mi-e greu să îmi imaginez un fenomen care să reziste 300 de ani… acum, nouă ni se par îndepărtate evenimentele de acum un secol…

ce încă mă mai impresionează acolo, este contrastul între gloria, prestanța de atunci, și modestia (ca să nu zic sărăcia) de acum…să-mi fie iertat, majoritatea dintre cei ce acum trăiesc aici, nu merită moștenirea extraordinară cu care au fost hărăziți…
