god help us

based on the sheridan website it’s currently $10,464 for the first year. it varies a little every year though.

Since there was an ask about this a few days ago I thought I'd make a post about it here. Sheridan has cancelled the open house and portfolio reviews that were scheduled for Nov 25th. You can still schedule tours at the school but it doesn't look like portfolio reviews will happen this year.

EDIT: portfolio review that was supposed to happen at the open house has been cancelled this year because of the college strike.

Currently we know likely as much as you do. You’ll receive emails via your sheridan email but you can check for updates hereAs of right now (the 9th of October) this is the most we know:“The earliest possible date for an academic strike is October 15, 2017. However, there is no guarantee that a strike will occur, or when it will happen, as it could be delayed until later in the term. Colleges will receive five days’ notice, should a strike be called, at which point, the Sheridan community will be notified. “

J- yep! Unless someone switches their schedule or drops you’ll be with the same group for the two semesters

J - the only textbooks you’ll have are the ones for your English class and elective. You can get them at the school bookstore or buy them online on amazon or other sites. You could also check out the Sheridan flea market Facebook group, someone might have a used copy they’re trying to sell (the bookstore also has some used copies but I’m not sure how the price compares).

Imo the most important thing is to not fall behind on the smaller weekly assignments. The profs are pretty forgiving and will accept late assignments as long as you communicate with them for the most part, but those smaller things really add up and make finishing your major projects much harder when you have a backlog of weekly paintings or small drawing assignments to complete. Aaaand take the free time you have from good time management and go to extra life…2 or 3 times or more each week, if you can. You won’t have nearly as much time to do it after 1st year.

so for example you can see there that there they’re all level 1000 except for Creative Leadership and Problem Solving which would be level 2000 !

M-  Yep! You can find out how to download them if ya click here .

M- As long as theres no prereqs yeah you should be good to go :0 the only 2000 or 3000 course I can see being offered for this semester tho without a prereq is Mythology in Literature, Art and Film . And if you mean during the summer you can take extra electives for about $400 each. If you want to take an elective during the fall/winter school year though you might want to call the school about that. Just a heads up though I wouldn’t recommend it just because the workload can be a lot;;;;;

M- This was shared in another group, its fairly subjective but for the most part its a handy guide.  Really though it depends what your interests are, personally I lean more towards the psychology courses but thats just because I enjoy psychology aha;;;; The creative problem solving course imo is extremely easy and if you could I’d rec leaving it towards year 3 or 4 just to have a stress free elective. I usually hear good things about the media/film electives, however they go super fast so make sure to either be up early to snag a slot or have some sort of back up!

M- If you want to switch classes for a different time, you have to find someone who wants to switch into your class and switch with them. If you want to switch though prepare to have a valid reason instead of “just because” you’ll have to go through the OTR to switch your courses. This is what I’ve been told from a recent graduate:“Hey guys! From experience they are really trying to get people not to switch. It causes a huge hassle for the reg office from what I have heard over the years. I would deff encourage you to keep trying but it will be very hard to switch without a good reason! Each class/ group has a max number of students per group and they can’t just place you in and go over the max. And yeah, you can try and switch with someone but too many people are beginning to switch “just because” which is the reason it is so hard to do now.”Hope that helps!

M- As far as I know you can, I wouldn’t entirely recommend it though with commuting, unless having it a different campus is easier for you :0 I’d double check with the OTR though.  Because if you want to choose it online I’m close to positive access sheridan just selects the courses at your campus, so you may have to do it in person or over the phone (if they do that, im not entirely sure.) 

M- Could you possibly submit a screenshot? Right now it kind of sounds like you don’t have your schedule yet if i’m correct? If you’re trying to select an elective we aren’t allowed to do that until the 18th @ 7am. (However it could open later, but they are not open right now.) 

E-It needs to be in the time slot they gave you. You can go to the OTR desk and request a time slot change if you’re that desperate to take that class as long as it doesn’t conflict with any other of your classes. M- As for taking actual online courses I believe you can do the classwork whenever but I’d recommend at least “attending” the class the day of in case theres any time sensitive projects. 

E- M also wanted me to mention to keep an eye on the elective you want because sometimes the selection opens up early (last year it opened up 4 days early) and classes fill up HELLA fast.
