you really want to make this post into something it’s not, this post was simply saying that marvel started off doing this shit and they are still doing this shit they are never going to stop because they are a capitalist corporation and they are making money off of this formula
steve rogers, bucky barnes, sam wilson, frank castle, rhodey rhodes are all veterans in the mcu, all of there character arcs are surrounded around the skill sets they learned in various parts of the military
and young boys look at these characters and say “i want to be like him” but we don’t have those conversations, we never have had those conversations, we started talking about how carol danvers is going to want to make young girls join the military from the first preview
and the truth is that IT IS ALL MILITARY PROPAGANDA we are just much more likely to talk about it now that it’s female driven bc we are much more likely to be critical of films featuring women and how these films are picked apart much more than the movies that feature men in the same role we can have two different conversations at the same time, we can say that marvel features military propaganda throughout its franchise and also that we are much more likely to critique female driven forms of media than we are if men are playing those roles
i was never saying, again, your fantasy of what i was saying, that “you cant criticize this because a white woman is playing captain marvel and you can’t criticize white women for anything and you weren’t saying this when you were 9 and tony stark was a war criminal” i’m saying we should be highly critical of a franchise that has ALWAYS SINCE IT’S FORMATION had a formula and an agenda, we should also be wary of how quick we are to play pick and choose in a misogynistic society.
