i’m sorry that you can’t accept that adults in a relationship with an age gap isn’t predatory, especially one of less than 8 years, especially when it’s very common among same sex couples. go do research. here’s some articles: x x x x x x there’s a lot more. these are just the first few results. by toting that relationships between adult gay men with age gaps are predatory, YOU are contributing to a homophobic stereotype.

All in all, we aren’t a part of your community, and if that makes us horrible.

Before I begin checking your sources, I’d like to say that just because something is commonly practiced, or seen often, does not make it right. This should be common sense. There are a lot of regions that allow (and are frequent / seen often) actual bestiality, the prosecution of LGBT individuals, and violent sexism, but that doesn’t make it right, no?

Now, on to your sources.

1. Your first article seems seems fine. However, I believe that lesbiananti was talking about older men / actual adults (25+) being in relationships with younger, barely legal men (18-24).

2. Like I said, just because it’s common, doesn’t make it right. The fact that your source also forces me to turn off Adblock before I even get the chance to read it kind of sucks. Next.

3. Quoting back to 2. Again, kind of sucks that you provide sources that make me have to turn off Adblock. Not to mention the fact that this site is just IRRITATING to look at, but that’s just me being nitpicky, I guess.

6. I don’t know what this source has to do with relationships with age gaps. This is just a survey about homophobia / transphobia and how they deal with it, general questions about homosexuality and transgenderism, and general questions that have to do with other things not revolving around the LGBT+ community. Unless I didn’t read something correctly, this doesn’t say anything about age gaps in relationships.

Before I get into MY sources, I’d like to add something. Since you like Sheith, this will make my explanation to you far easier. 

The transition towards adulthood is a gradual thing, but I generally think that the age gap is only okay if you’ve been given the same opportunities in life already. someone dating a man 2-3 years your senior, but you’re both in college? It can work. a college student closer to graduating, dating someone who has already graduated? that could also be fine. 10-15 years in difference when you’ve both entered the work space, don’t cross boss/employee lines, and have landed in life? I see no problem in that.

But, if we relate to… Sheith, for example, a 17 year old high school student  (Keith, I know he changed to be like 20 now, don’t @ me this still applies) and a 25 year old graduate student (Shiro)? No. Never. It cannot work, because the 25 year old has had 7 years of opportunities that the 17 year old hasn’t even been able to touch yet. Maturely (and biologically, I’ll get into that later with my sources), the 25 year old is light years ahead of the 17 year old, and the only reason he likes the 17 year old then is because he sees an opportunity to take advantage of his limited world view, and his nativity, and his trust.

Now, time for the real sources that don’t give people headaches or banish my adblock. (rip adblock :’O).

To put it short, the brain doesn’t stop fully maturing until you reach 25. This is why we fear for youth who go out for people much older than them. It really doesn’t matter how mature you are for your age, some age gaps are inherently, and always will be, no matter what, a power imbalance. (Aka, being predatory). 

Do I think 18-24 year olds can be mature? Yes, absolutely. Do I think 25+ year olds can be immature? Of course, happens all the time, even in our government. Do I think you’re old enough to make decisions when you’re 18? Yes, and I can’t stop you from doing what you’re doing, but don’t expect me to sit here and keep quiet while you guys make decisions that could really leave a negative impact on you and worse, many others.

I find it necessary to help young youth with these sort of topics, especially young youth that are in the LGBT community, because it seems like they have it the worst.

They all basically preach the same thing, but in case if you don’t want to read, while you may be a legal adult according to your countries laws, but you’re not a biological adult, and are more prone to failures than biological adults are. (and that really shouldn’t be a surprise, just look at the crime rates, drug abuse rates, etc)

Also, since I feel like you’re just going to say “oh well just bc they’re not biologically mature enough to be with someone 25+ doesn’t mean that their relationship is inherently predatory / bad!!””

Except it is, and there are many sources that prove this.

Also @gamesgeary-18 I completely understand the hatred with the anti community. Full offence but the anti community right now is a fucking mess, and I hope the anti community steps up their game. Death threats and attacks aren’t cool, and are never justified. Although, there’s a difference between being critical and harassing (which I do actually believe a lot of antis have crossed that line). I can’t really disagree with the anti community bullshit, but there are antis out there like me that want only want to have meaningful debates, and help people understand certain concepts. Not many though don’t @ me.

Also, I wanted to point this out because I thought it was kind of funny. (I’m not excusing some anti’s behavior, I agree that what they did was terrible)

Forgot a word in Spanish, while speaking Spanish to me, but remembered it in English. Became weirdly quiet as they seemed to lose their entire sense of identity.

Meant to inform her (French) parents that bread in America is baked with a lot of preservatives. Her brain was still halfway in English Mode so she used the word “préservatifes.” Ended up shocking her parents with the knowledge that apparently, bread in America is full of condoms.

Defined a slang term for me……. with another slang term. In the same language. Which I do not speak.
