I was debating pre- and post- smartphone existentialism with an older gentleman today and he stopped part way through and said “Why are you a security guard? Why aren’t you teaching this at some college somewhere?” And I didn’t know what to say so I went with “Well I used to make art but nobody pays an artist”

I want to invoke thought and wonder and introspection and encourage the passions of every soul I meet forever and ever and dig until I find the glorious potential for creation and experience and joy in every single one but unfortunately I must pay rent and so I stand, a meat shield, an NPC with unlockable dialogue

#capitalism brain tells you that anyone interesting must fight to the top of their interest#and precludes the possibility of everyone everyone everyone already being interesting

I don’t understand why people who cannot accept any moral grayness or complexity decide to join fandoms for the most emotionally complex stories and then try to shame everyone there who actually is able to understand the material.

dehumanization as horror is great and all but what about humanization as horror. Being forced into a role that was not made for you. Being forced to fulfill expectations that you can never achieve. Being made to exist in a society that so cruelly expects you to act in a way that is against your nature.

you can have multiple most gorgeous looking women giving performance of their lifetime in a movie or show yet people will still come out obsessing & wanting to fuck a white man with the personality of a wet cardboard

Imagine this you’re innocently scrolling through tumblr and you accidentally drop your phone on your face and it hits your nose and slides down your cheek and as you pick up your device and look at the screen you find that with the skin on your face you unintentionally stumbled upon the explore section and accidentally reblogged gaming youtuber shipping fanart and tagged it with the digits of your credit card expiration date and security code as well as your home address and your social security number

When I first made this post I had to reread it three times before posting to make sure I wasn’t doxxing myself by absentmindedly typing the actual numbers for those things instead of the general words which obviously I hadn’t but I still checked more than once

every time someones says "hey how are you" and i say "good" and forget to add the "how about you?" i feel like i've missed a quicktime event
