Haha fr tho, ZeroIrisX has so much potential as a ship, and it saddens me that it's barely explored in this 30+ old fandom due to usual shipping discourse and how capcom handled iris. I see no reason to fight over ZeroIris or ZeroX when these characters would be beyond chill with each other in canon. Like... Iris and X have the highest level of emotional intelligence and empathy among their kind, and you think they wouldn't be friends??? That's crazyyyy. I love thinking about the convos they could have, what Zero would think about them (and by extension himself), how events in canon would influence their dynamic. It's fun! It's like an untapped goldmine to me.
Also yah, I'd rather Iris had been in both routes instead of just Zero's. I don't think it's a crime to say Double is such a weak companion character for X. The fact that X can be the one to fight her brother TWICE and she isn't mentioned at all bugs me so bad.

*sigh* A very random thing that I doodle time to time is various ideas for helmetless Zero… Been slowly narrowing in on something I like that doesn’t make my brain fizzle out. Noticed lots of people base their interpretations off of how Yoshihiro Iwamoto draws his hair down too. I tend to like drawing Zero’s hair quite thick, so unfortunately I don’t think that interpretation connects much in my mind.
You can also imagine my horror when I first saw Zero’s hair in X8…
Lowkey, the x series leaving so many details ambiguous (or messy) kinda makes having headcanons super fun for it. Like… I can write scenarios and events and have very little in-canon stuff contradict any of it. Even when stuff gets contradicted, I don’t feel bad just doing whatever cause like… these events have been adapted so many different ways by Capcom themselves. It’s all very freeing.
In general, it’s cool seeing various interpretations on the world and characters, both the official stuff and fan stuff.

Like I said, I am a ZeroIrisX poly shipper BELIEVER… so that being said I feel hella delusional about em. Specially the IrisX part of the relationship because I’ve seen NOTHING on them which makes me feel crazy. The headcanons I have span the ocean.
It also doesn’t help that it requires the very specific version of Iris and X4’s plot that is stuck in my brain dome. It’s 3am, and I’m just thinking about the doomed robots in my head.
