Whoâs up for a spooky tour of NYC?
Pool Time is a Cool Time (Open Starter)
Mika puffed up her cheeks and clapped her hands between both to make a loud pop, then leaning her head sideways. âHm⌠Iâve never been in here. Iâve spent too much time in the garden and in my room! I needed a change in scenery, ya know?â Mika slowly walked over to the pool and gently propped herself on the side of it, her feet dangling in the water.
She looked around curiously, wondering if any other students happened to be chilling out at the pool. Nope. Just Avery and herself. The whole circus had dwindled down so low after the last trial. Things were too quiet now. Mika thought of Momo for a moment, pondering her existence in the afterlife. Knowing the subject to be far too draining for the moment, Mika kicked at the water with her little legs in attempt to ease her mind.
Avery swung her legs back and forth in the water a bit. Someone having appeared really woke her up now, and she was glad to have someone to talk to. She slid closer to Mika, smiling as usual. âYeah! Itâd be boring to stay cooped up inside, or with all those silly plants! Here you can actually have some fun!â She gave Mika a friendly punch on the arm, although it was a bit stronger than sheâd intended. Whoops.
She began whistling a chirpy tune, she looked around the room. Mika sure was being quiet... Avery sighed. âItâs nice here! No oneâs died in this room yet!â She bit her lip though. âBut. Candy did almost kill Momo in this room! So that sucks. I donât know if that counts though. Hmm. Do you think it does?â Avery thought deeply for a few moments. She examined Mika, and flinched a little. Maybe... Maybe murder wasnât the best topic at a pool party. She cursed under her breath and forced a laugh. âUhm, forget I said anything. About that.â
isnât it amazing? the worldâ itâs such a b e a u t i f u l place look at the stars, look at the SKY how can you not love just being A L I V E ?
Pool Time is a Cool Time (Open Starter)
This despairing life of mutual killings had been such a disaster. Week after week would go by and a new body discovered with new culprits and revived despair, anguish, anger, and so on. Little to no room remained for hope. An inundation of disbelief swarmed Mika following the latest trial. Losing Candy, Yukari, Takumi, and Momo in one day was harsh. The feelings of loss stung her like that of a hornet or wasp. Nonetheless, Mika knew she had to move on. After losing Nashimi before, Mikaâs ability to cope improved. Sure, she missed all of her deceased friends tremendously, but life goes on. Tomorrow is another day.
Now, some time after that hectic trial, Mika stood outside the Big Top aimless for cause. The beating sun lashed itâs radiating whips against Mikaâs soft, pale skin. Red marks scattered her uncovered arms and legs, burning despite the thick coating of sunscreen she applied prior to heading outside. Mika sighed as she took shelter within the shade of the Big Top.
Glancing around, Mika noticed the lakeâs cool appearance. Maybe I could take a dipâŚ? Mika shook her head frantically at the idea. Too many bad things happened at that damn lake. But there was one location in this circus Mika knew she could go to cool off⌠THE POOL! Mika had never visited it before, either, so this was the perfect chance!
Smiling, Mika buzzed her way through the warehouse and into the Inn Finity down to the fifth floor. Mika walked into the female changing room, searching about for a bathing suit. Unlucky for Mika, none of the swimwear around fit her small body. So be it. Mika decided to simply walk out to the pool and simply dip her toes in. Maybe if no one is there, she might hop in and let her clothing get soaked. Being in this mess, there really isnât much to lose.
Stepping into the room for the first time, Mika immediately spotted Avery by the poolside. Mika waved excitedly to her. This was Mikaâs first encounter with another student since the trial, so her joy pounced out at its prey. âHi, Avery! Did you come here to cool off, too?â
Avery was a bit entranced by the water, slightly amused by it, but still tired. She was staring at the water, and the ripples formed as she moved her leg absentmindedly. Would they get to leave here soon? Who knew? Hearing the door opening, however, Avery looked up, and saw Mika walk in, waving to her. Giving a wide grin, she waved back. Thank God someone else came! She was starting to get really bored.Â
Avery didnât know Mika that well. How was she taking everything? She was still alive, which was impressive. Perhaps... Perhaps she didnât want to talk about all that though. Maybe sheâd come here to get away from the trial and all. Itâd be rude to bring it up right now.
âHey Mika!â Avery was shouting pretty loudly, and didnât even bother to move from her spot. She was feeling pretty comfortable. âYeah! I hadnât come to the pool before, so it could be a nice place to hang!â She patted a spot next to her for Mika to sit, inviting her over.Â
She raised an eyebrow at the other girl. âSo, whatâre you doing here? Just come to relax?â She was kind of curious as to why the apiarist chose to come here.

Pool Time is a Cool Time (Open Starter)
Avery had been pretty tired lately. Not much had happened since the trial, so she simply spent her days waiting. Maybe for a new floor to be unlocked, or for the bear to give them a new announcement... anything to break the monotony, really.
That last trial was a mess. Five people died, and that was terrible, but... Avery didnât want to think about that. All the negativity was really getting to her, and she wanted to stay up beat and on top of things. That meant she should make sure to have as much fun as possible!
It was pretty late, and Avery had already wasted too much time in the game room today. She wanted to go somewhere new. Why not try the pool? Sheâd never been there before. There had been a murder there, but still, it could be fun. She made her way to her room quickly, digging her swimsuit out of her bag and heading to the pool. Once she got into the dressing room, she quickly changed, excited to check out the water. She did take a few moments to admire herself in a mirror though, deciding sheâd probably show Keisuke ther bathing suit sometime soon.Â
She made her way across the tiled floor, stepping up against the pool. Taking a seat, she slowly dipped her toe in, checking itâs temperature. She quickly removed it though, finding it a bit too cold for her tastes. She pouted. That was pretty unpleasant, but sheâd just have to deal with it if she wanted her swim. She decided to dip herself in bit by bit, starting with her legs. She cringed a little as she first got in the water, but her legs started to feel nicer and nicer as time went on. She stared at her feet in the water as she wiggled her toes.
She had no idea how long she was doing it for, half asleep as she sat there, her legs submerged. She wasnât really paying attention to her environment, and hadnât even realized how exhausted she was. Being trapped in a killing game can really wear you out.

Keiko fell silent for a few minutes and maintained her limp stance with her forehead pressed against the wall. However, hearing someone approach yanked her out of that trance, and she quickly straightened up as Avery addressed her. Embarrassing, embarrassing..!! She canât be caught looking depressing or thinking depressing thoughts, especially not by Avery. Although, inwardly, she had to admit that she was a bit relieved for her to have approached. Sheâd though Avery would go on with Keisuke after the trial.Â
âAh, wha- alright? Of course!! I just thought itâd be good to stretch out here!â As if itâd help her claim, she raised an arm up and raised her other behind her head and stretched. She did a few stretches like this. âItâs nice outside, and that trial was exhausting. I needed to stretch my limbs a bit!â Keiko smiled at Avery, no hint of the expression or mood she had just a moment before Avery approached her. âHm, did you get a similar idea, Avery? Hey, we can stretch together!âÂ
Keiko dropped her arms to her side and bent over, then proceeded to do a few more stretches, âThese feel really nice, after all. By the way, whereâs Keisuke? Leave him behind? He could have stretched with us, too.âÂ
Avery scratched the back of her head. Keiko seemed really energetic, not really like youâd expect of someone who was just nearly shot. Avery sighed. Why couldnât she be more carefree and friendly like Keiko was? She smiled at Keiko and laughed. âIâm glad youâre doing alright! I was⌠really worried about you. I mean, itâs not fair of Oliver to go and try to kill my nemesis like that!â She tried to laugh again, although it sounded like she was forcing it to come out, before slowing down and looking at her feet.
Avery looked at Keiko. She hoped she could learn from her. Maybe thatâd help her be positive. She nodded in agreement. âYeah! We were in such a tense environment for so long, so stretching now would be great!â Her bright smile returned when Keiko asked Avery to stretch with her, and she took a step closer. âOf course Iâll stretch with you! That is, if you can keep up with me!â Avery smiled smugly. Maybe making a game out of this would help.
Avery did her best to match Keikoâs stretches, trying to reach just a bit further than the interpreter did every time. Get fucking wrecked Keiko. âOh, Keisuke? He was helping me out after the trial, but I left to go to the bathroom before coming here. So I dunno where he is now.â

shsl-interpreter:
It should have been loaded.Â
That invasive thought lingered in her consciousness as she left the trial, after she left, as she walked towards the inn, as she redirected herself away from the inn, and as she aimlessly walked until she reached a dead end at the lake. It should have been loaded. She could have died back there. The only reason Oliver didnât shoot her was because there wasnât another bullet, wasnât it? In retrospect, it was obvious that was the case. Oliver was prepared to kill her.Â
Of course, she would have been prepared to kill her too, if she was in anyone elseâs shoes. She could feel everyoneâs exasperation towards her during the trial. She could feel how annoyed everyone was becoming when she tried to help- âhelpâ. Thatâs a laugh. In that trial, she felt utterly hopeless, helpless, defeated⌠Her innate reaction to such feelings have always been to laugh and play around. Everything would be better if everyone could have some fun, even in a tense situation! Always! Always, not. Itâs the same thing every time, isnât it? She goes too far, gets too irritating, but she canât just stop. That would come off as depressing or pitiful- pathetic, even! She canât just fall silent and look distant, though everyone may want her too. Itâs too depressing. Maybe not for anyone else, but for herself. She would feel too out of place.Â
Well, that out of place feeling will arise regardless. At least, in one way, she doesnât break character.Â
Really, above all things right now, sheâd like to just talk to someone. Anyone. Being alone has never been good for Keiko. Sheâs never enjoyed being alone. However, this time⌠No, that trial was very bad and very exhausting. Her trying to talk to anyone now- especially her- would end in her conversational partner being in a very foul mood. Perhaps, if she wasnât so obnoxious, she would be able to talk to someone in a time like this. If she was just a little more decent. Keiko bit her lip and furrowed her brow at the outside wall of the lounge. There was nothing there- just some dirt on the wall.Â
âWell, what do you think? What should I do?â Keiko frowned at the wall as if she were expecting it to reply to her. Of course it didnât, and she didnât know how to answer either. â[âŚDamn it- Damn it],â  she muttered in English and gave a solid kick to the wall. â[At least answer meâŚ]â again, she spoke to the wall in English before ultimately resting her forehead against it. This is very, very wrong. Didnât five people just die? Five. FiveâŚÂ â[So self-absorbedâŚ] kkk- Disgusting.â
Avery broke away from Keisuke after the trial, heading to the bathroom. She looked at herself in the mirror. It was still just the afternoon, and she already looked exhausted. That trial had worn her down, and she had no clue how to react. She frowned.Â
She was kind of upset. Takumi was one of the ones who died. Avery wasnât that close to him... heck, she attacked him. But she didnât want for him to die. Yeah, he was a killer, but still. Did he deserve it? If sheâd been asked before the game, sheâd definitely say yeah. But now? No way.
She was legitimately worried when Keiko went over to Oliver. She took each of his threats seriously, and was scared he might try something with her roommate. Keiko was her friend, and she didnât want anything to happen to her. Sheâd been acting a bit strangely that entire trial. Avery... she wanted to talk to her.
She left the Inn, setting off to find her roommate. She had no clue whatâd happened to her since she got to the facility. After everything thatâd happened, was she the same happy-go-lucky girl she was at the start? She just wanted to be cheerful, and help everyone stay happy, but she found it kind of difficult with people dying around her right and left. She sighed. It was slowly wearing down on her happiness.
She eventually reached the lake, finding Keiko wandering around, and walked over to her. She seemed to be staring at a wall, so Avery walked over to her. âHey Keiko. Are you alright?â She frowned. She really wanted to kow that her roommate was okay after what had happene
