Gale's romance and just his route in general genuinely pains me because you can tell they did so much research into how suicidal people think, and it's devastating to see your own emotions reflected back at you. There are a lot of Gale moments that are genuinely gut-wrenching to me, because I've been there, and I know exactly how hard it is. This quote is one that really got me when I first encountered it:

That's exactly how I describe my own suicidal thoughts. Hell, then there was the answer during the dryad's love game:

This man is struggling with suicidal thoughts throughout the entire game. Tav/Durge literally brings him back from the edge, whether romancing him or by friendship.

And if Gale ends up deciding to explode so that all of you might live on a route where you romanced him, you get his note that makes me want to throw up:
