𝐠𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 / 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒏.

Nicté Ha had chosen the nickname Nika in the first few months after coming to Lee Kane University.  She didn’t dislike people, but it did get a little irritating to constantly hear folks mispronouncing her name.  After the first couple of attempts to correct them, she realized that they simply couldn’t seem to get their mouths and accents to work with hers.  That’s when she took advice from one of her few friends and came up with a nickname.  Now, most people didn’t remember her real name.

Should that bother her?

Somehow it didn’t.

Sitting near the aquatic dorms and enjoying the sunset, she pondered the future.  Thus far, she hadn’t decided what to do with herself once she graduated. Where did she go from here?

fen missed talokan. they missed their father, their people, the multitude of underwater friends they had. they missed not having to wear normal land dweller clothing, they missed not having to wear shoes and not having to adjust to living on the surface ... they could understand why their father only liked a select few from the surface. 

Rocket had been doing all that he could to fly under the radar after the mess that he had made for himself between Valentina and Daphne, even going as far as to switch up his usual routines in order to avoid certain aforementioned ghosts of his past in his last ditch effort to move on. That was how he had wound up in the last place Rocket had expected to find himself; Study Hall. His textbooks looked practically brand new given that they’d hardly been touched since his first day. It had been a silent protest against the cage they had locked him in but after everything that had happened in the last few months, Rocket would rather study and keep himself out of the spotlight. It was only as he settled down into a seat at the back that it occurred to him that he hadn’t thought to bring a notebook. “Hey-” he whispered, leaning in closer to the person sat beside him. “Do you have a piece of paper I could borrow or something? Got a lot of catching up to do here”

james’ head was buried in a book. they were extremely focused to get something done today. their mind was all over the place -- everywhere, all at once. they had never been able to focus much or stay on topic, but they were determined to at least try. their grandfather always chuckled at the energy that james had, nobody quite knew where they got it from, certainly not laura or logan. gabby’s influence, perhaps? gabby was the most chaotic ball of energy anyone in the family had ever seen. 

“ hm? “ james picked up their head, eyebrows furrowed together. they were confused for a moment about who or what had spoken and what they needed.

“If you’re going to stand there, can you at least pass me that screwdriver?” Riley asked, blowing at the hair that had fallen from behind her ear, obstructing her view. The remote control to her batarangs had been broken during the last attack on the school and while Riley knew that she should probably call Lucius or Alfred to fix it properly, this would have to do for now. She didn’t want to draw any attention to herself after her Dads had been so worried about her and Cat and she was sure it would do fine until the next time she could go home. It wasn’t often that Riley relied on the arsenal of gadgets that came equipped with her suit, her smoke manipulation usually doing the trick, but she was determined to never let herself be caught so unprepared ever again. Not after all that she had been through here so far. “Please? Sorry…Long day” she apologised, realising how blunt her initial request had sounded.

fen was barely paying attention to her surroundings in an almost dismissive way. she was only here to learn, she didn’t care about this so called rehab program she had to sign up for. “ sure, yeah, “ she moves around the tables and grabs the screwdriver in question and hands it to the girl.

“I’m not in the mood to be accused of more things that I didn’t do” Mira huffed, dropping the hand that she had been using to turn the water in her glass to ice as she let it rest in her lap. She had sensed somebody standing close by before she had heard their breathing and her mind instantly went to Marina. Her sister, unlike their father, had not forgiven Mira for the part that she played in what had happened at Atlantis and Mira was not naïve enough to believe that she would not exact her revenge given the right opportunity. “It’s rude to hover, you know2 she continued, still not turning her head. “So if there’s something you wish to say to me, I’d prefer that you come out with it already”
