Vanessa Guillen is dead. 

After being sexually harassed by a sergeant, and being missing since April, she is found dead near a lake east of Fort Wood. And to top it all off, one suspect took his own life, so now we will likely never be able to know exactly what happened to her.

A soldier who happened to be female, Latina, and a victim of sexual harassment by a higher-up in the military, and no one knew anything about it, or saw anything strange. Not one of her peers knew anything at all? Seems extremely suspect to me, especially considering the U.S. military’s amazing track record of correctly handling cases of sexual violence or even addressing those cases at all. 

Regardless of whether there was some attempt at covering this up or not, this is a fucking tragedy and I’m extremely upset that this young (20 year old!!) woman was murdered and that her family has to deal with the loss of a beloved sister and daughter. This should never have happened.

In a few months, the year end awards will be upon us. It’s going to be a hard time for all of us because it’ll be a whole year since Jonghyun left our sides to be happy and find peace and tranquility in Heaven.

As much as it’s going to be hard for us, it’s going to be a 1000 times harder for our boys. Jinki will probably enlist after the awards. And also this is the last time, we’ll be able to give Jonghyun an award that he deserves.

I know 2018 has been tough for us Shawols. There are many Shawols who have stopped listening to SHINee because it’s too painful for them. And I understand that. But regardless of whether you have been listening to SHINee and supporting their activities this year or not; I hope that at least at the year end awards you’ll all vote for them.

This year was our 10th anniversary. Personally, I want to give our boys the ‘Artist of The Year’ award. Because, let’s be honest, if there is a group that deserves the award his year, it’s SHINee. they’ve been through so much and still worked hard to give us 3 amazing albums to celebrate 10 years of being together. I want to desperately give SHINee the Daesang they deserve. We did this 5 years ago, so please, PLEASE, let’s do this again. Let’s give them ‘Artist of the Year’ this year. SHINee deserves it.
