“Nah, I guess not.  You’ve made a lot of enemies, and I think you look better without being covered in plasma burns.”

“You could pass every single test handed to you with flying colors” She assures her,”you have been given comprehensive knowledge of medicine, zoology, biology, and ailments of the spirit” She explains,”I actually tried to steer the knowledge in that direction… i don’t actually control what you learn” She tells her,”Use Her gifts well, gandrayda… this is a gift”

Yeah, that sounds like something you’d say.

Having that much information suddenly downloaded into her brain was a little overwhelming at first.  The transfer left her with a slight headache and some dizziness that quickly passed.  “By Sammy’s ancestors, warn a girl next time you decide to do that,” she hisses.  “Wow, all of a sudden Gandrayda Aran, M.D. sounds a lot less like a joke...”

Gandrayda shakes her head.  “I might be one of the best shapeshifters on the planet, but that doesn’t change the fact that I’m a genetic male,” she says, shrugging in resignation.  “My wishes are pretty much irrelevant; Sammy’s carrying the baby because she’s the one with a body designed for it.  It’s not something I could mimic my way through, either -- the biological processes involved are just way too complicated, even for me.”

Gandrayda waved a hand at the bartender as she helps herself to a seat, indicating that drinks were indeed being offered.  Granted, she wouldn’t be drinking anything alcoholic, but her new friend probably would be.  “I guess I can spare you a drink or two as an apology,” she says.  “You just happen to look kinda familiar, that’s all.”

Nora smiles,”Yes. we’ve been working at this for a while. i’ve been catching her trying to avoid sleeping to work on this. i’ve had to use my powers to put her to sleep several times. i do not need sleep, but she very clearly does. i do not need her mental state in question again”

“The samples are in a very delicate stage right now, so all i can show you is a video feed” Pulling up a screen, she shows gandrayda a video of several vials filled with blue liquid in the shape of a triple helix, while several machines are digitally taking the helix apart and putting it together,” So far, we’ve encountered few problems, but the ones we have encountered are problematic enough to slow progress… but when it is finished, i assure you, the product will be as close to flawless as the Universe allows” she says with a smile

She nods, although she feels slightly out of her depth.  “The miracle of life,” she says, wishing her wife wasn’t currently incapacitated.  “It’s hard to believe that a child is going to be produced by all this, even when looking at it.  You and your sister are definitely the brains of this operation...”
