You don’t teach your children not to scream by screaming at them.

You don’t teach your children to be respectful by disrespecting them.

You don’t teach your children how to do anything by subjecting them to physical, emotional, or verbal abuse as a form of discipline.

I tried putting some feelings into words and it turned into this rambling. Sometimes, it seems that what gets me anxious is an undercurrent craving for more. There’s so much conditioning for us to always be moving forward and achieving. It feels like there will never be enough time to just be present.

I guess that’s how it feels to be a human sometimes and it’s okay. But I do believe that some things can be revealed with these kinds of emotions. Personally, I’ve been trying to redefine my ideas about success and growth. We've been seeing lately how so much of what’s considered progress is actually killing the earth and I think that might be a good hint about the way we need to change.
