It wasn’t rare to have guys -- or girls -- hitting on Sheri Holland. It was actually relatively normal. But never anything more. Her way of life often seduced her partners into wanting her as a friend, and nothing more. She was after all, an amazing friend. Going above and beyond for each and every one of them. But, in this moment she almost felt like possibly there could have been something. Anything. Shit, all the petite really wanted was for someone to ASK HER OUT. Just one date, was that too much to ask? 

Just as the two approached that moment where she thought maybe they’d invite her to get coffee or dinner-- A familiar voice picked up, and soon, her flirtatious friend was meeting the ground. Her eyes widened in disbelief as she just studied the man below her. Head shaking, brows knitting together and fear pulsing through her veins the doe-eyed girl looked to the source of this sudden brutality. 

                             ` ——— ▲ —- HAPPY BIRTHDAY! or, well, that’s what was going on in the other car. this car was considerably more sullen - the tension between the two bodies was so big, he was shocked they’d managed to fit any luggage. if mason had of known he was going to be playing chariot boy, he’d of been less eager to go on the little road trip. he should have known better; if he didn’t know better, he’d think he was only here because of his car. that’d figure. wasn’t the worst of it, though - he was stuck with her.

This was so bizarrely out of character for Sheri. Normally she could get along with just about anyone; but being stuck in the vehicle with the man she knows the least about she couldn’t HELP but be a bit butthurt about the situation. Her smile never surfacing, and mind drifting to the other car. Truthfully, she came on this adventure because she hoped she’d be able to get close to the birthday boy himself. There was a pretty specific gift she wanted to give him. But, she feared her dreams would continue to be just that-- dreams.

   he was expecting something along those lines at the offer – nevertheless, he felt like the offer still needed to be there. “ – what about college, what were you going to do anyway? stay here?” he asked softly, a frown on his lips. “ it’s your decision, sheri. i just – the offer is there, okay? i want to … i want to be able to be there for you. this is on me, too. “

The two were out, again, dress shopping. A broad smile on her features at the other’s compliment, she’s unable to stop herself. “Please, I bet if you put it on it’d be like, god damn.” She hummed, now standing before the three mirrors in the dressing room, examining each and every aspect of herself. But alas, the longer she gazed the dimmer the light grew within her gaze. Every girl had some issue with their own bodies, and Sheri’s was her chest, without a doubt. Why else would she wear sweaters every single day. 

     “ sheri, seriously. stop with all this preppy shit. “ the blonde can’t help but smile at the girl’s optimism though, “ i’m not cheer squad material. it’s not my — thing. “

He watched as her brilliant smile faded as she thought over the words.  It was a look he was accustomed to when Mrs. Steinberg asked him to ‘help’ her French students with their conversational skills.  “It means 'romantic,” he explained.  "D'amour … is a contraction of 'de amour’ which translates to 'of love’.  A 'rendes-vouz’ is an appointment.   So a 'rendes-vouz d'amour’ is an 'appointment of love’, or … as you Americans like to say … a 'date’.“  His brows perked a bit curiously.  "It is my understanding of your culture that asking someone for coffee is a form of inviting someone you like for a casual date.  I apologize if I misinterpreted your question.”

    JD’s eyebrows rose slightly at Sheri’s comment, looking down and smiling softly but he looked away for a moment before answering her, “ I guess I’m TIRED, I haven’t been sleeping great since Hannah… ” JD looked down again, talking about Hannah always hurt, she had been his friend from before he left to Sherwood and he was here now to find out EXACTLY what happened… thought it looked like he was about to get incredibly distracted , “ so you think I look GOOD, do you? ” JD teased, looking back over at her with a PLAYFUL smirk on his face.
