he could definitely do three flights of stairs. of course. they’re just stairs. right ? at first he didn’t think too much about it. it wasn’t until it was probably his fourth trip up after forgetting his pocket chapstick , then his sunglasses , then his sunscreen because everyone knows how much he burns and now - he left his phone of all things up there. it didn’t take long before the sweat began to show in a circle around his pits. he leaned against a near doorframe to catch his breath. ‘ oh hey. ’, he noticed one of his friends in their room. ‘ i just… y’know. ran 5 miles. just getting back. mind if i chill out here for a bit ? ’, he asked even though he entered the room and flopped onto their bed by the time. 

"i'm more used to beer pong, so i'm hoping my skills translate over." she chuckled, lifting up the small white ball. "are you ready?"

" would you ? " arlo pressed, beaming as he trailed behind. although he needn't ask, he knew that when fixed with an idea, shanley would follow through, especially when for a friend. at her poking, a scoff falls from his lips, feigning offense as he raises a hand to his chest as if winded. " you've been talking to nicky a little TOO much, " the man suggests, his tone light, clearly teasing the woman as he pinches at her side - his thumb catching on her puffer jacket. " i foolishly assumed i'd be rooming with him again, but you're my saving grace so it seems. i don't think we'd be welcomed back if it came down to nicky and i staying together. " as the pair entered the rink, arlo found himself somewhat surprised at the near emptiness, his face revealing so, as he glanced between the ticketing station and the ice itself. " you wouldn't be able to stop me if i did ... i'm too fast, " he banters, a grin spreading across his features as he inches towards the front desk - his body turned towards the woman. " but i suppose i could take it easy on you .... for the price of a hot chocolate after all this. "

" you know how i feel about cheesy 80s music, " arlo grinned, raising his brows in the woman's direction before motioning for her to lead the way. " as long as they play toto, i won't throw a fit ... otherwise, i might be a TERRIBLE roommate the remainder of the trip. i apologize in advance. "

"i will personally request they have a toto hour." shanley smiled as she followed the path to the rink. stopping at the front door, her hands reaching for the door handle, "wait," tilting her head back, "who said you weren't one already?" she joked, pushing the entrance doors open. as they entered the lobby, shanley quickly noticed how vacant the rink was, only a couple of people ahead of them in line for skates and a handful of others on the ice. she stood beside the other, eyes wandering around the area before falling onto the man, "you're not gonna show off, right?" she teased with a cocked brow, "like not skate circles around me because it's what you do for a living."

" is it cliché if i suggest we go skating first or should we hit the slopes ? " the man wondered aloud, his gaze drifting between the crowds moving around them.

"given that i'm a shit skier, i'd say skating is your best idea." she replied, a finger pointing in the direction of the indoor rink, "plus i heard they're playing cheesy 80s music today."

"come on, imagine the pile of people knocked out cold in the resort's lobby." production more than likely sat for hours, trying to decide what would be the most humiliating and entertaining living situation for this friend group, "i'm sure they're excited to get cuts of all of us trying to get into those little space ships they, lovingly, call lifts. i almost tripped getting into one on the way up here and i was sober." she recalled, rolling her eyes, "who do you think is going to be the one that won't make it back up?"
