hush my darling hahahahaaa. Love itttt. I think you captured the one-liners really well and the exaggerated, hyperbolic aspects of the American Dad universe perfectly.

I second Jasâ love. Great banter between Rita and Jamie - one can tell there is a history between then from the dialogue alone. The point at which Jamie passes out is also a wonderful humorous point in the piece. What a stellar way for Jamie to get out of answering that question about sexual history too!
The physiological, morphological change creates intrigue and hooks the reader to find out more about where the transformation will lead to. I am definitely hooked. Â Â
Boy, thereâs a lot going on. I love it. The humour in this is so wonderful - that playful back and forth between Rita and Jamie is a reaction to the danger of the situation. Itâs an instinct for him, which is marvelous character building.Â
Also, you havenât over described anything. Itâs precise and concise and I canât wait to see how you develop this intriguing story.Â

Carmen Inciting Incident
Wonderful. You create Carmen as a wonderful ingenue. She battles between being accepted or abiding to her sense of virtue, propriety or even fear.Â
Fear of the unknown is always a crippler and for her to no know what might happen or how she might feel if she followed through in a moment of physical intimacy is a very resonant feeling.Â
Exchange between Gerald and Carmen is resonant of a teenage encounter. Gerald has an underlying sense of sinister to him âget on your kneesâ which creates intrigue and we sense that this will be the start of Carmenâs reputation building up for better or worse. Great stuff.
This really needs to be emphasised more on the page, I know, I know.
Reaction to inciting incident: Escape
Obstacle: Lack of direction/ being alone
Reaction to obstacle: Acceptance
I think your own criticism is probably fair, but the action is clear and the relationship between Ellie and Lex is really nicely sketched out.Â
The gunshot moment could be a little clearer, but aside from that, itâs super visual and engaging. Good stuff.

Tâis dense and more like prose that script, I know, but it is far from the final draft. Worry not.
Set up is Manâs initial run through of his day, and his emotional detachment and what have you.
Inciting is my girl Constance pointing out to Man that heâs dull and itâs making his alcoholism impersonate disco lights. Â
Well, I wish I could have written that Velcro line. That was great. The visual of this manâs day, the details constantly changing and adjusting, is wonderful. At first, I thought it might be implying a wearying passage of time, this man just caught in the grind, with only unimportant details changing each day. But the actual thing going on here is intriguing, even if it is sorta non-specific.Â
My only qualm youâve already identified - itâs super wordy, and dense. I mean, the writing is wonderful, and a pleasure to read, but I get the feeling this sequence might last eight or nine minutes on screen.Â
That said, really promising start. Iâm keen to see where this goes.Â
I just love this idea sooooo much and it kills meh to think that theres going to be so much to explore that we won't see beyond the 12 pages :( I think itâs genius, and youâve captured the visual so beautifully that the transitions happen effortlessly in the readers mind. The fact that it has minimal dialogue is its own kind of beauty, because now we know that any words that are spoken are serving a purpose. Also, A+ velcro analogy. Everything about this is just so great

âRough Crowdâ - Set up and Inciting Incident. (A lot of you might have already read this as I based it off a script I did for a PSW task a while back pls donât judge me)
omg yes, yes. Just yes. I love the dynamic between Jack and Todd, and how well they balance each other out. The melancholy of their situation, which they're aware of but aren't willing to be consumed by, is also balanced out well with the humour. Love it, just love it.
same stuff y'allÂ
10-12 Page Script Breakdown
Set Up
Teenage house party. Carmen is quiet, blends between rooms unnoticed. Sheâs new to town. Sips coke; a wallflower.
Inciting Incident
Sheâs invited to play a game of Seven Minutes in Heaven.
Obstacle No.1Â
Carmenâs bottle is spun. It points towards the perennial school ass.Â
Reaction
Though uncomfortable, drunken peers pressure her into continuing. She chooses to take part. Enters closet with the boy.Â
Obstacle No.2
Heâs handsy. Smells of alcohol and cigarettes. Face full of acne. Carmen has never kissed a boy before and isnât interested in having her first kiss with him.
Reaction
Carmen tells him no. Heâs forceful. She tells him that he can tell everyone that they had sex tonight if he lets her leave.Â
Obstacle No.3
He complies though only if thereâs photographic âevidenceâ of their time together.
ReactionÂ
The next Monday. Carmen is at school. Hot girls - the âinâ girls - flock around Carmen. Theyâre supportive. Outraged on her behalf. Pass her a photo on their phones that has circulated throughout the weekend. Itâs of Carmen, the revealing photo that she willingly took in the closet.Â
She feigns upset.Â
Conclusion
Everyone knows who Carmen is.
Itâs so interesting that Carmen is complicit to her own undoing in a way, even when she is so detached and emotionally unaffected by the things that seem to engulf every other personâs life. Makes you think about what kind of place she is at in her life that she does not care at all about the fact that she is part of a system that, her who life, she has been separate from
Industry Perspectives: Week 8
Set-up:
We are introduced to twelve-year-old Norah who lives with her divorced father in a suburban down in mid-west USA. Her father has recently acquired a new girlfriend, a veterinarian, and Norah is less than pleased about it. Her wound is abandonment. Her mother left her at a young age, and since then she has struggled to understand healthy relationships.Â
Inciting Incident:
Norah dissects a frog at school. She takes the task very seriously, and executes the dissection with precision and intelligence.Â
Protagonistâs action taken in response to Inciting Incident
On her way home from school, Norah kills a real frog. Over time, Norah goes on a murder spree, killing her neighbours pets. She despises her dadâs veterinarian girlfriend so much so that she enjoys bringing pain to the very things which the girlfriend tries to heal. Norah figures that if she kills all the neighbourhood pets, the girlfriend will have no clients, and be forced to relocate.Â
Obstacle #1 encountered in the course of taking action
A boy from school sees Norah killing a dog. Norah has a crush on this boy, and she is embarrassed to be found in a vulnerable situation.Â
Protagonistâs response to Obstacle:
Norah confides in him, and he understands her. He decides to help her kill more animals, and they begin working as a team. Their friendship blossoms and for once Norah understands what it feels like to have a friend. She doesnât feel so alone anymore.Â
Obstacle #2 encountered in the course of taking action (if appropriate):
A tornado rips through the town. The tornado passes directly through Norahâs property, lifting the loose soil off the hundreds of dead animal carcasses. The dead animals go swirling through the air, and scatter around the suburban town to be found by their heartbroken owners.Â
Protagonistâs response to Obstacle
In panic, Norah blames the murders on the girlfriend. The whole town is aware that the animals originated from Norahâs backyard, and so she blames it on the girlfriend who had moved in with them. Since Norah is young and has a âgood girlâ reputation, the town believes her accusation. Story ending â Reward or Reversal? And why?
Reward. In investigating the girlfriend, the police discover that she has been running an illegal fur selling business. Thus, she assumed to be guilty of the pet murders and Norah gets off the hook. Norahâs wound of abandonment has been healed thanks to her new friend who she had made along the way.Â
as Annabelle would say, this is so fresh. Youâve got it really well planned out, with all the concise details pinned down, it seems, which is exciting. Canât wait for the final piece
Week Eight Blog - Industry Perspectives
Set-up:
The story starts in Piazza San Marco, Venice, in the late 1700s. It is the last day of Carnevale.
We are introduced to Francisco, a successful shop-owner and reputable figure of Venice. On his arm is his new lover, the young and beautiful Magdalena, who was once married to his greatest rival â Fiorello. They watch people in colourful masks dance. Magdalena asks Francisco to dance with her, but he resists and encourages her to join the throng of people.
Inciting Incident:Â
Francisco watches Magdalena dance, but he does not see her. The way her dress caresses her form, the sheen of her midnight hair in the moonlight, the grace of her step, they remind him of his deceased wife, Ornella. For a moment, there is warmth again, the faintest hint of a smile. When Magdalena calls out to him, however, this warmth dissipates. He does not love this woman, and this inspires guilt.Â
Response to Inciting Incident:
The next morning, following Ash Wednesday Mass, Francisco goes to confession and admits that he does not love Magdalena because his heart belongs to Ornella. The priest, a newcomer, listens to his confession and informs him that there may be a way to bring her back.
Obstacle #1
Magdalena walks into the church, looking for Francisco. Before Francisco can find out more information, the priest dismisses him.
Obstacle #1 Response
The night after, Francisco, seeking answers, returns to the church. He demands that the priest speak to him, and the priest relents. He explains that God has bestowed him with a gift, a very rare gift, to bring back the dead. Francisco asks him if he can bring Ornella back. He says that he can.
Obstacle #2
However, there is a price. There is always a price. To bring back the dead, then another must take their place â âa life for a life.â Francisco must find a participant for this resurrection, willing or unwilling.
Obstacle #2 Response
After making love to Magdalena, Magdalena tells him that she loves him. This inspires Francisco, and he asks her if she would do anything for him, to which she quickly responds by saying yes. He brings her to the isle of San Michele, where the dead are buried, and they meet the priest.
Magdalena is suspicious. They enter the mausoleum and find where Ornella is buried. When the priest withdraws an athame, Magdalena panics and makes to run, but Francisco knocks her unconscious. The ritual continues.
Conclusion â Reward or Reversal? And why?
Itâs a twisted kind of reward in that Francisco does get what he wants â his wife. The priest resurrects Ornella, but she is decrepit, jaundiced and absent. Francisco does not recognise this as his wife. But by the time he turns to address the priest, Ornella lunges and pulls him into her tomb.
Also hoping to end it with a scene involving the priest, Fiorello, and the priestâs goal/reward.
ooh snap I love that ending. Itâs a bit of pyrrhic victory with the result, despite being so sought after, is really not worth its consequences. Which is both bitter sweet and a little horrifying in this context

Week 8 (9?) - sketch of plot
A story change? Shocker. The other story was just too ambitious, and this idea seemed much better for a 10-12 pager. Just a quick redo of the blog assignments on setting and character so this piece makes sense (no, you donât have to read it. Thatâs Lukeâs honour):
In this world, every person is assigned a guardian angel, whose duty it is to follow them until their death. When they do die, they submit the soul of the person to a grim reaper, who can only identify the soul because their guardian angel essentially âsubmitsâ them to death. We follow Grim, a grim reaper who was once a guardian angel to a young boy, who he was incredibly attached to. Knowing that the child will suffer a horrendous death, Grim uses his powers to âpostponeâ his death. This violation of the rules costs him his job, and he is demoted to a grim reaper instead. As a result of his actions, the child also suffers a more horrific end (WOUND). With that burden, Grim carries out his duties determine to never grow attached to a human being ever again, as it will mean that he will also not have to be hurt again (FLAWED BELIEF).
 Set-up
Grim Reaper is waiting at the base of a cliff, waiting for the three souls who need to be collected throughout the night.
Inciting Incident
He collects his first soul, but soon after, an unlisted soul in ghost form â a woman with no memories â also arrives, having committed suicide. Unable to identify her, and therefore unable to reap her soul. They are both incredibly confused and at a loss as to what to do.
Protagonistâs action taken in response to Inciting Incident
Unable to reap her, Grim takes the ghost to the Grim Reaper Association to his supervisors. The only way that a soul can be identified is through their Guardian Angel, one of which is assigned to every person until their death. However, the woman has no sign of a Guardian Angelâs imprint, and therefore cannot be identified. Souls who die early often do so due to a clerical error, and their true timing of death is rarely a long time away. The only solution is to wait for Grim to have a listing that comes up empty â that listing would assumedly be the woman. Once she is identified, her soul can be reaped. As a result, the ghost has to accompany Grim until her listing comes up.
Obstacle #1 encountered in the course of taking action
The ghost is forced to accompany Grim until the time comes for her collection, but is incredibly prone to getting into trouble. Grim initially keeps his distance, or leaves her in one place and comes when his duties are over for the day. However, in a world plagued by demons who feed on uncollected souls, she is a constant target.
Protagonistâs response to Obstacle
After saving her after several near-death (pun unintended) experiences with demons, Grim is left with no choice but to have her with him around the clock. His initial agitation with her eventually fades, and the two begin to form a bond â the first time Grim has ever allowed himself to be vulnerable and care for another being in over a century. He affectionately calls her Bloody Mary (as she has no name and her suicide left her ghost with blood-stained clothes). With her âdeathâ impending, Grim is forced to confront the reality that he will once again be hurt because of his attachment to humans who he will never see again.
Story ending â Reward or Reversal? And why?
Reward â even though her eventual time arrives, Mary leaves Grim with the life lesson that, even though she will move on, he doesnât have to be hurt. Instead, he can use their good times to keep him going, and accept that if heâs tried his best, it is enough.
In the end, Grim continues with his duties feeling positive, no longer burdened by guilt.
