We took a little drive a while ago trying to find Mt. Abel #campground, and ended up finding a group of people with their #telescopes at the top of Mt. Pinos. My hubby's really into #astronomy and the #weather so this was a pretty cool #discovery. He talked to a man up there and this group meets up there to camp and starwatch every New Moon. I told my hubby he should pack up his telescope and get up there to join in with likeminded folk. Forget about me, the critters and the house...just go have fun! We also discovered this huge amazing campground called #McGill Campground - it was beautiful, clean and very pretty. I couldn't believe how many #tents and #RV's were up there. Must be getting a headstart on Memorial Day weekend. We also found another really awesome campground about 10 minutes down the road. We hit the jackpot today - only about 15-20 miles from our house. My girlfriend shared a Facebook memory with me a few days ago. It was this picture I'd taken of the pond in the early morning hours. When she looked up photos of Frazier Park, this photo came up 😊 I rather enjoy photography. I especially love to photograph nature, and animals, specifically our critters. This particular photo is one of my very best, and I love looking at it. I remember that morning several years ago. It was quiet and peaceful. I think the whole town was still asleep, LOL. I just heard the birds chirping and the ducks and mud hens in the water. The sun was just starting to come up. Today we saved a baby blue jay that a big black crow was trying to get. I'm incredibly sad though, because after we found the first baby and my hubby revived him, I later found the second baby, who didn't make it. I've named him or her, Baby Jay. As soon as I spotted it, I rushed to the rescue. As my hands picked it up ever so gently, I could feel the warmth of its little body, even on its tiny feet. I tried to breathe air into its little lungs, as a fumbling attempt to provide lifesaving oxygen. I tried very gentle chest compressions. Baby Jay didn't move. I felt no breath. Saw no rise and fall of it's little breast. I wept. We buried Baby Jay near the spot where he had fallen from the nest. I dug the hole with tears in my eyes. My hubby made a tiny cross out of branch pieces, and I held it while he lashed it together with an old shoelace, trying to hold back my tears. Somber, solemn. Reminded of how quickly life can be extinguished. A second chance at life, and a tragic death...all in one moment of time...both so very fragile, innocent, and precious.
