I have the misfortune of switching between fandoms on a whim and while The Outsiders always grips me for longer than most things I had to step back for a bit(As you may have guessed I've been thrown back into Randy Cunningham at the moment). Based on the pose my headcannon is that this is when they first start working together and Randy tries to compare the fight to grave punchers or something and Rei’s just standing there in momentary confusion thanks to lack of modern knowledge.
My contribution to the Secret Ninja Exchange! I had the honor of drawing the lovely Ami Fujioka by @serena12queen and was inspired after looking at some references of older magazines.
I thought it'd be neat if Ami and Randy were asked to be on a cover together. And then I came up with an episode idea which I've summarized under the cut.
When Randy receives an invitation for the Ninja to be on the cover of the Norrisville Gazette it seems like a dream come true. He gets more recognition for the Ninja and it seems they even want to pair him up with his classmate Ami as an added bonus! But upon reading the fine print he realized the magazine is yet another subsidiary of McFist Industries, which means it's no doubt another attempt for McFist to try and kidnap him. But maybe he can turn the tables and use it as an excuse to snoop around McFist Industries, after all it's not like McFist is going to try and grab him while Ami is watching, the would ruin his reputation. All Randy has to do is make sure the focus stays on his enemy even if it seems that Ami can't take her eyes of him, not that he's complaning.
OC’s name/alias, species & occupation: Rei The Shadow Warrior Facsimile of a human teen. An anti-hero/antagonist turned ally
Appearance: See above for Warrior outfit, below read more for casual wear
Age, gender/pronouns, sexuality: Is older that they look due to being trapped in the Nomicon(haven't figured out just how old yet) but appears around 19, she/they, aro/ace
Personality: Cynical older sibling forced to see good in the world via optimist younger sibling i.e Randy. Is more of a watchful eye type, an extrovert
Likes and dislikes (including hobbies and similar): Enjoys the little things now that they have a body again. Is the type to stop and smell the roses. Likes egging on Debbie by giving her outlandish theories for the ninja. Halloween and all things spooky, thinks it's funny when people are scared Dislikes video games, doesn't see the appeal.
Notable Relationships: Nomicon- Despises for trapping them/still has a slight grudge against the ninja/ninja mask and what it represents. Randy- friend/sibling dynamic, helps remind them why they wanted to become a warrior in the first place/why they wanted to be like the ninja. Halloweenja-guard dog
Basic lore/backstory: They're the shadow warrior whose temple Randy keeps breaking into in the Nomicon. Essentially they were a civilian who was not picked to be the ninja but wanted to help out and was slowly corrupted by the magic of the shadow lands that they were using to fight against the sorcerer. Eventually ending up sealed inside the Nomicon until present day where Randy accidentally released them after another forbidden temple break in. Was originally a bit of an anti-hero, against the sorcerer but also against the ninja due to their past experience until the Nomicon gives Randy gets a lesson implying they can be redeemed so he tries to befriend and reintegrate the Shadow Warrior into society.
Extra Lore: Was a civilian who was not picked to be the ninja but still wanted to help. Unfortunately for Rei the first/easiest way they found to fight against the Sorcerer and his power was the siphon power from the shadow lands. But since it corrupts the user eventually what was once a quest to help protect Norrisville became a quest for power. They tried to fight it off, to continue to help the ninja, to share the tricks and magic they had learned with them despite the voices telling them to take the ninja's power for themselves. The nomicon tried to warn the ninja that the Shadow Warrior couldn't be trusted but they were ignored until it all came to a head and the Shadow Warrior ended up stealing the ninja mask. After getting it back the Ninja tricked the Warrior within the pages of the Nomicon where they were trapped, the Nomicon constructing a temple with the forbidden knowledge the Warrior had shared so it couldn't corrupt the new ninjas. That is until Randy started to poke around.
Additional information: 1-Fights with magic primarily and is able to infuse their sword with magic similar to fright knight from Danny Phantom where if they slice someone with it it conjures an image of their worst fear. 2-Can absorb the stank the sorcerer sends out but doing so in excess risks corrupting themselves again. 3-Randy helps cure her shadow magic corruption with art of healing

Alright bc I’ve been stuck morning the loss of the pro shot im combining two of my favorite musicals.
Next to Normal outsiders au, just picture it. Ponyboy after the fire keeps seeing Johnny(and maybe Dally too idk yet) and believing he’s still alive. While the rest of the gang try and get him to realize their gone. But at the same time they don’t want to hurt him because the kids been through enough.
Soda might fill in the role as Natalie bc he’s also going through a lot having lost his long time girlfriend but everyone’s focusing on Pony(which he understands) but it causes more grief in the long run

In which Ponyboy the track star does not stop running to grab his best friend. He runs as fast and as far as his legs can take him until he eventually collapses all alone in a forgotten park. Alone and feeling adrift when he hears the familiar sound of a mustang revving its engine, too tired to run and with no one to help him Ponyboy is stuck facing drunk socs who only want to hurt him.

Early morning flight means early morning ramblings
I think Pony at one point or another definitely feels anxiety over Johnny’s last message to ‘stay gold’. Because he grows older and he’s still a greaser. And things happen to people like Mark and Bryon, and he wonders how he can stay gold with all this tragedy that seems to follow him.
And he goes to college, and maybe he drinks too much too fast. And as the world spins around him he wonders whether Johnny feels disappointed in him because how can being drunk be staying gold.
And of course Johnny wouldn’t think less of him, not with Two-Bit as one of his friends. But Johnny isn’t here and all Pony has left of him is the words he left behind. A promise to stay gold even though growing older makes him feel like the gold is slipping through his fingers. Dawn giving way to a day he’s not sure he can make it through.
Took me a bit cause I’m actively packing right now but the correct answer to how many copies of the outsiders I own is 14 (you could argue 13 because one of these is the play script but I digress)

Something about Scout being a facsimile for Johnny to both the story and to Pony personally. Who sees this girl with dark hair and dark eyes with parents who beat her, and all he can think about is the best friend he couldn’t save.
And he knows it’s not fair to Scout to compare them, that she’s her own person and that no one could replace Johnny. But sometimes when he wakes up and sees her sleeping on their couch because it’s safer than going home, his first thought is that Johnny stayed over again.
