Will There Be A Vatican Issued Apology When the Fear Mongering Is Over?
The question is not actually what I want to discuss. I am not holding my breath for an apology that I know will never come in my life time. I wonder however, if we will ever move past a time of fear mongering over queer and trans identity.
Over the last several years, from both big catholic influencers and from the Vatican itself, there has been an increase of terror over the "transgender ideology " while also insisting the inclusion of transgender individuals. I do not think we cannot have both.
The definition of transgender ideology is so often incredibly vague, it is described as both the actions of a person and the person itself. If the person itself is the ideology that will "corrupt the church, God, and the west" then why would we insist on including them? If it is actions, what actions are "transgender ideology"? Surgery? Well then I am not infected with "transgender ideology" because I have not yet have surgery, but I am not treated as an equal to my cishet peers.
Sometimes I wonder if inclusion is way to lesson the guilt over years of fear mongering. What does inclusion mean though if transgender people are constantly faced with the idea that a fabric of their being is corrupting? If I am transgender, and I cannot change that, does that mean that I was a mistake, that apart of my being is a mistake? Who made that mistake? God? Me? How do I rectify this "mistake" without losing a part of myself?
As a transgender Catholic, I know that the moment I post this the comments will be flooded with people saying I am not a true Catholic or I am going to hell. All I will say is how do you know? Did you see my baptism? Do you hear my prayers? Do you know my heart?

If He were physically here you would lose your mind literally, so I'm grateful He sent the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, equally adored and worshipped with the Father and Son. if you want to physically see Jesus, do something for the homeless and/or less fortunate
Sometimes I think I’d rather lose my mind than to be in this agony because at least Christ could heal me.
I do plan on volunteering next weekend to help cope.

Trans Day of Remembrance Reflection
On November 20th 2025 I went to a vigil that my friend put on. I pulled out my trans colored rosary that one of the few queer catholic I know, gave me (shout out to the_queer_catholic on IG love you). I prayed the rosary and paused as I listened to those who were moved talk. A list of the names of 50 trans American people, who had died from suicide or murder, was read out.
We live in an pretty volatile times and we have for a while now. I have been supremely lucky to not have had any of my beloved trans friends die. I have been made to watch some of them live in, or go back to, the closet. Even I who comes from an accepting family have thought about the closet. In a way the closet is it's own sort of death. A closeted life is not the failure of any individual but the failure of the world we are in.
I think it is hard to express the tragedy of violence that is being perpetrated against the trans community. It's hard to express that sort of grief. I have a lot of hope for the future, I can see a way past this time of hate and death. Even with that hope it doesn't mean the suffering that is happening now does not matter. There is a place for grief in hope and there is a place for trans people in the world.
