Times of the Day
It is inspired by Mucha’s series of the same name :D Glad I finally got to give my queens a fancy art treatment 8) I love art nouveau so much, and Alphonse Mucha is one of my biggest inspirations. I hope you like it!

We need to talk about the fact that some gay men think that just because they're gay they're allowed to say the most misogynistic thing possible without someone calling them out
"Oh but some women are homophobic" and I'm gonna call them out too. The same way I will tell off a person for being transphobic even if they're POC or I will berate a trans person if they're racist regardless of anything. Facing discrimination doesn't give anyone the right of being a bigot.
Commission for Steven! A brand new addition to a series of RWBY pirate drawings. The fabulous pirate lady, Glynda Goodwitch ✨ Here's the requested outfit reference (check it out, it's gorgeous). Other pirate-themed drawings sponsored by Steven (commissions and Boosty requests): Nora, James Ironwood, Arslan, Scarlet, Yang.

Do you have any tips for time management?
I usually don’t know what day it is
Hello! I hope you're doing well!
There's a video of yours that I can't find at the moment, it might've been a Q&A, but in it you said something to the effect of "shame is a widely useless emotion" and I found it really helpful at the time what you said. Would you mind expounding on that sentiment, if it is one you still hold, that I and others might have it for reference in times where it is needed?
Oh sure, ask the guy with ADHD to remember anything he's said! Ableist!
(this is a joke. I am joking about my disability.)
What I mean when I say something like that, though, is that I believe that shame is an extremely limited instrument. The only thing it is really good at is causing a kind of mental pain that prevents you from repeating a behaviour.
This is useful for some things—one should generally feel ashamed of harming other people, for example. But the trouble with shame is that, once it has provided the pain of itself, it doesn't really have anything else to offer.
If you harm someone and you feel ashamed of it, while that feeling is appropriate, the shame doesn't really offer you any useful way to address the harm you have done. At most, shame has a tendency to prompt us to seek punishment for our misdeeds (or, more commonly, prompt us to hide our misdeeds for fear of punishment), but there is nothing in that emotion that offers a way to make actual amends, limit or undo your harm, or even learn to do better in the future. All the feeling tells you is "THAT WAS BAD AND YOU ARE BAD BECAUSE YOU DID IT!", which, even if it is accurate, is not constructive or especially useful. Making amends, addressing your harm and learning to do better, these things all require many different tools and feelings, like empathy and care and responsibility and self-respect. Shame alone teaches you almost nothing.
Thus, shame is an absolutely dogshit motivator for getting in shape or taking care of your health, for example. If the reason you are exercising or eating better is because you feel intense shame about your weight or your body shape, then 1) exercising is going to be absolutely miserable because all you are doing is running away from a horrible painful feeling you can't deal with and 2) any "failure" to exercise (skipping a day, being too tired, not doing enough reps, not hitting step counts, whatever) becomes yet another source of shame which just makes you feel even more miserable, and the cycle compounds.
Compare and contrast with exercising out of an earnest love for your body, and a desire to nurture and strengthen it, out of curiosity to find out how you can change it or the desire to learn a new physical skill or sport, or just out of a neutral, practical acceptance that you have some condition or need that requires exercise as part of the treatment.
Shame is similarly absolutely bottom-of-the-barrel shitfucking garbage at motivating people to express themselves. Shame will drive you away from art, away from poetry, away from literature and song and, oh my god, especially from dance. It will drive you away from anything that requires you to in any way make yourself vulnerable, because the fear of shame and the pain that comes with it makes vulnerability even more terrifying.
Shame, generally, is a feeling that wants you to shrink into yourself and disappear forever. It's a feeling that wants you to be less in the world.
Shame has a place and a use, it exists in us for several evolutionary reasons, same as anything, it has a function in our social structures. But it is a limited instrument. It is good for a very, very small number of things, and when it is misapplied to almost literally anything else, all it does it make everything worse and everyone more miserable.
That's what I think, anyway.
I’m gonna go back to walking on soft grass after this!
But hey, you can see more content about my training and other stuff here

Only one person has bought my Anti-Fascist BL sticker, meanwhile the Anti-Fascist Yuri sticker was a hot seller. 🤔
Unless a lot of fujoshis prove me wrong (by buying some stickers), I'll be forced to assume that BL lovers are more fascist than yuri fans. 😢 Don't let me down, fujos...

US Book ban on LGBTQIA books
The nationwide book ban bill, HR 7661, has progressed out of committee and into the House. Here's what you need to know to take action.
At least hit the shiny repost button if you're going to do nothing else. This should not stand.
Stop the bill dead in its tracks. LGBTQIA people have a right to be represented in books.
Ok, new TADC dropped, we're all going through it, but I have a theory!
What if the Circus was originally developed by Scratch to be a medical system? So we got a lot of information from Kinger as to the origins of Caine and the Circus. We know that C&A was making "creative AI" that could make it's own ideas. Caine, which we learn was not his original name, was their first semi-successful attempt. He was created at least partially by Kinger, but he mentioned that he got some pointers by someone named Scratch.
We don't know much about Scratch, but Kinger mentions that his ideas were so abstract and advanced that the rest of the team couldn't really make heads or tails from them. We learn that he had a tumor in his head, and that he was trying to build something, but Kinger can't remember what.
Interestingly, we first hear about Scratch in Episode 7. When Jax is accusing Caine of altering their minds, Caine claims that he only makes small temporary modifiers for the sake of the adventures, but nothing more as making any greater changes could be bad. This prompts Kinger to mention Scratch, saying he was the first of the Circus's residents to abstract. It has been a long-standing theory of the community that the trapped humans within the Circus aren't the original humans, but instead AI's created from mentals scans of those who put on the headset. This is more or less supported by the implication that, when Pomni talked about exploring the abandoned C&A office, she made no mention of finding the bodies of those plugged into the Circus. Whatever the headset does, it doesn't leave an unconcious body behind. However, what if that's what Scratch was working on? What if Scratch created some kind of device that was able to digitize an entire human, body and all and bring it into the digital world Tron-style? My theory is that Scratch was trying to make a way to digitize his body so that he could safely get the tumor removed from his brain. Brain tumors don't tend to be the safest thing to operate on, to my knowledge, but that changes in the digital world. Unfortunately for Scratch (and ultimately everyone at C&A), it wasn't ready yet. Maybe he didn't have to time to wait, maybe the tumor was advancing to rapidly, but by the time he stuck himself into the Circus, the AI running it was an imperfect prototype that had just consumed its upgraded model for fear of becoming obsolete, but Scratch had no choice. He digitized himself, asked Caine to alter his brain so that he no longer had a tumor, only for it all to go wrong, leading to hi own abstraction. Scratch was trying to make a device that could save his life, but in the end all he did was create a prison for not only himself, but for all that might put on the headset
as a denizen of this busted ass website for half my life now i do know how staff works and i’m going to lay out what they think will happen as someone who has witnessed this exact thing play out
People get very mad for a few days and then roll over and accept the change to the enclosure. This is what they are betting on. They have had meetings about this.
Getting around it: set an alarm. Get mad not just now, but in a few days, a week, two weeks. They are expecting people to sigh and get over this very odd edit to the site in a few days. Keep flooding them for more than just tonight. Be mad for the week, for the month. Leave a message every day.
like . I cant even blame them for being like “we’ll monitor for the week”. Remember when they changed the blue back in like 2015? This website acted like staff had gone into their house and shot their dog. We’re here because we’re allergic to change and therefore it’s hard to parse if people hate the change because it’s bad or because we go into thermonuclear meltdown over what color blue the background of the website is. Just continue to bug them beyond today and beyond this week.
Another "for later" step I'd recommend is, once the changes are out in the mobile app (NOT YET), leave a one star review on the app store and mention why. If the rating goes down significantly, that provides quantitative evidence that people do not want this change and it's a bad idea.
did you know that Friday 13th was meant to be a really good lucky day meant for fucking because it was dedicated to Freyja, the goddess of love and fertility and the patron goddess of Fridays
but then Christianity found out about it and were like “Fucking???? outside of marriage????? NO NO NO!!!” and decided it was a horrible terrible bad unlucky day and you need to be super careful of everything you do in case you die or some shit.
so thanks Christians for ruining everyone’s fucking fun
Petition to bring back Friday the FUCKteenth.
Happy fuckteenth
I love how every Friday the 13th this BLATANTLY UNTRUE post goes around. Happy Making Shit Up Friday everyone!!!

so ive worked in childcare for a bit now. during the pandemic, the place i worked started a day program for kids whose parents needed to return to work. turns out the school district uses memorization and cueing, and when combined with online learning that read all the instructions to them, overwhelmingly the kids aged 5-9 just... couldnt read.
i brought in a bunch of my books from childhood, and we started having one-on-one reading lessons with the littles. then i went out and bought about fifty more books secondhand. first step was covering the pictures so the kids couldnt guess what the words said and had to actually TRY reading them first. second step was making a list of new words for each kid so we could learn about those words, what they meant, and if the kids were old enough, some of the etymology behind them (because if you can recognize latin root words, it's easier to make connections for pronunciation later on eg. unicorn -> universe).
the kids HATED this. reading was previously the easiest class and now it was really, really hard. but reading class had also previously been the most boring class; their books were ten pictures with a single sentence on the opposite page. we got through it by taking turns reading books the kids picked out from my collection- they would read one sentence or paragraph, then i would read the whole page complete with funny voices, then it would be their turn again, etc. it turns out that if kids are motivated to hear the rest of a good story or a lot of information about a topic they love, they're more willing to struggle.
the kids improved so rapidly that i honestly almost cried a few times from how proud i was. one little girl (kindergarten aged) went from being unable to sound out the whole alphabet to reading goodnight moon by herself in two months :'>
all this, though, was NOT my job. my job was to keep the kids on task during their online schooling and prevent them from killing each other or starving. i am not a teacher. the school system was failing these kids to the degree that outside individual reading lessons were necessary, and school systems across the US are still doing this!
if you are a parent or teacher or childcare worker, PLEASE check to see what your kid is being taught. ask to see examples of lesson materials. raise concerns about the importance of phonics over any other reading strategy. join the pta, go to school board meetings, send emails- just make sure your kid is actually learning to read.

That awkward moment when you walk in on your date rearranging someone else's guts
Video games kinda suck at designing female heroes
In 2002, the photographer Howard Schatz published a photo collection called "Athlete" featuring pictures of, well, various top athletes from every sport and genre. These are some of the women he photographed, and the thing I want you to do in your head is compare the variety of humans that you're seeing here to the variety of humans you see in the cast list of your favourite video games.
These women are all in peak human condition for their fields - if you wanted to design a character who is tough and strong, these are the kinds of bodies you should look to for reference on what that looks like. You tell me how many video games or comics or movies or anime create their characters with even this limited variety in shape and size.
Of course, realism is not the end-all and be-all, fantasy characters don't need to be realistic, but if you are given the chance to make a character look like literally anything and justify it by "magic," and the only thing you do is reproduce the same 3 or 4 generically hot women over and over again, you are doing character design very poorly, in my opinion.
