sid smiles slightly as birdie approaches her, eager as always to get her hands on their most recent photos. with a slow nod, sid says, ❛ hey, birdie. uh, i'm still working on editing a good chunk up in my room. ❜ her brows shoot up in question – if you want to come up – and she tilts her head towards the elevators.

( @supernovainfo ) // ruby has had a rough tour so far. they finally had it out with izzy, they lost a freaking grammy to their old band, and they didn't get a single kiss during the pride celebration. she just felt defeated and very un-glittery. they had planned to go out to a local bar at their current tour stop, so ruby was, of course, glittery on the outside and dressed up head-to-toe. but they seemed cemented in the hotel lobby with a sullen look on their face. was it even worth it to dance tonight?

sid had been cooped up all day in her room sorting through tour photos from their most recent stops. her head was pounding and her eyes were feeling strained. when her stomach grumbled from the lack of nutrients, she'd finally decided it was time for a break, so she figured some fresh air to go pick up dinner was in order. when she enters the lobby, she sees a familiar figure clad in a shiny outfit. as she approaches, she notices the look on ruby's face and immediately her shoulders drop, sending her friend a look of concern. ❛ hey, rubes. you okay ? ❜

"you guess? i literally haven't been able to stop listening to it, and everyone on tiktok is calling it the song of the summer. my video with it got 2 million likes," amy assumed sidney would understand what a big deal that was. she saw photographers blow up on tiktok all the time, especially tour photographers. though come to think of it, she hadn't seen any videos from sidney, prompting some unsolicited advice. "you should try posting some photos from the set to tiktok even though you're not working. people love tour photographers, it makes them feel like they're part of the tour family."

❛ good for you ? ❜ sure, sidney was well versed enough in music marketing and pr and all that good and boring stuff that required entirely too many charts and graphs and strategy meetings to ever really pique her interest. after all, she'd had to cultivate her own small business back when she'd just started out. but these days, with praises of her work occurring more through word of mouth from satisfied clients, she hadn't felt the need to really care about things like tiktok likes and instagram followers. she simply did her job, and if she needed to do it better for some reason or another, she did just that and moved on. in some way, sidney could appreciate that amy was probably just trying to help, more attuned the way the youth could be appealed to. but that didn't necessarily mean sidney had to listen. ❛ uh... thanks. but i'm good. i don't even have a tiktok and my instagram and my website have worked well enough all these years so, ❜ she responded. ❛ but i have been planning on taking more photos of the behind the scenes stuff. with all the movement, i've just been focused on trying to get enough stage pictures. ❜

"no worries. are you having fun?" gemma noticed the camera in sid's hand. of course, as was expected. she didn't think she'd ever seen the other without a camera permanently attached in hand. "bet you'll get some amazing shots, and i can't wait to see 'em. promise you'll show me later?"

sid gave gemma a grateful smile when she reached out to steady her. ❛ yeah, i'm good. thanks. ❜ she shifted a bit to give the two of them more space, head on a swivel as she looked around to make sure she wouldn't bump into anyone. her eyes followed gemma's as they landed on her camera, a sheepish grin appearing on her face. ❛ yeah, it's... it's all kind of amazing, honestly, ❜ she said, gesturing to the celebrations surrounding them. with a nod, she responded, ❛ yeah, of course. i promise. ❜ with that, her eyes start scanning the scene again, always looking for a good shot. she knew it made her come across a little distracted, a little scatterbrained, but she'd known gemma and clover for a good amount of time now ( introduced to them by ruby, of course ) and they'd gotten used to this kind of behavior from her. her head turned down, fingers clicking through various settings on her camera as she spoke, ❛ how about you ? how's your day off going ? ❜

"uh, yeah, we had to get a good spot for the mulholland drive set. i mean, i know that's your ex on stage and all, but don't you need to get good photos for the tour socials? you're welcome," amy said with a gracious hand against sid's arm. despite the disgruntled looks of those around them, she was completely at ease leaning against the railings and eyeing the stage. "so are you loving the new single or what?" she happily made small talk.

she stared at amy, brows scrunched together in disbelief. ❛ well, actually, they got someone else to cover the set today, ❜ she said, matter-of-factly. she shifed her arm from under amy's hand as smoothly as she could ( which was not very ). she wasn't sure what prompted the tour directors to give her the day off, but apparently one of their newer photographers was in amsterdam that weekend for another artist and before she knew it, sid had been relegated to backup. she supposed that her upcoming break had something to do with it, wanting to make sure the other photographers had the mettle to cover anything big while she was gone. ❛ besides, if i wanted a good spot for photos, i could just use my press id, ❜ she said, pulling it out her pocket to show amy. but if there was anything she'd learned about amy, it was that it pretty much didn't matter what she said so long as amy's logic made sense to herself. so she did her best to ignore the grumbling around them, prepping her camera to do some work anyway. amy's small talk wasn't completely unwelcome, but sid wasn't quite sure what to say about the new song. ❛ it's... good. catchy, i guess, ❜ is what she went with. over the years, she'd spent enough time with mulholland drive to know that it just wasn't the same as their older stuff. maybe that made her a sucker for nostalgia, but she liked to think it was because she used to be able to hear the passion in the music, from izzy, from ruby way back when. and she missed that.

"come on, i want to get to the front of the stage!" amy yelled over the crowd while yanking her tourmate by the arm. the sea of gays was tight, but with the power of entitlement and anime on her side, amy managed to elbow and prod and step on toes until the barricade was theirs.

sid feels the harsh tug on her arm before she registers what amy's said, and she knows it'll be more effort than it's worth to fight against the pull. so she follows, free hand protectively cupped around the lens of the camera hanging from her neck. she's muttering quick apologies to the people amy shoves past, a sheepish look appearing on her face in response to the predictable glares. ❛ jeez, amy. slow down, ❜ she manages to say just before the two of them end up right at barricade. ❛ was all that really necessary ? ❜
