The last minutes before the execution are full of way too much drama, in Suuās opinion. Keiko continues to spit vitriol at Katsumi, other people speak up, absurdly, in her defense. Itās all a waste of breath. She doesnāt need to be told to die, sheās already going to do it. And as for the others- if any of them really wanted a different outcome, they shouldāve reflected that in their votes. Empty words. People talking for the sake of talking, hoping that they could soothe their own feelings by dumping them on Katsumi, whether it was hatred or empathy.
Itās exhausting to listen to, so Suu tunes out. He feels no need to respond to Katsumi, beyond a nod when she asked for confirmation that he knew her sister. It wasnāt like she requested anything else from him, and apparently her grandmother was right there, so heās just going to keep doing what he was doing before- walking around the trial room with Hoshimi until he reaches Osamuās podium.
āNice throw,ā he thinks, when Katsumi manages to get a hit in on Kurokuma. Not that it matters. Thereās no way it would be that easy- heāll probably respawn, just like Shirokuma does. The white bearās words only verify that a moment later. Nothing has changed, unsurprisingly.
āYou donāt want to watch this.ā Suu reaches up to put their hands on the sides of Osamuās helmet, a rare level of contact from them. They can see Katsumi already being dragged away in their peripheral vision, they arenāt sure exactly how sheās going to die, but if itās going to be broadcast to them then they have to make sure Osamu doesnāt see it. Sure enough, a screen boots up, and Suu tugs Osamu to make sure heās facing away from it. Itās not like they can properly cover his ears what with his helmet in the way, but they can keep him from seeing anything. āJust donāt look. And think of something else.ā
Suu only catches snippets of the execution, most of their focus kept on Osamu or Hoshimi, making sure the former isnāt watching and the latter is holding up. But they see the end of it, the way her avatar shifts and changes into a different, not entirely unfamiliar girl. Suu has enough time, while she falls, to think that her eyes look a lot like her sisterās.Ā
They wait until the screen is off to let go of Osamu, wincing at the invasion of Kurokumaās voice, and then at being rapidly warped out of the room.
āā¦Do you two want to talk, or just go to your rooms?ā
