Like Acheron, she hailed from Izumo. She was one of Acheron’s childhood friends, until she was taken away by her family (which consisted of many elders) who sacrificed her into the battle field at a young age to fight off the kami. She was forced to do so for prolonged periods of time compared to Acheron. She was actually forced to fight for 5 straight days once, with her being the last survivor by the end of the day. Her family had promised her food and necessities once she had finished, but they never returner. So, she had to resort to eating her fellow mates and the kami (little did she know that by doing that, the kami corrupted her soul physically and mentally). She was eventually caught and outcasted from her clan, forced to fend for herself at a young age. Keep in mind, this time period was during the middle-endish years of the war between kami and humans in Izumo, so there weren’t many people left besides a few clans and people.
She earned the name ‘Sanguisuga’, Latin/Italian for bloodsucker. When Acheron learned about it, she was just confused because Haruki was one of the sweetest people she knew (Haruki is Maggie’s real name. Yes, fun fact Haruki is a gender-neutral and masc name, but I intentionally chose not to use the fem counterpart bc magnolia trees are actually cosexual meaning that they have both genders. Also to make it even more niche lol). Magnolia wasn’t able to find any sources of food for days which made her behave like a rabid dog. Sometimes, she would find random individuals alone out in the open. Even when she didn’t want to, her body forced itself towards them to try and feed on the people, but luckily she had enough control and sanity at the time to stop herself.
Maggie promised herself she would just eat the kami instead of eating people. Another fun fact is that she possessed the sentinel of fate (a sword forged from the kami) before she died. Maggie would resume to defeat infected monsters as the kami were now too strong for her to fight due to the condition her body was in (I have to fix the plot hole with the time this occurred, not right now though). This was around the time people went crazy due to Kami exposure. Her eating them did not hurt her physically in the long run (besides making her want to throw up), but it did hurt her A LOT mentally because they were once human. It made her feel useless and disgusting and made her idealize death. She honestly couldn’t take it anymore. It was too much for her to bear, even if it was what she had to do to survive. Too… inhumane. She ended it all on a mountaintop, against a tree where she wished to reborn within it. She should have thought twice though, since she was instead reborn as a jubokko tree rather than a magnolia tree. Jubokkos are trees of vengeance, growing in battlefields and consuming the organisms (mainly human blood) around them. 
Pretty fit for the location of Izumo, right? Yes, she was trapped inside the tree until the VERY near end of Izumo. She was corrupted by thoughts of being hungry and excusing taking innocent civilian’s lives through consumption of their blood by claiming she needed sustenance while also saying that they would have treated her badly anyways if she was still alive. Innocent civilians just being dead bodies and not many people that are actually still alive because at this time period there were not a lot of people left. Even if she tried to stop consuming, the tree did it automatically for her. She was praying that someone heard her and could get her out of the tree, wishing to be human once more and to finally understand emotions. This was directly before Izumo was consumed by IX, so Yaoshi had heard her and actually granted her both the power of an emanator (especially since Maggie followed the path of Abundance exactly! I’ll explain in a post… idk when tho lol) and a humanoid body. Don’t know which planet to put her on yet.
