“W..Well, it’s simple… I don’t got no one here, an’ I’m usually not put into trials… It’s boring waiting with everyone else gone. An’… Honestly, it’s terrifyin’ out here.” He paused for a moment, though he wasn’t nervous, cautious perhaps.

“Mmm, all alone… I’ve been there before.” He finally looked up at Bubba and sized him up. The man before Sylvester could have made a good killer in another life. “I suppose I could consider that… it’s so fuckin’ infuriating to get one of you bastards up there only to hear you scurrying off like a rat as soon as I turn my back.”

“O’course. Gotta keep good where it’s due.” He nodded, hesitating for a moment before shaking the other’s hand. The blood didn’t bother him as much as the plausible source, blood doesn’t become a shocker after you’ve been here for awhile.

“I’m a man of my word… say, what’s your name anyway? Can’t be friends if I don’t know who you are.”

“Bubba, Bubba Freebourne… An’ y’rself?”

“Well… Hadn’t thought o’if, but I suppose there’s somethin’s I do keep forgettin’… Perhaps it’s ‘cause of our time in ‘ere. It makes us f’get our life before.”

“Hope isn’t something we get, not that any of us ever had any,” Sylvester mused. He was referring to himself and his Legion, but the other killers applied equally. Some wanted to have the blood on their hands and others didn’t, but what united them was that each one stepped out of a dark past to get into the fog.

“Nah, it’s alright. I understand what y’meant.” He nodded, though went quiet for a moment as he watched the other’s movements. Something was off.

“Mmm, I could be worse. Just got stabbed by that blondie bitch, that’s all.” Sylvester winced as he moved his arm in an effort to show that he was fine. Times like these made him thankful for his mask, even if it brought him plenty of other miseries.

“Well, we always did heal even outside o’here. But y’shouldn’t be in pain if y’don’t need to, an’ leavin’ it’ll take even longer t’heal. Y’wont be in much shape t’do much o’anythin’.” Bubba noted, he was a bit too caring perhaps, in his mind both were equal to a degree, for he believed neither should have to suffer if they don’t have to while here. It weakens people’s body and minds, it dehumanizes them. And for some reason, he still saw human in Sylvester.

“Sure, it sounds nice and easy when you put it like that. But you all don’t have to deal with the Entity in the same way that we do. There’s consequences for what the killers do inside and outside all this,” Sylvester grumbled. “I appreciate the offer but I’m not sure if it’s worth a risk.”

“I only ever played Red so those are the ones I know. It’s fine though…” Sylvester would have been fine spending all the time in the world talking about Pokémon at any other time, but now he was paranoid that somehow someone would be here to see this and tell on him.

“Red wasn’t too bad… Though I liked diamond and Pearl better-” Meadow started to say. She smiled for a second, before picking up on the boy’s paranoia. She completely understood why he might be paranoid, there could be people watching.

Sylvester took a few deep breaths before relaxing as best he could and returning his attention to Meadow. “Diamond and Pearl..? I guess those came out after we came here. Say… what year was it when you came? We stopped trying to track the time long ago but I still want to know how long we’ve been stuck here.” Whenever he spoke, it seemed to be about the Legion as a collective rather than him as an individual.

“W-Well… Some people come from different time periods, so I don’t know how well it would help you know how long you’ve been in the fog here, but I got taken into the fog about March of 2012 if I remember correctly.” Meadow said, thinking a bit to herself. She noticed the way he spoke for the Legion, instead of just himself, but didn’t question it.

“That’s... more than fifteen years. We could be in our thirties now, living our lives out as they should have gone...” Sylvester mused, sadness tinging his voice. “But I guess that’s not how it was meant to be. And who knows how much time has passed since then?”
