TURN pt. 1/12 — Shaun Kardinal
This piece is not finished. This piece is only the start.
Proposed title: Dust Proposed conclusion: Online Raffle
TURN is a year-long collaborative exhibition, where twelve artists take turns transforming a single piece. Details
Very happy with how this piece turned out. It’s the first tangible work I’ve created in nearly two years. When I started up the Turn project, I had no idea what I wanted to make for the start. I knew soon enough that I wanted to make something about origins—an atom, or perhaps something rising from the ground. I devoted a few weekends to really get into the thing, and found myself again cutting up old postcards. After all this time, something about them still holds for me, and I’m eager to play again.
Origins... for Turn. See the beginning tomorrow night!
Trying new things with old postcards for the start of Turn, a year-long collaborative exhibition series of a single, evolving piece.

1/12. Kicking off this inaugural series is project director and platform creator Shaun Kardinal, offering up his first tangible work in nearly two years for eleven iterative, collaborative revisions from his peers and heroes.Â
I'm very excited to launch Turn, a collaborative exhibition platform. Twelve artists. Twelve exhibitions. One piece.
The first year-long series kicks off next week!
just revisited and reprogrammed the archive for Heptaparaparshinokh, a piece i made for violetstrays in 2011. it now represents the online installation as it happened in a more accurate way, with 92 billion versions available each load.
joerudko gave a talk at his alma mater today, discussing his project twoshelves, and an impromptu installation of left to your own devices happened!
Social Media and the Internet as a Medium Panel with Shaun Kardinal, Susie J. Lee, and Dylan Neuwirth, moderated by C. Davida Ingram
Social media is where we exchange information, make conversation, and meet each other. The possibilities for the visual arts presented by these media-based, virtual gathering places are explored in this panel discussion of the creative practice of three artists.

THANK YOU to everyone who came out and participated last night!
Visitors were verbally prompted to enter a URL into their mobile browser and then place the device anywhere on the shelves. The resulting installation, displaying a random array of video clips created for the piece, organically expanded and contracted throughout the night.
The show lives on, virtually everywhere. Visit relinquish.me on any number of mobile browsers, choose a screen orientation, then place your devices together to create your own unique installation!
Artist, curator, designer, and owner of Lundgren Monuments, Greg Lundgren, talks with Shaun Kardinal about beauty, yarn, and art’s place on and off the internet.

Two Shelves presents a new exhibition experience by multimedia artist Shaun Kardinal.
His first tangible show in 58 weeks, he is currently working primarily with Internet, where his recent projects juxtapose traditional exhibition formats with online presentation. Flying Formation, a digital collage series showcased on his Instagram account, garnered press and social media shout-outs from WIRED, Adobe, Tumblr and Feature Shoot. Feeling proud. Thanks wired!
Stoked to be see my work in the new issue of multimedia online publication MAKE8ELIEVE, featuring a great collection of work using month's theme: MOUNTAINS. Each issue comes in three parts: a digital magazine, a compilation of videos and a music mix.
Look for my postcards in the magazine and listen for a Brian Eno cover I did in 2006 in the music mix.Â
