blindship for cyn!
This disgrace is a young demiboy who goes by the name of Hitsuki Meiya, and they happen to be a Super High-School Level Cell Phone Novelist! Cell phone novels, a phenomena that started in Japan and spread elsewhere-- novels spread through texting, messaging, emails and sharing sites, usually in very short chapters or segments-- usually tend to focus on romance and relationships, at least the popular ones, but the main themes of Hitsuki’s novels have always been crime and mystery, albeit with the occasional romance or sci-fi subplot thrown in here and there. Despite the fact that their work has exploded in popularity-- their writing’s received millions of views, much of it has now been published in print, and their most successful work has been made into film, a manga, and soon, possibly an anime if the whispers on the wind are correct-- they have a reputation for being a rather private, mysterious individual, camera-shy and hard to catch for interviews offline, their presence on social media being the only way to truly get hold of them.
As for personality? Hitsuki can be rather...evasive, to say the least of it. The aura of mystery he has around him is very much intentional, on his part-- he finds it hard to speak the truth and be honest about who he is around people he can’t be sure are being honest to him, and, as such, he tries to remain vague about his feelings and opinions on things-- you never know what a dishonest person might do, and just how they could use precious, important information you divulge to them and turn it against you. Still, despite his vague nature, and desire to keep his life private, Hitsuki still has a keen interest in observing people-- the seediest crevices of human nature are by far the most interesting, in his book. The reason he writes mostly about crime and mystery is because he finds human psychology-- more specifically, criminal psychology-- absolutely fascinating. It’s one of the pervading questions that interest him: what drives a person to do things that society deems “wicked” or “bad”? Why do some people condemn certain actions that others excuse? What justifies a “bad thing” in a person’s mind? Questions like these are what drive Hitsuki to write, as he finds it really interesting to get into the psychology of someone others think of as a “criminal”. In fact, this is a reason why he might be interested in getting closer to people-- to see what makes up them as a person, and what might drive them to do bad things.
Of course, by virtue of firmly believing that anyone and everyone can be a “criminal” if given sufficient drive, as mentioned, this leaves Hitsuki very paranoid, and reluctant to put his trust into others. After all, unless you know a person inside-out, you never know what they could do to you, can you? And so, this is another reason why he tries to keep his emotional distance-- it’s a safety mechanism, as he sees it, rather than an active effort to shut out the world fueled by bitterness.
Still, it’s definitely not impossible for Hitsuki to open up...and, truth be told, you’ll find out if you get close to them that they’re actually quite the closet hopeless romantic! They see strong bonds--platonic, romantic, what have you-- more as something that just happens to other people, but they do find the idea...charming, really. Of slowly opening up to someone, coming to trust and even love them, and to know that they genuinely care for you back. They really do want human companionship, even if they are a little scared of it, at the same time.
Now, for some fun facts about this kid!
Hitsuki Meiya isn’t their real name, and they’re pretty open about that! They got that name from getting the (Japanese) word “hitsumei”-- meaning “alias”-- and tried to turn it into a penname, basically. If you want to get their real name out of them, you’d have to get close to them.
They wear a lot of scarves! They have many different kinds, and would be very pleased if you bought them more.
He’s actually quite a skilled artist, although he only draws occasionally. He gets embarrassed showing people his sketchbooks, though.
He likes breezy, wind-laden weather best, since he finds it quite atmospheric.
