- warnings: not proof read
Summary: After a exhausting a day of studying, robby comes back home. When he walked in he heard a rustle coming from his room, which happened to be his best friend Jack Abbot sleeping in his bed. Abbot comforts Robby and forces him to relax until they both fall asleep.
A/N: first time posting my writing, it took me a bit and I dont exactly like it... but anyways, I hope you enjoy!
Robby was exhausted and irritated, hours of studying and connecting the dots to symptoms like it was a children's activity.
He walked into his apartment, which was on the college grounds. And gosh, it was quiet, but at this point, he didn't mind. He just wanted a shower and to melt into the bed. His mind was already feeling fuzzy at the pure thought of being in his bed, the heated blanket set at the warmest setting.
He felt this nagging thought that he was being watched, and then he heard it. A rustle, the sound coming from his bedroom.
"Hello?" Robby called out as he slowly stepped towards his bedroom, his hands curled into fists as he peeked into the pitch-black room.
"Mnh..." A whine came from the room, a familiar whine.
Robby's brows furrowed, and he stepped into the doorway and flicked the light switch on, which presented Jack Abbot.
Jack Abbot is a very good friend of his, but also a friend who shouldn't be able to get into his home without a key.
"What are you doing?" Robby asked with crossed arms, watching as Jack stirred awake and stretched.
It took Jack a moment to come back to reality, his eyes slowly looking around the newly lit-up room, and when he saw Robby, his eyes widened, and he jumped up into a sitting position with a yelp.
"Robby!" Jack blurted out, staring at Robby in shock.
Robby was surprised at Jack's reaction and couldn't help but quietly chuckle as he stepped closer to his bed.
"What are you doing?" He repeated with a grin, even if he was scared of how Jack got in, the sight was hilarious.
Jack ran a hand through his hair and frowned. "I'm in your bed," he stated. "What does it look like?"
Robby let his arms drop and he rubbed his hand over his face. "No, how did you get in?" he asked. "You don't have a key."
Jack stared up at him and then moved to lay back down. "Your door was unlocked," he said with a shrug.
"That isn't a valid—!" Robby stopped himself and let out a heavy breath. "That isn't a valid reason."
Jack shrugged again and made himself comfortable in Robby's bed, turning on his side away from him and curling around the blanket that lay over him.
Robby groaned and kicked off his shoes, not really caring where they landed. He walked around to the other side of his bed and sat down, the dip of the bed causing Jack to shift.
"What'd you do today?" Jack asked as he watched Robby move around.
Robby glanced back at him as he shrugged off his jacket and threw it onto the chair in front of him. "I checked in on my parents, had brunch with them, and then spent the rest of my day at the library." He explained while he pulled off his pants and let them sink to the floor as his legs were pulled out.
Jack slowly nodded his head as he listened to Robby. "Do you want to know what I did today?" He asked.
Robby turned fully so now his legs lay on the bed. "Not really, no," he spoke, glancing at Jack. Letting himself lay down.
His eyes closed and he slowly relaxed, the tension in his shoulders starting to loosen as he lay there. As he lay there, he felt the familiar warmth of the heated blanket.
"Do you have the heated blanket on?" he asked Jack, letting one of his eyes open to look over at Jack, who happened to still be staring at him.
Jack glanced off to the side and back at Robby. "My dorm is cold, and you happen to have the best bed ever, and I figured you wouldn't care that I snuck in."
Robby hummed and turned on his side and opened his other eye so he was face to face with Jack. "Well, you're using it to its full extent," he replied. "How long have you been here?"
Jack's eyes trailed over Robby's face; he could see the eye bags, the heavy eyes that were ready to close.
"Only for a few hours," he muttered, letting his hand reach out to hold Robby's bicep. "You look like you're going to fall asleep soon." He chuckled, a small smile on his face.
Robby froze at the touch, but he forced himself to relax. "You look like a cat," was the only thing he could think of as an insult.
Which was true: when he had turned the lights on, Jack was sprawled out, fully content under the blanket.
Jack raised a brow but didn't say anything, and he scooted closer, slowly wrapping his arms around Robby's waist.
Robby froze again, his eyes wide as he watched Jack. "I—" He didn't know what to say.
"I think you just need to relax," Jack spoke softly, letting his hand rub up and down Robby's back.
He knew Robby wasn't used to his touch or anyone's touch, but he knew he deserved it, especially on days like this.
He shifted up and let Robby's head lay on his chest, his free hand moving up to pet his hair.
Robby's hair was soft; probably the one thing he loved to do was run his hands through it.
Robby stayed still; he was too scared to move. It was as if he moved, then he'd ruin the moment.
"I know what I need," he stated, his hands curling into the back of Jack's shirt. "And it isn't this."
Jack raised a suspicious brow and continued his touch. "Mhm, yeah." He didn't believe him; Robby had no idea what to do for himself.
He let out a heavy sigh and closed his eyes; the sound of the cars honking outside was not helping the mood at all.
"I saw Dana today; she was using me as a test subject." He shook his head dramatically.
That piqued Robby's interest, and he raised a brow, his eyes starting to drift shut.
"Hm? How so?" He questioned, wondering how Dana used him as a "test subject."
Jack let out a dramatic sigh, his shoulders falling. "She wanted to practice talking to patients," he started. "And it ended up with her yelling at me because I was 'being difficult'."
That gained a tired giggle from Robby, the corner of his lips curling up in a smile.
"And I believe it," he spoke quietly, and unconsciously nuzzled into Jack's chest.
Jack's brows furrowed and he let out a huff. "Okay... you weren't even there! You don't know how it went."
"I can imagine it," Robby stated. He knew that Jack was probably being an asshole, talking too much and never giving an answer.
Jack grumbled something inaudible under his breath and pulled Robby on top of him as he turned onto his back.
Robby's eyes opened up wide and he sat up until he was able to look down at Jack. "What are you doing?" He asked with furrowed brows.
Jack smiled and he pulled Robby back down towards his chest. "You don't know how to relax, so I'm going to force you to." He explained. "Simple as that."
He let his hand continue petting through Robby's hair, and his other hand rubbing his back.
Robby was irritated but it died down as he let himself take it in, to let Jack soothe him into the vulnerability he never dared to let anyone see him as.
Jack watched Robby quietly, watched as his eyes closed and his body relaxed on top of him.
"Just like that." He spoke calmly, and he felt himself starting to relax. "It doesn’t hurt, does it?"
Robby rolled his eyes at that and nuzzled into his chest again.
He could feel the exhaustion creep back in, and it made him slowly go limp, his breathing starting to slow down.
Jack noticed that Robby was starting to fall asleep, but he didn't say anything and just let it happen.
Minutes rolled by, and Robby hadn't moved or spoken, nor did Jack expect the comforting touch of his hands on him.
"Goodnight, Robby," he whispered, letting himself start to succumb to sleep.
