Summary:

The battle of Taxue Palace changed everything. With Chu Wanning dead, there was no longer a reason for Taxian-jun to show mercy to his wayward cousin. Or any mercy at all.

When one had no reason to live, one no longer feared any consequences.

The Emperor's ferocity reached a new height. The imperial harem of Wushan Palace grew exponentially with the Emperor's war prizes turned concubines, each flower more beautiful than the last, bolstering his might against the rebel army. With Guyue'ye's illusion technique returning the shade of Chu Wanning to Taxian-jun's arms, Taxian-jun clung to his tyranny, slaughtering the remainder of the cultivation world, drenching the earth in blood, piling the bones into mountains as he had always done.

There was no hope for this broken world but for the Emperor's most favored concubine, the former leader of Guyue'ye, the grandmaster of those illusions that Taxian-jun could not relinquish.
