so, harvey's shirts fit mike, but you can still notice the little details. if mike's wearing one of his button downs or t-shirts, the shoulders drape over his and make his sleeves an inch or so too big. they just barely go past his waist, and the overall fit is just a bit off. his clothes don't engulf him, rather dangle off of him. only noticable if someone's really paying attention

if—on the rare occasion—harvey wears one of mike's shirts, they fit basically like a compression shirt. again, length is not much of an issue, but its a size or two short. they hug his arms, shoulders and waist—not necessarily cutting off blood supply, but just enough that if he wears it for too long it might become uncomfortable

harvey thoroughly enjoys spending. his fast cars that shake the ground when he starts them, his high-rise penthouse gives him full access to the NYC skyline, the suits he models for rene. everything. he says its a testament to him as a man and what he's worked hard for. he works so, he gets to be the epitome of lavish

mike, on the other hand, finds it dreadful. all hes known is frugality. the idea that money spent on fun equals money down the drain. subconsciously, he could never afford most things. he wont give himself the space to do so once he gets his paycheques in the mail

harvey steps in. paying for mike's rookie dinner? thats okay, it WAS an expensive joint. paying for his suits? well, it looks odd to most but rene is a professional! he just needs mike to look good for the firm.

lending mike the company card? wow, since when did pearson hardman begin hiring cheapskates...

and sure, the both of them make excuses. the company card only goes to purchases for cases, nothing more.

but the one that no one tracks?? the personal card? centurion american express, dark as the night and so sharp it could cut either one of them... maybe they just felt like ordering late-night dinner. for a case, that is!!

and then; a celebratory dinner between two friends. harvey pays the check before mike could even think to haggle with his employer

mike raises his concerns. he appreciates the gestures, truly he does. he gets to have the fun he's dreamed without it biting his wallet. he gets to be... free

but!! he can't mooch off of harvey. he's not dickhead-who-shall-not-be-named

harvey quickly—too quickly—shuts him down. mike should know by now that harvey's a high-roller through and through. it being for mike is just cuz his subordinate has yet to stabilize his finances. plus, an associates money alone cannot afford the pearson hardman aesthetic

and none of them will acknowledge the way mike eyes harvey's hands sifting through his wallet whenever he pulls out bills. the way they stare at each other when harvey hands mike his cards. especially that centurion

mike gets a tear in one of the suitjackets a month or so later. at this point, harvey practically shoves the amex against mike's chest and then forces him to go to rene's. makes him send a picture of the new one too
