As we settle in for chemo treatment number 4 (of 6) I find myself enthralled by this view looking towards the Mayo Building. The process of fighting cancer is a complicated and challenging one both physically and mentally. Even as a ‘caregiver’ (a term for which I sometimes take offense because I more than care….) this entire scenario is thwarted by bumps in the road and ever occurring obstacles to be confronted, challenged, and crushed! Along the way visuals such as this provide me an astounding level of wonderment. Not unlike what I feel as I watch the doctors, nurses, and technicians work like a fine oiled clock. There are times when the world turns upside down. One of those times is when your spouse is diagnosed with cancer. For the second time. While he is recovering after surgery this is our temporary home. It’s wonderful! Directly across the street from St. Mary’s Hospital (a miraculous place which is part of the Mayo Health Care System in Rochester, Minnesota) is the Berkman Hotel and Apartments. Our explorations of Old Highway 16, once a major road connecting Marmarth and Beach in southwestern North Dakota, revealed many enthralling scenic vistas.
