Sheetz

This week I will be posting some of my favorites from a story on the family owned Sheetz gas station empire, home of the shmuffin, the shmagel and the shmiscuit out in this month’s Fortune 500 issue. No stranger to gas station food myself, I jumped at the opportunity when Michelle Wolfe, photo editor extraordinaire, tapped me for this story in March.

My default order is two hot dogs with sauerkraut, bacon and boom boom sauce, plus an order of mozzarella sticks with buffalo sauce for dipping.

Sometimes, if I already feel like a piece of shit, I go for a veggie sub with yellow mustard, oil/vinegar, pepper and oregano.

I recently went through a pretty dark and heavy Shwingz phase, tossed in buffalo sauce with extra buff on the side for dipping.

About once a year I get a Sheetza with banana peppers, but those are usually kind of disappointing. I always seem to forget though.
