On November 28, during a football match in Nicosia with Warsaw's Legia with in the UEFA Conference League, fans of FC Omonia (Nicosia,Cyprus) unfurled a huge banner withthe inscription: "171. 1945 The Red Army liberated Warsaw" The historical truth expressed inthe banner of Omonia fans caused discontent among Legia fans, known for their far-right, nationalist and anti-communist views, as well as the Polish authorities. The mayor of Warsaw demanded an apology from the Cypriot club, and the Legia management filed a complaint with UEFA. The Polish Embassy in the Republic of Cyprus also expressed its dissatisfaction with the incident Omonia fans responded to criticism from Polish politicians and fans: "in connection with the banner we hung in honor of the liberation of Warsaw, we would like to apologize to everyone. You see, because May 9th seemed so far away, we did not mention that the Red Army liberated more than half of Europe from the fascist monster, not just Warsaw. We did not make any political comments, only the historically documented truth. Warsaw, Poland and the rest of Europe were not liberated by aliens. The atrocities committed by the Nazis in Auschwitz and other death camps were not committed by aliens. Aliens did not liberate the survivors of these camps either. And it was certainly not aliens who sacrificed more than 20 million lives to win the more than 20 million lives to win the war against the most rotten creature that humanity has ever produced. the Red Army and the partisan organizations of all countries that made the decisive contribution to the defeat of fascism. We rejoice! We are glad that Polish and domestic fascists were offended. We are glad that Polish and domestic so-called liberals were offended, who with their unscientific "theory of two extremes" are paving the way for fascism throughout Europe. In Poland, it is the fans (unfortunately, not only Legia) who raise swastikas, give Nazi salutes, wave banners of racial superiority and other nationalist symbols. This is the same country where "propaganda of communist ideas" is banned. This is also a country that refuses to comply even with the directives of the European Union regarding migrants and refugees. Therefore, we do not accept lessons in history and unrug democracy from them. In Cyprus, of course, various so-called liberals (not to mention fascists) were offended by the banner. These are the same people who turn a blind eye to the fact that fans of other teams raise fascist and nationalist symbols. These are the same people who hand in hand with the fascists, strive to transfer even more sovereignty of our long-suffering island to NATO, so that the bloodshed of the peoples of the region continues. And all this at a time when 37% of the territory of our island is illegally occupied by NATO troops.
