How- How do you say no to that? She can’t say no to that! Her wings flutter slightly and she runs a hand over her braided hair,

“S-sure. Do you, know a place?”

“Sure I know the place! I uh... I haven’t actually had my day off this week, I could get the rest of the afternoon off... if it works for you!”

Are you even listening?

No. No he was not. What was the worst that could happen, she flapped her wings at him? Please! He’d be having roast hero for dinner if she tried. His curiosity quickly gets the better of him, and he surges forward to trap her in a kiss- short and fiery, rough enough to leave the barest ghost of a bruise... He pauses.

He licks his lips as he pulls away, seeming almost disappointed.

She didn’t even have time to blink, all of a sudden he’s pressed up against her, and he’s solid... more so than she ever imagined, kissing her like a damn professional and her brain is so unprepared for it that she nearly catches herself kissing him back.

The moment his lips withdraw from her and he pulls away that animal instinct kicks in like it’s the only thing in the world that’s going to save her. Before her brain catches up to everything that’s gone on in the past 30 seconds a closed fist is making its way, at speed, toward the smug cremation quirked bastards face.

Specifically, right between the bastards eyes.

The little bastard is just wiping his mouth off when he glances up-

“Oh, shit.”

Next thing he knows, his face is blazing pain and one eye is swollen shut from a poor attempt to dodge. He’s staring up at the sky above, seeing clouds scudding across a half-moon sky, and he’s grinning.

Had she accidentally smoked something this morning? Had somebody spiked her Latte?

This was NOT normal even for the weird Villianous man now on the floor in front of her. They’d met several times and he’d dipped before she had the backup to trap him.

The kissing? That was completely new and completely not okay and why on Earth was she not more disgusted by it! In fairness, she was terrified, but that was down to the fact she’d only kissed 3 people her entire life. Her first awkward boyfriend who’d only lasted about two weeks. The man that had imprisoned her for three long years of her life. And now him.

She stared down at the man silently while he recovered himself. Her brain was so far up her own arse that she didn’t even notice he was grinning until he spoke,

“What in the fuck is wrong with you?! You can’t just kiss somebody like that, get punch and then admit to not regretting it!” It was at this exact moment that Arcadia realised she waffled when she was uncomfortable.

‘Mhmm… now you’re getting interesting BBQ-Human.’ There’s a slightly too gleeful smirk across her face as she continues to take steps toward what had been his retreating figure.

“Well one seems boring and the other option happens to be full of variables not likely to go in your favour.” She explains, giving a swift but powerful flap of her wings, if he didn’t hear the mighty beating sound they made, he’d of surely felt the gust that touches his back, “You made a mistake my love… trying to W A L K away from a B I R D. O F. P R E Y. Showed you where on the back foot from the moment you caught my eye.”

Playful and sarcastic she may be, but she’d been tuned in and ready to go since the first words left her mouth.

If she ever dared called him barbeque human to his (barbequed) face she was liable to get her ass roasted literally and metaphorically, if he could even think of anything more than laconic comebacks (if he didn’t just default to long-winded bullshit…).

“Are you sure whoever owns this balcony isn’t going to come out and shoo us off?” Arcadia stands a few steps back from the edge, her own huge grey wings still unfurled, enjoying the feeling of the swirling wind through each feather. All the while she watched as the fireworks lit up the sky in a rainbow of colours. She idly thought back to the last time she’d stood and watched fireworks… Her last sports festival, but that was nearly four years ago now,

Her eyes move from him back to the fireworks when he mentions one in particular, nodding her head as she takes in the spectacle from their ‘borrowed’ viewpoint. The bright red colour of one of the spinning wheels reminds her of the wings adorned by the man beside her.

‘He’s barely two years older than me and look at where he is… I’ve been free for six months and I’ve not even got my life back together yet let alone applying for a full Hero License.’

She shakes her head briefly to try bringing herself out of her own thoughts, the smile returns to her face,

At the mention of her wings, she turns her head slightly over her shoulder to glance at them. Slowly rolling her shoulders and allowing them to fluff out to their full size, dragging across the ground as she takes a couple steps closer to the edge where he sits,

“Never had a problem with plumage... They don’t actually malt but I think that’s because of my Quirks abilities.” The back side of her wings felt like metal, even if the inside felt like feathers. She assumed due to this the feathers didn’t fall out and malt like a normal birds would. “I can force them to regrow, but they don’t naturally fall out. I think that’s why I was so lucky in recovering from my injuries.”

She pauses for a moment, and then gives them a gentle flap, a small breeze flutters away from her body, gently brushing past Hawks.

It became quite apparent to the winged woman that she was in an oh so dangerous game and would now be forced to pick the lesser of two evils. The devil himself or the fallen angel with blue flames. The heat from them was something beyond what she expected. He was clearly more powerful than she gave him credit for. To be fair she hadn’t given it any thought at all, her mind was to focused on F L E E.

The devil she knew, or the hell she might yet have not experienced. ‘He isn’t a wolf… I’m not afraid of wolves. I’m afraid of ghosts.’ Her own train of thought seemingly makes the choice for her. If she was going to burn, she’d do so surrounded by blue. Her hand reached out and held on to the wall next to where she’d fallen and she drags her feet up and under her. The pains seething but she’s endured far worse, and if she doesn’t get out now she will again.

“… Alright. No comments.”

The fire flickered out in the blink of an eye. The night air felt even crueler with the warmth gone, that last spark of light as it dissipated leaving afterimages in their eyes. If she voiced any of her thoughts, he would scoff at the very idea of it. She had at least gotten one thing right- he wasn’t a wolf, slavering for prey. He was a ghost without a name, a fire held together with scarred skin and staples. The disgusting look might be enough to scare off a minor-league criminal. Might.

She doesn’t trust him.

Her guts never steered her wrong before, but she doesn’t have the options to be picky. She slowly begins to move toward what she believes would be a more occupied part of town, and more importantly the most direct route out of their current location.

He follows behind like he promised, perfectly nonchalant as he follows the other. He’s burning with questions, ones he knows will be taken care of soon, but more arise with her query.

The date and the year…? What kinda nutjob was she? Did she have amnesia…? He side-eyes her before giving her an answer.

A violent wave of nausea hit her straight in the face and she practically flinched as the year went through her mind. She knew it had been over a year... but had it truly been that long? Had she endured that much?

She stops dead in the street. One hand stil outstretched to hold her steady against the brick wall of the building,

The comment about having a private jet built in made her chuckle quite loudly. She then slapped her hand over her mouth in fear she’d draw attention to the two of them as they walked. Once she’d settle down she responded,

“Yeah but there isn’t any onboard meals or drinks. Poor service really.” There’s an unmistakable sarcastic grin on her face. Her friends in school did always say to the winged Hero that if her mouth didn’t speak the words then her expression would sure as hell show them. There was no way for Valkyrie not to let somebody know what she thought of them. She was only ever actually capable of a poker face when she was in pain, and it took a lot of pain.

She had glanced to watch the photographers and such dive for a picture as some of the Heroes left the venue already. Most were old timers that had done this event at least ten times before. Others might have had the evening shift to get to. Crime never sleeps even when you have the billboard awards.

The bar was small and tucked away and Arcadia already saw it as a place where they wouldn’t get too much attention. Just how she liked it when she was going to have a couple alcoholic beverages. Nothing worse than an over the top fan finding you when you where three shots down and staggering down the street to try and get home because your wings decided to stop working and you worried about how much damage you’d cause if you tried flying anyway.

“Looks quiet. You sure you can handle that, Firecracker?”

A smirk came out to play on Katsuki’s lips. He imagined her having a utility belt stuffed with water bottles and snacks and chuckled once more. “You probably wouldn’t make much doin’ it. With the whole one-two person limit and all.”

The sound of glass clinking together and soft conversation filled the room as he walked in. He let out a sigh and let go of some of the tension that was built up in his shoulders over the last few hours. “I’m usually the loudest person in this place, Wings.” He slapped another patron on the back and grabbed his drink from the bar, downing it in a single gulp before slamming it back onto the table. 

“Oi, we saw that stunt ya pulled on the TV,” the bartender, who looked to be more aquatic than human, stuck one of his tentacles towards the early 2000′s tube that looked like it was being held together with duct tape and good will, “You sure know how to pull some shit, doncha?”

Katsuki laughed an unruly roar and ordered two beers, “I wouldn’t be the best if I didn’t stick up for myself.”

The bartender also laughed, cracked the tops to the beers with two of his tentacles, and slid them over to him.

Him being the loudest person in the place? Yeah... she could definitely see that. She could quite probably hear it ringing in her ears right now.

She thought he was talking to her. The bartender, until Ground Zero responded at least, she thought he was going to give her shit for cutting off the Number Two Hero. Then again with her wings folded tightly behind her and her hair down she looked quite different, with how much alcohol was flowing she wondered if any had actually realised it was her.

After seemingly surviving she took the beer and the seat next to the explosion Hero while she glanced around the old bar. She liked it. It wad very much her style, a little old, rugged. It had the character she always looked for in architecture. She noticed him fish out the cigarette and she answered before she realised what she was doing,

“Of course not it’s your life, just don’t put it out on the side of my stomach with all the other scars. I don’t want another.”

‘Why the F U C K did you say that out loud, Valkyrie?!’

For a brief moment she flinched at the sudden cheer, but she wasn't that slow, in time she was able to block the attack from minor villain she was chasing with her mentor. The tall hero in training was holding a villain by his fist as the man was wriggling in her firm grip like a fish on dry. Still, she glanced over the young woman with wide wings....how majestic. 

The young woman’s words did however make her chuckle, she gently shook her head,

Finally returning her attention to struggling villain, who was clearly outpowered by her quirk, she yanks him forward only to be greeted by a strong headbutt from her. Which resulted in knocking him unconscious, since well for now that was the best option to do.
