My Honey in Retrograde
rated e / 17k words / aomine x akashi
tags/warnings: minor aomine/kagami, implied gom/gom, future fic, hurt/comfort, aomine in the NBA, rimming, power play, asphyxiation, bottom akashi, top aomine (technically)
The silence stretched but it wasn't empty. Being near Akashi was like playing with static. He's pulled or frayed no matter how he moved. He didn't falter. Neither did Akashi. That was a given. "At any rate," Akashi said, "I've cleared my schedule for two weeks." He faltered. "Huh." "We leave for Kyushu in three. Get packed. I've already booked for an overnight train and several ryokan outside the tour. The itinerary seems pleasant enough, however I prefer—" "Hold the fuck on."
During summer break, Aomine packs his bags, takes a one-way flight to Tokyo and visits an old friend.

Akashi watched the ripples of the pond by his sandals, his arms tucked into the sleeves of his yukata in an attempt to avoid the inevitability of mosquitos. Tokyo's summer heat triumphed even well into the evening, keeping all but the blaring song of cicadas docile and languid.
"What are you doing over there, obocchan? Don't fall in."
"Nijimura-san, I'd be grateful if you stopped calling me that."
AkaMido
title: let go (ao3) pairing: akamido summary: Immortality could be tedious if spent in solitude. Fortunately for Seijuurou, he has never been truly alone. HAPPY AKAMIDO DAY! Also advanced happy birthday to my dearest darling child Lunch @shuzo I love you always and forever <3
An immortal’s life is bound to be filled with solitude. For those without an ambition or a goal, not dying is a curse. Seijuurou, on his part, even without an ambition or a goal deems himself a fortunate exception. That is because in over a millennia of living, he has never been truly alone.
His company comes in the form of a soul that which has departed but cannot cross over.
His fated from the life before his immortality, the only reason Seijuurou is able to live this long is he.
“Shintarou.”

title: was, is, will be (ao3) pairing: akashi/midorima Happy AkaMido Day!!! <3
There are times when you’re on your own — standing in the middle of a busy street, watching people of different kinds pass by— that the thought of how alone you are gives you an overwhelming feeling of sadness. It doesn’t really come to mind always, but when it does, it’s an empty feeling.
Midorima Shintarou isn’t the type to seek company, not even a relationship. All his friends are formed by association. No one really stuck. (Except for one. Or two.) His attempts in having a romantic relationship have all failed. He doesn’t find them necessary at all. But when he’s twenty-eight, single, his high school best friend just got married, and that very friend is urging him to please, please find himself someone before he shrivels all alone… He starts thinking that maybe, it is time.
He calls Takao and tells him he’s ready for another one.
.
What does Midorima Shintarou look for in a partner?
1) Older than him. Not really too much of a gap, a year or two is fine. It’s not like he has a thing for older people. He just thinks that maturity comes with age. He doesn’t have the patience to deal with young spirits who are blinded with the notion of true love.
2) Recognizes a higher power that rules above the processes and events that occur in the world. He is a man who believes in fate ever since that one time he followed Oha-Asa and his luckiest day was recorded in the history of his life. One who thinks that things happen without the aid of fate, or luck, or fortune, can go and not be associated with him at all.
3) A good sense of humor. It’s something he lacks and realizes he actually needs from someone. It isn’t too much, but a good laugh can take a relationship to further heights, at least that’s what Takao had said.
.
The Aristocrat is a fancy restaurant located at the city center, famous for its high class meals and ambience. Only people who can afford tens of thousands of yen for a meal actually eat there. Midorima thought it would be the best place to bring the date Takao had set him up with.
However, this did not help his case.
Midorima is currently standing outside the restaurant, watching the retreating figure of a girl who is not fated to be with him.
“You really are a nice guy,” she told him moments before they parted ways, “but I’m afraid I’m not the one you’re looking for.”
“Takao said you have all that I’m looking for in a partner,” he laughed.
“I do have it all,” she joined his laughter and shook her head afterwards, “but it is a certain person I believe you want. And it’s not me.”
“A…certain person?”
“Say, do you had someone special in the past whom you’ve not been with for a long time now?”
There is , he answered mentally, with his mouth clamped shut. The girl studied his expression for a while, and with a weak smile, told him one thing that confirmed his thoughts:
“I think you might still be attached.”

3 THINGS YOU SAID WITH NO SPACE BETWEEN US
I
Akashi Seijurou treated personal space like he would a crime scene with the yellow tape screaming ‘Do not cross’.
Therefore, he never crossed.
Midorima counted on him not to.
Having Akashi in his life was a tsunami in and of itself, and Midorima dared not imagine what would happen if he went past Midorima’s barricades.
Akashi tore them down instead.
II
The first time Akashi boldly walked into Midorima’s personal space was when he couldn’t reach the shogi board somebody had carelessly disposed of at the top of a tall cupboard.
Despite being amongst the tallest boys, Midorima never felt an urge to make fun of or exploit others for being shorter than him. He had considered it a hand of Fate that he hovered over his classmates’ heads and thus had to occupy the last row for the rest of his days just as much as it was Fate’s fault that everyone else was shorter than him.
However, when he saw Akashi carelessly hop off the ground in a poor attempt to knock the board down, Midorima huffed, perhaps a bit too loudly to go by unnoticed.
Akashi turned around.
“Is something the matter, Shintarou?”
“No,” Midorima replied. It was different with Akashi; he who never bowed to anyone, he whose eyes made everything seemed small before them, he always spoke as if he had mountains in his lungs. Midorima couldn’t stop himself from saying: “I was merely wondering if I should give you a leg up.”
Akashi’s eyes flashed with pride.
He turned his back to Midorima and swiftly pulled up one of the chairs. He stood on it and brought the shogi board down with ease. When he placed it on the desk, he began approaching Midorima.
Midorima felt like a deer in the headlights and Akashi didn’t stop until he made an impact. Midorima inhaled sharply and, unsure of what to do with them, put his hands behind his back.
Akashi’s shoulders applied soft pressure to Midorima’s ribs and when he looked up, Midorima realized there was air in his lungs, waiting to explode.
“Shintarou,” Akashi said, firmly. “Do you find my height amusing?”
Midorima fiddled with his clammy palms. His legs tried to compel him to take a step back but Akashi’s chest was warm against his stomach and the bird perspective allowed him to count Akashi’s lashes.
“I wouldn’t say amusing,” Midorima stalled. “Charming, perhaps.”
Akashi hummed deep in his throat; a sound Midorima learned to translate as ‘I see’.
“What if I outgrow you in a couple of years?” Akashi said as the corner of his mouth threatened to slip into a smile.
Midorima promptly adjusted his glasses in a fit of nervousness.
“Well then, I’ll be counting on you to give me a leg up, if necessary.”
“Of course.”
III
The second time Akashi’s closeness caught Midorima off guard was during Teiko’s special training camp. Usually, two members of the team shared a room but since the air conditioner was busted in several rooms, Generation of Miracles had to share a room.
Fifteen minutes after the lights were out and Midorima knew he wouldn’t be getting any sleep. Six futons around him, each carrying a distinctive smell of its owner and a gust of whispers every once in a while promised to keep him awake.
Akashi remained perfectly still in the futon next to Midorima. Of all the things he had envied Akashi for, Midorima never thought he’d envy his ability to fall asleep (and stay asleep!) the most.
However, when the whispering began again, Midorima’s futon was opened just a crack and a warm body slipped inside; Midoria found himself trapped with a smell of lavender shampoo and a hand pulling the back of his shirt.
“Shintarou, turn around.”
Midorima pretended to be asleep. However, his lack of response did nothing to deter the hand at his shirt or a nose poking at the back of his neck; the gentle caress was familiar and unexpectedly pleasant.
“Shintarou,” Akashi cooed. Akashi actually cooed. Irked by his inability to resist any further, Midorima turned around, slowly, trying not to touch Akashi more than necessary in the process.
“What is it?” He whispered.
Instead of reply, Akashi pulled Midorima’s hand out from the covers and put it over his ear.
“Akashi, what the hell.” Midorima hissed. The back of his hand was still sizzling underneath Akashi’s palm.
“Keep the noise out for me, Shintarou.”
Midorima blinked in the darkness but all he could see is the vague shape of a body next to him.
“You’re the only one I can trust with this noble task.”
Midorima rolled his eyes but allowed Akashi’s words to sink safely into his most prideful parts.
The next morning, Midorima was jolted awake by a shriek:
“Whoa, Akashicchi and Midorimacchi are sharing a futon!”
IV
The third time, the fourth time, the fifth time… Once Midorima had let Akashi close the space between them regularly, he learned that he liked how Akashi looked in his shadow; protected, secluded, his only. It was this newfound desire to monopolize that boosted his fearlessness.
“Akashi, I need to use the dishwasher,” Midorima said. Akashi, who was sipping on a cup of coffee as he was leaning on a dishwasher, looked up at him without even a blink to acknowledge his request.
Midorima sighed. Without a speck of hesitation, he stepped into Akashi’s domain and laced his hands behind Akashi’s back. The fine fabric of his shirt, that Akashi was wearing, helped him carefully twirl Akashi around without spilling a drop of his coffee.
Locked in a close embrace, Midorima challenged Akashi to speak first by pressing a kiss on the side of the cup which was opposite from the one Akashi was drinking from.
He stayed silent even when Akashi, unperturbed, took another sip from the cup, his eyes boring into Midorima’s without a sign of backing down.
“You got better at this. You got better at me,” Akashi commented, thoughtfully, as he tapped his fingers on the neck of the cup.
The unexpected statement forced Midorima to hastily let Akashi go, turn around and busy himself with dirty dishes – all in order to hide his smile.
“It’s not like I had a choice.”
In the next room

The door of the apartment next door was opened by a short, red-haired boy with two diagonal, uneven scratch marks that ran across his lips and down to his chin. It brought ruin to his otherwise spotless, pale face and piercing, mesmerizing eyes.
“I’m sorry for disturbing you in your home, but is this animal yours?” Midorima said and held out a Persian kitten whose fluffy, white fur was warm around his fingers.
Wordlessly, the red-haired boy took the kitten and held it to his face, his hurt lips stretching into a small smile.
“Welcome back, Tei”, he said and hugged the kitten to his chest. The kitten didn’t seem to happy to be there. “Thank you for bringing him back. Could you perhaps tell me where you’ve found him?”
Midorima pushed his glasses up, feeling irrationally inadequate under his gaze. “I found him in my apartment. My doors seem to have not been properly closed.”
“I see. I apologize for the inconvenience.”
Midorima gave a small, barely noticeable nod. “That is quite alright. Have a good day,” he replied and was about to walk back into his apartment when he was lightly pulled back by the hem of his shirt. He glanced back. “Yes?”
“How come I haven’t seen you around before? You are quite…conspicuous.”
Midorima self-consciously brushed his green fringe out of his face and then tugged on one of four piercings on his ears. He was certain that he looked suspicious more than conspicuous.
“I’ve just moved in.”
The red-haired boy seemed relieved by this piece of information, as if not knowing something of this calibre would have damaged his pride. “Welcome to the neighbourhood. I am Akashi Seijurou.”
Midorima’s eyes narrowed when Akashi offered him his free hand to shake. His fingers were long, thin and in poorly-wrapped bandages. Midorima accepted the handshake.
“Midorima Shintarou.”
The kitten, Tei, mewled in Akashi’s arms.
“I’ll see you around, then, Shintarou.”

domestic nijiaka. slice of life. established relationship. ~1K.
(Happy New Year fellow nijiaka lovers–I know it is already the second for almost all of us but I still wanted to share this little ficlet with y’all. Hopefully we’ll have another year full of nijiaka goodness. Gonna keep this ship afloat.)
*
Nijimura reaches for his phone for the sixth time within the last 30 minutes. The sixth time is not any different than the previous, however, and the app informs him yet again that his last messages did not go through. The receiver is not online.
He scowls even harder than he was and pushes the smartphone away on the table, eyeing the perfectly still and diligently made three-tier osechi box. His stomach grumbles despite the soba he had and despite every bone in his body refusing to leave the kotatsu, he gets up to prepare some ozouni.
Two hours, countless more phone-checks, and two bowls of ozouni later, Akashi is still nowhere to be found and Nijimura’s messages still hanging idly somewhere in the digital cloud. It is likely that Akashi’s flight is delayed. It wouldn’t be the first time, nor the last. Still, anxiety inches its way into his guts and he has this strange fear of checking the news. So he peels a tangerine. Then another. Then another.
By the time the door’s lock creaks and he jumps up in surprise, hitting his knees and then feet getting stuck in the blanket and almost falling down, he makes it to the genkan alive, eyes hurting from lack of sleep and too much TV.
“I’m home.” Akashi says with a soft, little smile but the bags under his eyes and hair rocking a freshly-out-of-bed style scream just how tired he is.

post-proposal cuddling nijiakas pls :3c
I read this wrong and wrote post-wedding nijiakas so please accept this instead :’) Sorry about the mishap. Darn nin’s multi-tasking ways.
—-
In retrospect, Nijimura knew “a small celebration” would mean at least a hundred-plus people high-class cocktail because it was, after all, Akashi Seijuro whom he was marrying. Norms, norms, norms–he yawned as he brushed his teeth which made him swallow a bit of the toothpaste. Great. He hoped Akashi would not be struck with insomnia and at least they could get a good night sleep after the hell of a day they had. Given how much Akashi drank and how he behaved drunk, it was probable that he’d be fast asleep soon.
Perhaps already.
His thought was proven incorrect–slightly–as he found his newly-husband lying on their shared bed like a starfish washed ashore. Right in the middle of the king-size bed and somehow managing to occupy much of it. Also still in his twenty thousand dollars worth bespoke suit, sans the jacket, which Nijimura had taken off when they first entered their flat.
Nijimura sighed.
“Sei… you should change.”
Akashi did not look at him though, in fact showed no sign of being awake other than his fully opened eyes fully focused on the emptiness of the bedroom ceiling.
“Oi…” he stood tall near the bed, arms crossed, to no avail but after a few seconds of pause and a blink, Akashi replied:
“When did you fall in love with me?”
An answer that was not an answer and Nijimura simply sighed–he should have made sure to not let Akashi drink so much–and leaned to unbutton Akashi’s dress shirt.
Akashi turned his face to blink at him and asked again, in voice so calm and serious that nobody else could tell he was too far away from being sober.
“Shuzo. When did you fall in love with me?”
Much to Nijimura’s chagrin, Akashi dug his shoulders into the mattress, essentially disallowing him from the disrobing process. Nijimura groaned.
“Why are you curious of this now, after all these years?”
“When though?”
“I will not get an answer from you that’s not a question will I…” Nijimura muttered to himself and rubbed his nape.
“Back in your second year of high school when we were regularly skypeing.”
“What made you realise it?” Akashi asked, now lifting his shoulders so Nijimura could get him out of his vest and shirt.
“I don’t know.”
“You must know.”
“You had very beautiful collar bones and a very beautiful nose and a very beautiful mouth.”
“You notice beautiful things always.”
“You’re so not a cute drunk…” Nijimura poked his lover’s cheek before beginning the work of undoing his belt. “I didn’t just think they were beautiful. I realised I was into you because I wanted to kiss them.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah, yeah; lift your leg.”
“You must have been very embarrassed.”
“I don’t remember how many cold showers I took. I felt like I was sinning.”
Akashi’s giggle, giddy and amused echoed softly around the room and Nijimura felt himself smile.
“I win then.” Akashi declared, crossing his bare legs and looking all smug, like he just closed a big business deal.
“Hmm win what?” Nijimura entertained him, gingerly putting away the crumpled suit, and then grabbing the first t-shirt he found from the drawer–which happened to be his own. Oh well.
“I liked you first. Because I liked you back in middle school already.”
“Well, I know that.”
“You do?” Akashi’s eyebrows bunched a little in confusion as he let Nijimura pull the t-shirt over his head.
“I mean… I wasn’t sure. But I did think you might have had a puppy crush on me. Seriously, why are we talking about this now?”
“You knew?”
“You did act like my wife.”
“No, I did not.”
“Okay, for the sake of my own sleep, okay. Now scoot.”
Instead of moving away properly to let Nijimura some space, Akashi simply climbed onto Nijimura, hovering over him.
“Sei I am really tired–”
“I just wanted you to like me.”
“Huh?”
“You were so cool. You were caring. You were strong. You–”
“Wow. Okay. I was mostly a brat you know.”
“You were amazing.” Akashi leaned to trace small kisses over Nijimura’s lips. “And I really hated Haizaki.” Akashi blurted out right after he finished his butterfly kisses and Nijimura let out a chuckle, rocking them both and getting Akashi to slump over him.
“God… that I know.”
“You should unfriend him on facebook.”
“Sei, he is married.”
“Mira-san is not.”
“We are jumping too fast when did we get to Mira-san? You know she’s just an intern.”
“She stares a lot.” Akashi pouted before burying his face onto Nijimura’s neck and inhaling audibly.
“I like how you smell.”
“I am sweaty.”
“I like that too,” Akashi murmured snaking his arms around Nijimura and kissing underneath his chin, “it reminds me of our days in Teikou, training or matches… also when we have sex–”
Nijimura flipped Akashi in a swift motion to the other side of the bed and hugged him close, taking in the half-surprised half-giggly gasp that escaped his lover’s thin lips. Lips he kissed slowly and gently as he squeezed him in his arms.
“And…” he added once he finished, “we should sleep now.”
Akashi squirmed underneath him before letting him spoon him from behind and sighing long, and happy, and whispering, a couple of seconds later, in a sleepy voice:
“I win…”
Do you like chuuaku? That’s great, so do I! I’m planning a chuuaku week (as the @ suggests) for the fandom to celebrate their love for the ship. But it isn’t fair if only my friend and I came up with the prompts, so I made a form for everyone to suggest some as well. This post will be taken down in 24 hours, so do it fast! I hope your excited for the event.
title: to break free (ao3) pairing: midorima/akashi Seijuurou is the crown prince, yet he wants to run away from a kingdom he is supposed to inherit. With the help of a commoner by the name of Shintarou(not without payment, of course), he journeys to achieve the freedom he has long since dreamed of. For @0ocrystalo0
Seiuurou removes the last jagged piece of rock that blocks his way towards outside the walls of the palace. His palms have sustained a few wounds and scratches, but in exchange for his freedom? It is all worth it. He pushes his small bag through the hole, and next he crawls through it himself, pushing through with his elbows. Ever so quietly he moves; even the littlest noise can attract the attention of the guards and all of his hard work will be for naught. Inch by inch, he endures the dirt and the sweat that trickles down his face.
The moment he is outside, he lies on his back and catches his breath. The night is dark and the moon is up high in the sky. The stars haven’t shone this bright before. A smile forms on his lips, and then he laughs quietly.
A little more closer to freedom.
He wastes no more time. He fills up the hole he made with the same rocks that once covered it. It is rather small and will surely be unnoticed for a considerably long time enough for him to get away. Once done, he wears the cloak he brought with him around his shoulders and covers his head with the hood. Seeing no one around, he slips into the shadows and heads towards the outskirts of the kingdom where his freedom is a step closer within his reach.
“Is this all you can give me?” A small bottle rests on Shintarou’s hand, even smaller than his littlest finger.
“That is all your money can afford.”
“I know, but-”
“This transaction is over. Good night, Shintarou.”
The metal door shuts on his face before he manages to form another reply on his lips. He blinks many times, willing the frustrated tears not to fall. The medicine on his hand will not last for a week for his sister, and God knows she needs so much more. One day missed is a very critical situation. But how can he provide the two of them with everything they need when he’s alone working the smallest jobs that people would give him? They barely pay him enough to enjoy three meals a day and he still has to keep a considerable amount for his sister’s medicine.
Defeated, he retreats from the small dwelling and finds his way back to the main roads through the narrow alleyways that lined the outskirts of the kingdom. The medicine dealer isn’t exactly legal, to say, and he can only transact with him in the late hours of night when everybody is in their own homes, snoring through the night.
He has already forgotten how it feels not having to worry about living through the next day. Ever since their parents died from an unfortunate accident when he was just twelve, his sister eight, he had been the one getting them by. If it isn’t for her, he might have given up long ago.
Nevertheless, she lives through her sickness day by day, smiling like nothing is wrong, giving him the encouragement he needs. He loves her so and he will do anything – anything – to make sure she gets to survive, even if it meant having to deal within the black market. He knows all too well the risks. Once caught, he will have to spend his life in jail. That’s why he makes sure every step he takes will be untraceable. He can’t afford to be in jail. He can’t afford to leave his sister alone.
After some familiar turns, he finds himself back on the main road. A man is walking wobbly on the far end of the street, a bottle on his right hand. Surely, that man will encounter roving guards in about one more street or two and will find himself the next day detained. A curfew is set in the kingdom for security purposes. Shintarou is not that foolish to land on that same fate.
He turns left. The small place they stay in that they call home is only a few blocks away. He pats the small bottle in his pocket, assuring himself that it’s still there, safe.
Seijuurou had the map of the kingdom memorized through every street and every alley. The travel from the palace to the town center is easy enough. But when he reaches the outskirts, he finds himself lost. There are too many alleys than he remembered. For the first time since stepping out of the palace, he feels unsure. He backs into the alley next to him to reassess his situation —
He bumps into something and falls to the ground. There is a thud and a small bottle rolls over to his side.
“Hey! Mind where you’re going.” A tall figure looms over him, narrowing his eyes in the darkness. Seijuurou sees the flash of recognition on his face. “You’re the Crown Pri-“
The dagger is against the stranger’s throat in a flash, and Seijuurou has his elbow on his chest pushing him against the wall.
“Who are you?” he hisses, pressing the cold blade of the dagger harder on the stranger’s neck. Only a handful outside the palace knows the identity of the Crown Prince, and surely, those who knew are not as unimportant as the person before him. “How did you know me?”
“Your eyes.” The stranger struggles from his hold, but Seijuurou’s years of training hasn’t been for nothing. “They said the Crown Prince has strikingly unique red eyes.”
“Who are they?”
“Everyone.” He reaches for Seijuurou’s arms and tries to push them off of him. “Now why don’t you let me go, Your Highness, and we can pretend this whole ordeal never happened.” (full fic on ao3)
