may look more complicated than others and that’s totally fine! If you’re satisfied with the look, go for it!

How do I charge Sigils?

There are LOTS of ways to do this, so just pick the right one for you. I’ll list some but don’t think you’re limited to these!

Write on yourself, especially near a major vein or artery, or while you’re doing exercise. 

Write it down and leave it in the sunlight or moonlight. (Be careful of the sunlight however because it could make the sigil fade)

Make the sigil your background on an electronic device and charge it overnight while the device is charging. 

Write it down and burn it (be careful!)

Write it down and run water over the sigil.

Write it down and play music near it that matches the goal.

Draw it in your food and eat it

What do I write it with? What if I need to hide it?

You can write it with anything you please. Some witches prefer a certain writing tool, such as I like to write in my Book of Shadows with a fountain pen. If you need to hide it, you can write it in makeup that matches your skin tone, invisible ink, or even a white crayon if you need to put it on the wall or something. 

Where else can I learn about Sigils?

You can ask another experienced witch (I myself am still a beginner) or look online. If you want to as well, you can go to your local library or bookstore and find a book about Sigils or Witchcraft. There are also lots of sigil making blogs on Tumblr, you just have to look for them! If you’re going to use a sigil from another source, make sure you have the author’s permission to use it or at least credit them. Here are some sigil blogs:

Is it okay to use pre-made Sigils?

Absolutely! There’s no wrong way to practice the craft (as long as you aren’t hurting anyone, including yourself) so it is up to your interpretation. If you feel better making your own than borrowing, go for it! 

P.S. Just a cute lil idea, try painting sigils on pretty rocks and placing them around your house! Not only are they cute, but they’re functional!

Well there are 2 types of ways to make a sigil work.Here’s a quick post on which method is best for what result1. Charging

Giving the sigil energy periodically to keep it working (think of it like charging an electronic)How:~Pouring personal energy into it     Place both hand on sigil and visualise your energy flowing from your body into the sigil

~Sun/Moon Energy     

     Place the sigil somewhere it will get good exposure to sunlight or moonlight and the sigil will absorb the energy from that.    (Note: Sunlight and Moonlight have different magical properties, so you should look up what those properties are before doing this)

~Charged Water/Watercolour          Dripping some charged water (think sun/moon/storm/or otherwise charged) on the sigil.     Some people add watercolours to the water they plan to put on the sigil with an intention-based colour to drip onto the sigil. OR you could draw the sigil with these watercolours instead so it’s automatically charged.

~Tracing/Kinetic Energy          Constant movement on a sigil can charge a sigil. This can be done by tracing over it with your finger over and over again till you feel it’s charged enough or through other means like tapping it or putting it under something people regularly step on.

~Heartbeat          If you draw or tattoo a sigil on yourself that sigil will be constantly charged by your heartbeat.     You can also put a sigil you’ve drawn over your heart or wrist somehow and as long as you wear it your heartbeat will keep that sigil charged

~Electronically

     Have a sigil pulled up on an electronic screen while the device is charging

~Other          There’s thousands of unique ways to charge a sigil, the ones listed here are just a few, feel free to look around the witch tips on tumblr or try some different stuff yourself

2. Activating

Destroying the sigil with something that often creates a quick burst of energy, sending it out into the universe to be done.

How:

~Burn it

~Rip/Shred/Cut it up

~Stabbing it

~Ingesting it

~Flushing it down the toilet

~Let it blow away with the wind (if it’s biodegradable)

~Any way you can think of that destroys the sigil
