He would be a sliver of himself if he dared stray from kindness. After all the judgement he faced throughout the years while in the Wizarding World, he approached strangers with the treatment he lacked in the beginning. It was an easy sentiment to offer, and even easier to take away. There was no cause for him to be hesitant, only somewhat displayed in his penchant for good manners. She didn't seem unapproachable, though her lack of company would have suggested otherwise if he thought to question it.
While extending out a hand for her to shake, he nodded in greeting. "All've me friends call me Ted." He slid into the seat, relaxing into the cushioned back of the chair. "Say, it's a crackin' mornin', what's a lass like y'self doin' tucked away back 'ere? Should be out enjoyin' th' sun while it lasts, spring is bloomin' after all."
ย ย ย the man, ted, used a nickname too. well, that certainly made her feel better about choosing to go by "riri". though she suspected the reasoning behind his decision was far more innocuous than hers. surely he wasn't also a runaway turned wanted criminal following a bloody escape from years of imprisonment by a group of dark wix, nor a werewolf on top of that either... in spite of how desperately she desired to connect with someone, anyone who could understand what it was she'd gone ( and was still currently going ) through. she was a wolf without a pack and as dangerous a situation as that was, more than anything it just made her heart hurt.
ย ย ย โ ย ted... it's nice to meet you. โ she greets, taking his extended hand in her own and giving it a firm but friendly shake. his line of questioning as to her being there is expected though that certainly doesn't stop her heart from beginning to race all the same. it's not as though corin wanted to start what could well be a budding friendship on a foundation built solely of mistruths and lies but what choice did she have? kindness was an easy thing to offer but trust was different. it had to be earned. โ ย i, uh, i was actually expecting someone but that was well over an hour ago now so... โ trailing off, bashful words are accompanied by a smile of a similar nature, the actress in her beginning to shine as she moves to tuck a loose strand of her dark hair behind one ear, taking a deep breath before continuing. โ ย it's a little embarrassing but i'm a big girl. i can handle it. and well, you're here now so, the morning's not... entirely a lost cause just yet. โ
LOCATION: Rosa Lee Teabag, Diagon Alley DATE: May 9th, 1986 FEATURING: Edward Tonks and . . .
Dawdling around Diagon Alley at 10 a.m, his day had a later start than usual. Apparating from Whitby and back within a week had taken it's toll on him. It was a brief stay. A much needed visit to see his relatives, with Ted insisting that he came to see them for his pre-mature birthday celebrations rather than the other way around. Given everything that happened as of late, he didn't feel secure in making any other decision. His family were safe at home. It would remain that way while he investigated the dangers emerging around the city.
Now back in London, it was all about his findings. It never stopped, really, the worry that didn't push from the back of his mind, even when at home. What could be next. . . or rather, who. Brought back to the present as his order was called from behind the counter, Ted paid for his breakfast pastry and cup of honeybush tea before seeking a place to rest. He approached an empty seat, hesitating before claiming it as the table itself was not empty. Shooting the person a bashful smile, he asked: "Do y' mind if I...?"
ย ย ย in the relative safety of the morning's daylight, corin had slipped into the tea shop and begun playing pretend at normalcy. she was an actress after all... though no amount of experience with the wizarding world could tell her whether or not she was genuinely blending in. hanging about in the shadows of the streets was one thing but engaging in the day-to-day novelties as if she were one of them was a different thing entirely. still, she picks at her toasted almond croissant with an imagined ease, keeping an ear to the ground for mentions of her name as well as that of her father, silas.
ย ย ย it's not that corin thought she looked particularly unapproachable but slumped as she was in her chair, hood resting upon the back of her head as usual, it comes as a surprise that anyone would want to sit near her. sparing the man a glance, she gladly returns his smile. he had warm eyes and an even warmer smile. simply put, it was endearing to corin and despite her current trouble, she'd never been one to refuse or deny the kindness of strangers, โ ย oh no, of course not. you go for it. โ the she-wolf replies, it wasn't as if she could really say no anyway. the very last thing she wanted to do was cause a scene... corin had caused enough of those as it was. enough to last a lifetime. โ ย i'm riri, by the way. it's nice to meet you...? โ
ย ย ย another busy day in the alleys of wizarding london passes corin by. the crowds that gather there on daily basis, in spite of her little... incident, lending her a great deal of cover as both shoppers and workers alike scurry to and fro, place to place. leant up against the outside of the leaky cauldron, in a muster of casual calm, the hood of coat shielding her as usual, a gaze of clear blue surveys her surroundings carefully. hoping to ascertain if those milling about around her knew enough to pay her any mind or if she was still as unknown to them now as she had been before this particular mess unfolded, corin enjoyed people watching. it's in this search however that the she-wolf does feel a pair of foreign eyes upon her. unsettling as is, what takes her aback even more so is the initial belief that it's bellatrix black staring back at her. the all too familiar, characteristic dark of the woman's hair and clothes causing the beat of corin's heart to quicken. dark witch or no, the resemblance is enough to put the girl on high alert and so, whilst slipping the knife she'd previously nicked out of her pocket and inconspicuously up the sleeve of her oversized jacket, the hilt perched upon her palm, corin allows the woman to approach, a barbed greeting passing her lips, โ ย can i help you? โ she asks cooly, โ ย or do i just have something on my face? โ

ย ย ย a fugitive well and truly, corin was ducking through streets, in and out of back alleys, all while pulling her hood close. the world was searching for her... yet as far as she was aware, they still hadn't a name nor any photograph to identify her by. being a "muggle" in a foreign world of magic to which she scarcely felt she belonged had never been easy, it was a trial by fire in the beginning but it appeared, at long last, as though the obscurity of her existence was coming to finally be useful. with only descriptions of "the wolf" to go by, it afforded corin more time to explore her options. and with what she'd learnt from the crime scene photographer, the she-wolf had far more to go off of than before. in rounding an alley corner at breakneck pace, not wanting to be spotted, corin goes hurtling into another's body, โ ย fuck! โ she yelps, keen reflexes keeping her from hitting the ground and whilst she desperately wants to run, anxious of the attention their collision might have brought, the brunette is quick in ignoring her better judgement in order to offer the head of dark curls a helping hand, โ ย i didn't break you, did i? โ lighthearted, breathless words are said, perhaps, in poor taste... but after almost killing several civilians just nights beforehand, it's safe to say that corin was more than a little wary of the damage she could inflict. even when the form she took on was that of a mere human.

"Probably for the best," Remus replied, standing up and shaking his head. "Nasty scenes, the fewer people who were around the better, no knowing what would have happened if the alleys had been packed to the brim." Suffering from the same affliction as the person who had created the incident in question Remus felt awful for them. There was no knowing what they were feeling at the moment, or how much they even remembered.
"Well by the looks of things," Remus began, surveying the crime scene. "Four attacks. One, here, one there, one there and then one further down the street. I've been attempting to interview a few of the victims to help out the aurors, it's not really my area of work but with this many casualties I thought it was best to start trying to help where I can." He had never really been interested in auror work, not really liking eyes on him- but his work with them had proven he had an analytical mind and sometimes the best way of fitting more pieces into the puzzle was to go and find them yourself.
His gaze returned to the girl in front of him. She was a similar age to him but Remus couldn't recall placing her at Hogwarts, but not everyone in the wizarding world attended Hogwarts, she could have been from out of town. "Um no, I wasn't there. My friends and I were suffering from a classic ailment- drinking too much too early and ending up crashing out..." "
You from around here?"
ย ย ย hues of bright blue are fixated upon him, clinging to his every word, the longing to know closure from the previous night's events growing to near obsession as he eventually reveals that he had spoken to a few of the victims. the man had actually spoken to the unlucky four who'd been caught in her claws. such a relief of a revelation prompts thoughtless words to fall from her cold, chapped lips, โ ย ย so, there were no casualties? โ she asks, all of a sudden, for clarification. that blue in her eyes growing dark with a brewing storm of intense emotional conflict, altogether threatening to spill with tears of solace. for, corin had never killed somebody before... there had been close calls. on more than one occasion and even when murderous thoughts began to creep in when thinking back on the three wicked faces who stared back at her in that dungeonous basement, could she ever live with herself if she went through with it? knowing so intimately of how it tore silas' soul in two to look upon the corpse of his own sister? was there any difference between a friend or an enemy when they stared so lifelessly back at you?
ย ย ย the she-wolf couldn't be sure and scarcely knew if she wanted that particular confirmation. she wasn't keen on the idea of getting personal with strangers either, not after all she'd suffered at the hands of those unknown to her... but a certain amount of opening up had to be done in order to blend in and find allies, corin supposed. โ ย ย sort of but uh, not exactly... i'm a bit of a nomad. born here but grew up on the continent, travelling around. 'spose i picked the wrong week to visit home. โ she says rather flatly, keeping her voice low. it was one or two truths and a few lies. you could certainly claim she was visiting home, in a sense, because there, just paces away from them was the very basement she'd broken out of mere hours beforehand. the place she'd spent the past... however many years rotting away in but best believe, that subterranean hellscape could never have been considered home to her. home was wherever silas and kamali were, not a location but rather a feeling. one she'd fight tooth and nail to recover. โ ย ย and what about you? do you and your not trouble making friends live around here then? โ
where:ย knockturn alley who:ย all when: 26/03/1986
tw: blood
Kneeling down outside of The Grave Affair, Remus snapped another photo of the scene. Several large pools of blood had formed where the victims had been attacked, some pooling together so closely it was difficult to tell what belonged to each victim.
Remus suddenly felt the hairs stand up on the back of his neck. 'What if it had been him?' He mused. 'He was lucky to have such good friends.' A voice suddenly made his head turn, snapping up to the person who spoke. "Did you see anything last night?" He asked firmly. "Just trying to get a picture of what transpired."
ย ย ย pulling the hood of her coat close, corin darted through the alleys as if a wraith, stopping only when she happened upon the pools of blood she understood were of her making. so, this is where she was being kept all that time? knockturn fucking alley. the she-wolf's head can only rage against her, yelling at the stupidity of her being there whilst her heart begged earnestly for answers. some semblance of clarity and closure so, that corin could at least attempt to set aside the guilt beginning to gnaw away at her. not that she could ever be so foolish as to believe it would be that easy but she had to try. she had to know what went on, what was going on and most importantly, what had become of those she'd unknowingly attacked. after all, it was often said that perpetrators returned to the scene of their crimes and well, here she was.
ย ย ย entirely transfixed by the chaos she had wrought, the man's sudden inquiry takes her by surprise, causing bright blue hues to dart around frantically in the knowledge that if just one of those three demons set eyes upon her, it was curtains. โ ย ย i... was a little preoccupied actually. elsewhere. so, i didn't see anything, no... uh, what did happen? โ corin counters ingenuously, back stuck firmly to the wall, her waifish form, chain marks, scars and all, obscured by the shadow she rather wished would swallow her up. this was a performance, that's all... she assures herself, eyeing the wizard carefully. โ ย ย were you not there either, then? since you're having to ask... โ

TW: death, blood, violence
Corin Haleโs life hasnโt ever been easy, but over the past three years itโs gotten even harder. Her life before she was bitten was relatively normal, though it has been so long the details Corin now finds fuzzy. Growing up in Radlett just outside of London, she was once the eldest daughter of Atai and Ekaterina Hale. A school teacher and a lawyer, they had wealth and Corin once wanted for nothing. It was the classic tale of a girl from North London, Friday night dinner, trips to the synagogue and playing second parent to her two younger sisters. She would frog march to Haberdashersโ Girlsโ School, while her parents laughed. The world was at Corinโs feet and she rose each day with the knowledge that fate had been kind to her and given who she was, she could be anything she wanted. At seven years old what Corin wanted to do was be in the theatre. A larger than life character, she would organise her toys and her sisters to watch her perform, escaping to far off worlds where sheโd transport them. All she ever wanted was to be up there with the greats. and it was this desire that led her parents to take them one evening after school to The Globe Theatre to watch a performance. Wide eyed, Corin was in her element, sitting on her fatherโs shoulders, looking intently at the stage as Much Ado About Nothing played out.ย
When the performance concluded, Corin begged her parents to let her meet the cast and get her program signed. But with her sisters tiring, the answer was no, but Corin had other ideas. Never one to listen to things her elders said, Corin ducked past her parents in the crowd, made her way back to the stage and waited, program in hand. She waited a long while, the cold evening air wrapping its arms around her. Eventually the cast came out and the excitement hit. Hugging her programme she watched them leave. The excitement faded and Corin realised she was alone. She knew London well enough, despite being so young she had always been resourceful and began the walk to Blackfriars where she could explain to someone that sheโd gotten lost. Corin hadnโt made it far away from the theatre when fate intervened. It was a woman. At first anyway, who cornered her and asked if she was lost. Without thinking Corin told her of her plan to get back to Radlett and the woman offered to help. Taking her hand, they walked towards the station, until Corin was pulled into an alleyway and the woman was replaced with a wolf. Biting down hard on Corinโs shoulder, she felt the blood pool down her body and her life flash before her eyes. But before the wolf could continue to ravage her, it licked her shoulder and ran off into the night.ย
The screams attracted the attention of a couple who took her to the hospital and her parents were called. The next few days were a blur for Corin, in a trace due to the pain and home from school due to the attack. The night of the first full moon was where everything came into focus. One moment she was herself, the next she was an animal, running through the streets of Radlett howling at the moon. When she awoke she was in a park, covered in grass and mud, with every memory of where sheโd been and frightened this was now her life. Hysterically she told her parents and begged them to try and understand but they didnโt believe her until it was too late. Trying to get outside of her house to transform, Corin watched in horror as her father held her back. She turned, he was holding on to her. Then suddenly he wasnโt and sheโd escaped through the patio door. Only small due to her age, Corin wasnโt able to fully attack him, but when she returned home she found him clawed to pieces and the carpet covered in blood. Her parents tried desperately to help. They took her to hospitals but no one believed them. On full moons they chained her up in the garage where no one would see. She was a schoolgirl by day and a monster by night. Her life wasnโt normal. At night she would listen to her parents argue and cry while her sisters hugged each other in the doorway. Corin knew she was the issue and while she was there theyโd never be safe.ย
One day, she packed up her backpack with all her belongings. Took it to school and left during lunchtime, with one thought in mind. Finding the wolf who had bitten her. She got by by stealing things, pick-pocketing and checking herself into hostels to avoid being on the streets before KAMALI SKENDER [mother] found her. Kamali ran Le Cirque Des Rรชves, a travelling circus that was making its way round Europe and was stopping off in London for the summer. Aside from the strange woman who changed her, Kamali was the only werewolf that Corin had ever met and when she asked her to join the circus Corin agreed. Kamali became like a mother to Corin, teaching her everything she needed to know about the world she now belonged to and giving her a home. Corin didnโt think sheโd ever find happiness after the bite, but with Kamali and then a few weeks later when SILAS CRUMP [father] joined the circus, she believed her life could be different. Time seemed to move differently for them. They became a family, performing in wizarding districts around the world and spreading their joy. By the time they returned back to London, Corin was twenty-two. A woman and an esteemed member of the troupe that she hoped to one day help run with her parents. London was not how Corin had remembered it and she watched as her father changed in its presence.ย
The once happy seemed darker and people whispered of dark wizards and cloak and dagger plans made by candle light.ย Feeling unwell after a performance, Corin walked back to their wagon to find her father frantically packing his belongings. Instantly her mind became sharp. Silas would never leave him and Kamali, something had happened and she wasnโt going to let him slip away without her help. Cornering him, Corin began packing her things and insisted he take her with him. He revealed everything to her, about his past, his family before them, the death of his sister and the two sorcerers who had come to collect. The pair slept in inns, apperated daily and tried to blend in but eventually RABASTAN LESTRANGE [adversary] and BELLATRIX BLACK [adversary] caught up with them. It was a full moon in Nottingham and just before Corin could shift, she felt her body be swept up. Her father was gone and Corin was chained in a basement by a collar. Having taken the wolfsbane her father had brewed Corin knew her mind and knew something was wrong. Most of the time she was alone in the basement, occasionally brought food and drink by the gruesome pair or SEVERUS SNAPE [adversary].ย They wanted access to the circus, to the creatures. They wanted to know everything about them but Corin wouldnโt say a single word.ย
They used spells to try and make her talk, wicked magic that made every single part of her body scream out in pain.ย But Corin wouldnโt say a word.ย She was unsure how much time had passed before she saw the world again. They had stopped giving her wolfsbane a long time ago as punishment and were normally quite rigid with the checks until one night they werenโt. Severus had chained her up, but the chains hadnโt been changed in some time, worn by the nights spent pulling on them. When Corin transformed the chain broke from the wall and with the weight and power she now wielded it was nothing for her to break through Mr Mulpepperโs wooden basement door even with its enchanted locks. A rabid animal hungry for blood, Corin steamed through the streets, attacking anything in sight. ANDRESSA PARKINSON [victim], RODOLPHUS LESTRANGE [victim] and ROSALINE DAVIS [victim] were not known to her, faces in a crowd people in her way that were lucky enough to have people round them who could fight her off with their magic. When Corin came round on Hampstead Heath she had every memory of the night before, her life spent in the basement and her burning desire to find her family and get revenge. Now free, Corin hopes to learn everything she can about Bellatrix, Severus and Rabastan to make them pay for what theyโve done.ย
