The Leviathan

[Commissioned by @annotaremonstrorum​. I’ve talked about d20 Modern’s category of “fiends” before, and how they don’t play super nicely with evil outsiders in either D&D or Paizo’s categories. So the question arose of how to convert them when I got a whole bunch, this time from the D20 Modern Menace Manual. The commissioner suggested I make the kwevencha a non-demon Abyssal outsider, and a servitor species of Mazmezz the Creeping Queen. I looked into Mazmezz, and in Book of the Damned bebiliths take that “favored servitor” role… and have a fun relationship with her where she ignores and makes excuses for them hunting and killing demons. So I went with a Plan B here: an embodiment of arachnophobia. It’s a little redundant with the wihsaak sahkil, but as any bug loving eight year old can tell you, spiders are not insects.]

Sahkil, Kwevencha CR 7 NE Outsider (extraplanar) This creature looks something like a mammoth spider, but it has two pairs of hatchet-like mandibles, and its front set of legs is modified into wicked hooks. It has a cluster of eight forward-facing eyes. Its skin ripples and bulges as smaller spiders crawl over, into and through its bulbous abdomen.

A kwevencha is a sahkil embodying arachnophobia. The long legs and staring eyes of spiders inspire more than their fair share of fear, and kwevenchas have impossible anatomies that combine the worst traits of spiders of all kinds. They can reach into the minds of giant spiders and steer their actions, and areas with especially active monstrous spiders may have a kwevencha pulling the strings.

In combat, a kwevencha prefers to attack from ambush whenever possible. It maintains range for a few rounds with its impressive mobility, only descending to melee when enemies are entangled in webs, weakened from poisonous spurs spit from its mouth, or both. Those that succumb to the look of fear of a kwevencha feel the sensation of creeping and crawling along their flesh. The body of a kwevencha is covered in a skittering carpet of spiders, which help to protect it from attacks and punish those that would dare strike it. These can be temporarily destroyed by area of effect spells, leaving the monster vulnerable while it regenerates its shield.

Kwevenchas are somewhat stupid, but clever enough to be dangerously full of themselves. Their plans to spread fear and misery are often overly complex and filled with multiple interlocking layers, like a spider’s web. Any minion that dares point out the flaws in a kwevencha’s designs is consumed as an example to others. They often work with monstrous arachnids of all types, ettercaps, and lesser sahkils. They never work with wihsaaks, and attempt to eat them or disrupt their plans whenever possible.

[Commissioned by @arachcobra​. This is the second of the Metzelei conversions; see my first, Geweih Metzelei, here. Bloom Metzelei is the one of the four that most closely resembles an existing Pathfinder monster, the alraune, so I used that as a basis for the statistics. ]

Shinryaku-sha, Bloom Metzelei CR 19 LE Plant This creature has the head, arms and torso of a beautiful human woman, albeit with green skin, growing from the center of a massive flower. Growing from her head, along with purple hair, are two braided vines ending in scorpion-like stingers, and she crawls along on five thick tentacles. Hooks and thorns extend from her flower, and a sweet scent fills the air around her.

Bloom Metzelei is the second strongest of the Metzelei, elite units in the shinryku-sha armies. She was once native to a planet in a runaway ice age. The planet was thawed by Geweih Metzelei in a show of strength, and its various creatures submitted willingly to the shinryaku-sha. Out of loyalty and respect to her rescuer, she joined his side, and is now a deadly agent of interplanetary conquest in her own right. 

The anatomy and physiology of Bloom Metzelei is similar to that of an alraune, although she is much more powerful. Bloom Metzelei lacks the calming presence of an alraune, but can breathe paralytic pollen and dominate the minds of creatures of all kinds. In addition to the lashing wounds dealt by her tentacles, her stingers can extend surprising distances and inflict a curse that silences creatures. Cold effects slow her, as a legacy of her close call with a frozen death, and she targets enemies capable of using cold effects first and foremost.

Bloom Metzelei loves plant creatures of all types, and views them as her children to be coddled and adored. By force, if necessary. Bloom Metzelei makes for a talented general, as she supplements her hordes with magical enhancements and turns their foes into friends, even if only for a short while. The flesh and blood of sentient creatures is her preferred food. She especially enjoys feeding on creatures of unusual skill and power, and goes out of her way to find such foes to challenge, enslave and eventually consume.

“A long time ago there was a man, a powerful Sheikah, in this very village who had an eye they said could see the truth. Now usually you have to train your mind’s eye most strenuously to actually see the truth… But this fella, no, they say he had a different way of doing things. What was revealed to him by his eye turned him mad and he killed several people. The Sheikah then executed him and added the tear on the Sheikah symbol.”

I didn’t mean to post this initially, it’s an example of experimental drawing I do when I have an art block, I’m unsatisfied with my art or both. Though I spent so much time on it it would be a shame to let it rotten in my pc. Also pink because pink is the colour of all that’s evil.
