The touch to his cheek was… something that Kayn was still growing used to. He didn’t quite lean into it, but he didn’t move away either. It was an internal thing, the way he urged himself to stay put and accept the gentle hand against him. 

He felt silly sometimes, for finding such simple things uncomfortable. Especially when he saw how easily Kai and Valmar fell into each other’s loving touches, it brought a sense of embarrassment for himself. Why was that so hard for him…?

He never voiced these things, however. His progress was brought on by himself alone, by pushing himself to relax and accept. His smile remained, and Kayn even managed to move a hand to gently hold Kai’s wrist. 

Kai leaned forward to kiss him once more, a soft chuckle leaving his lips. “He is. It is a bit lonely without him, always is, but it won’t be for long. Besides, I have you don’t I?” He grinned and let his hand fall from Kayn’s face, allowing him some space as he pulled out a book he had borrowed from Kayn’s library before leaving the last time her came.
