Tony heard of soulmates seeing their pasts lives when they first touched and he called bullshit on that because he didn’t believe in that shit. He sighed as he moved around the newly built Shield and frowned as he bumped into someone and grabbed onto their arms to keep them from falling. He held back a gasp as he suddenly remembered a past life. He quickly let the guy go and looked away form him.

He paused in the hall when he saw his and every engineers hero and quickly went to introduce himself but his excitment got the better of him and he ended bumping into the man, freezing as he saw a flash of a past life his eyes widened looking at Tony “I… Well tha’ was… somethin’.”

Tony snorted and patted Fitz’s shoulder lightly as he continued to watch a drunk Clint try to sing along with the song on the radio. “This is totally blackmail material.” He mumbled lowly so the two of them could hear but no one else.

“Was a good plan,” Fitz admitted, finishing his own drink, snapping his fingers for another drink before turning to face the other “Job offer? Las’ offer I took didn’ work to well.” he said, speaking of SHIELD.

“Thank you. I’m very proud of it.” Steve said with a dark smile. “You are free to turn it down. Just need you to update my system so Stark’s robot can’t hack into it.”

“S’long as it’s not a long term sort o’thing,” he said with a shrug, not wanting to simply take any decent offer he was given, he was fine with freelance jobs for now. “I can update it, but Stark’s gonna update his bot ‘ventually ta counteract my update.”

“Yeah o’course,” he said with a small smile getting his text book “Havin’ trouble wi’ the assignment due tomorrow? Or jus’ want help gettin’ ready for the test?”

“Both. Having Bucky as a best friend doesn’t give me much study time.” Steve said with a fond smile.

“I know ya an’ get the feelin’ ‘ts not all Bucky,” Fitz said with a small smile “Assignment firs’, we ‘ave more time to work on the test.”

“Was called tha’ by one person one time… ‘pressive you knew tha’,” Fitz said but he figured that once he’d been identified as the hacker Ultron could have easily found any footage and information about him no doubt. “Was impatient, figured I’d get ‘is attention.”

“Impatient huh? Well you should have practiced the virtue of patience a little bit longer. Father was ready to send out an invitation all personal, but then you just had to pull that little hacking stunt.“ Ultron leaned in closer his red optics glowing brighter as he scanned Leo, analyzing every change in facial expression, body posture or bioemissions to detect any hint of deception. "So that made us wonder if you already accepted someone else’s invitation, so to speak.”

“Oh was ‘e now? S’pose tha’s my bad, been good at waitin’ for things ta come to me most o’my life... bit fed up wi’ waiting,” he said with a shrug. He snorted at the implication “I’m not ‘cepptin any invitations. Few freelance one time deals bu’ no commitments, if I was workin’ for someone then I woulda made it harder ta find me, was jus’.... auditioning’ for Stark was all.”

“Engineer… One day,” he said with a small shrug glad the annoyance was gone from the others voice. “No need ta be sorry, understandable… I shouldn’ ‘ave stared. Though if it makes it better I was jus’ admirin’ the craftsmanship not cuz you’re different.”

“You could ask for a better look ya know… I don’t mind people who are generally interested,” Bucky suggested quietly, speaking the truth. He just hated people who singled him out but he knew there were a few kids in this school who liked this kinda stuff. In all honesty he liked it too but just wasn’t good at it. “Do you plan on building stuff like this one day then?”

“I didn’ want ta be rude... Though I s’pose I ended up bein’ jus’ that,” he said with a small smile. “So... Can I? ‘ave a better look I mean?” He nodded “Yeah, somethin’ along those lines a’ least.”

It wasn’t the first time he’d taken advantage of his unrestricted acess he’d earned to the lab, it wasn’t even the first time he’d fallen asleep while working on something and had to be woken. It was just the first time he’d been woken by someone not apart of the staff  “Wha’?” his head snapped up, flushing slightly when he realized his paper filled with data stuck to his face and tore it off “I uh… Thanks for tha’… didn’ realize I was even tired.”

Bucky wasn’t one to wonder through labs very often but he had noticed Fitz asleep as he passed by the room and figured he should probably wake the kid. “You should probably get more sleep at night,” he suggested quietly, trying not to laugh at the paper that Fitz had torn off his face. “Might make it a bit easier to stay awake when you’re workin’ on stuff.”

“I tend ta get a bit caught up in projects,” he said sheepishly with a yawn “Forget ‘bout things like sleeping an’ eating an’... well anything but wha’ I’m working on.”

Fitz looked up from where he was looking over the seating arrangements (they didn’t want a big wedding but between his family and friends at SHIELD and Steve’s family at the Avengers… Well they made it small as they could. And they had to be careful who sat where (because really him, Tony and Bruce in the same room never ended well). “An’ by ‘this’ you mean you? Course I do, wouldn’ ‘ave said yes otherwise would I?”

“Gotta be honest when I hacked Stark was kinda hopin’ for the man ‘imself. Not his puppet,” Fitz said the initial surprise of seeing the AI fading and he looked over it now with a cold scientific curiosity “Good ta know I got his attention at least.”

“Don’t make me pull out a Curious George reference on you, what was your name, shield’s monkey?” Ultron sneered and folded his arms across across his chest. His voice then took on a more serious tone. “If you wanted Master Stark, you should have gotten yourself an invitation, instead of forcing your way in, so now you have to deal with me.”
