I submitted my final year project choices yesterday

I’m 20 next month

I move to my new place in 4 months

I’ve worked at Primark for almost a year

It’s only 6 months until third year

I’m going to have to start looking at postgraduate courses

Next summer, I’ll be graduating

The real world is getting closer every minute, and I’m still single and a pretty useless individual that won’t be able to do real grown up things

You got a 2:1 and now you’re halfway through a Masters degree. It’s actually not at Cardiff (long story short, you’re gonna have to defer a year to get a full time job and Cardiff will drop your course, it’s shit but trust me it will be OK!) 

You’ve moved house again and learned a hell of a lot of shit about life. You got engaged, paid off some of your student loan in your ‘gap year’ and went abroad on a trip you paid for with your own money, so you did some mid-level adulting. When your engagement ends, don’t be embarrassed. Life goes on and you’ll go on some dates with some pretty cool guys. Not every guy has to become your boyfriend. Embrace life a little more!

Hello 22 year old Kelli

You got a Merit in your Masters, then got a job in a lab at UoB, which means you are now a real life scientist! Living in Bristol again has given you a new burst of energy and is just as brilliant as you remember.

You’ve moved house twice, lost 2 stone and met some brilliant new friends. The last year has built up your confidence and you’ve even fully embraced the world of dating in another city. You even try dating an ex from the beginning of 3rd year at UWE - it sounds like a weird thing to have done, but it gave you some closure! 

Look who re-activated their super old Tumblr account! You are still working at UoB and now have a bunch of PhD interviews under your belt, which you thought you’d never get. You still haven’t quite got an offer, but you’re a much better scientist than you were in 2016.

You now actually have savings in your bank account. Adulting is much less of a scary concept.

You’re still dating. You get ghosted a lot. A massive fuck off pandemic will also help to put a halt to any progress in that department.

You now do crazy shit like spin classes and running a 10k for fun. Yeah, I know. I am not sure how that happened either.

Bonus update: you’re going to see MCR twice next year.

You’re still really happy and more at peace with yourself than ever.

Greetings from a version of you in their THIRTIES! (as if I have been writing these posts to past versions of me for 10 years).

Well, you came out the other side of the pandemic with a different job in another city, a Bristol 10k medal, some funny Covid dating stories, 2 new piercings and a boyfriend (more on him later).

I don't know whether it is being in love, being in my thirties, being in a a great job or a combination of all three, but you are the happiest and most comfortable you have been in yourself for a long time.

Life is great fun and you have SO much look forward to.

You are now in a very healthy, very happy long term relationship with a very nice American man who is everything you could have ever wanted, and then some. You live together, you travel together, you thrive together. It is fucking lovely and everything you deserve after other experiences with shitty men.

Keeping riding the wave and lots of good things will come to you.
