Ghostly Goats

It's hard to tell but y'all might know me as Ghostram- or you don't that's okay too. I never really Talked much both on and offsite. You DO probably know some of my AD designs including the first and original MM mascots Lovepire and Cinnawitch! Amongst other designs that I got on site, such as Sea Punk and Queen's Rabbit, and naturally I designed many more during my time on the site. I joined Goatlings over 10 years ago, which frankly I didn't even realize until going to write this up! A lot of this will just be my unorganized thoughts and feelings about the site, and unfortunately most of it will be about the tail end of it since that's what I remember best now. It sucks a lot that a lot of my memories now are just really sad and bitter, because I know a LOT of good things happened in the beginning of it all. Goatlings, for a long time, was a HUGE inspiration for me, from designs goats for the site, making up my own stories and ocs (including goat ocs, ofc) and designs, and I know I wouldn't be who I am today if not for this site. I met a lot of people on there, many who I don't talk to a lot anymore, but the memories are still there yanno? You can't just get rid of those, regardless of if they were good or bad.

I saw a LOT of crazy shit during my time. People getting banned for all sorts of stuff- which isn't new. At the end a LOT of people got banned, but big bans without warning has NEVER been new, and has always had a sprinkle of bullshit in it. There's always been drama, you just never saw it because Kris fought tooth and nail to keep things like that quiet. Even if you spoke about it OFFSITE you'd run the risk of getting banned, because she didn't want people who had negative feelings/opinions about her on her site. I'm glad it all came to a head, whatever the saying is. That people finally see the hollow nothingness that lies beneath glitter and sprinkles. Like it was always weird you could get banned for speaking offsite- and I don't mean people who were banned for being ACTUALLY bad people, but like people who went off site to say "yanno what fuck [user] they pmo" like... things that, in hindsight, were pretty mean but they overall didn't do anything. People who could just block each other and move on with their lives but if you didn't like little Mary Sue and you DARED to say it you'd get banned without warning and without a second thought. That was WEIRD. You may be able to control what people say ON your site, but you can't control what they say OFF your site. It should've always been case by case scenarios- that there are a lot of various factors that could influence you're ability to access the site- but there were probably PLENTY of awful people who were on that site that never got caught simply because they didn't talk to others as publicly.

Site management overall was just bad though. They never had staff to even look at and review possible ban cases so they simply just brought down the hammer and moved on. I feel bad for the staff, I really do. I knew for a long time it was bad, and it sucks that it took even longer for it to finally get out there just exactly how bad it was, but I'm glad they're all free from their chains now. Find yourself some new projects to work on!!!! Live you lives!!! In over 10 years the site literally didn't change AT ALL. We cannot be that surprised that this site finally shut down, and the fact it lasted this long was a SURPRISE. We never got the arcade update and lets be real we never EVER were. They did not have an arcade update. And honestly? That sucked. I think that if Kris pulled a hoyo and dropped a real bonified arcade update before shit hit the fan too hard the site would've lasted at least another year or two I'm JUST saying- Jokes aside it really didn't change. We simply kept getting new little pngs to collect and that was it. I get that's the point of the site, but if you don't have anything that really keeps people drawn in it gets boring, yanno? It's sad to look at how the site was when it was in its final days, and to think about how it was when I first joined and realize that there wasn't anything different. If anything, it was worse! The updates were slow and clunky due to lack of communication and overworked staff, and the fact it went on like that for years is REALLY bad. I don't know, the whole site just melts into a bowl of disappointment at the end of the day.

Last thing I want to say is FUCK those guys for banning my girlfriend for- according to them- botting. In the stupid fishing game. The dinky little FISHING GAME- which wasn't even a GAME and you only ever got JUNK! IF you even got anything!!! Like literally no warning, no contact, nothing. Had to jump through hoops to even TRY and ask about it, to which we got no proof and they just sort of said "sorry the LOGS are the words of the LAW here sooo kick rocks" like... okay well your petsite closed down sooo kick rocks. I'm just bitter about it, and watching the site burn down was very amusing for me.

At the end of the date though the rules were outdated, much like everything else on the site. Who knows, maybe we'll all meet again someday on another petsite. You never know!
