I remember watching it, having no idea what was going to happen, and we get the scene with Brienne defending Jaime to Sansa and Dany and I thought - wow, this is TOP TIER J/B content, I’m so happy. But they weren’t done.

Then we got Jaime leaving Tyrion to go stare at Brienne from a distance and I thought - this is going in a vid someday because damn. But they weren’t done.

THEN Jaime goes up to her and asks to fight under her command and there are significant pauses and HEART EYES and I thought - WHEW PUT A FORK IN ME this is all I ever wanted. But they were not done!

Because THEN Jaime leaps to his feet when she comes into the great room and pulls out a chair for her and keeps a close eye on her when Tormund arrives and it’s all so beautiful and chivalrous and on top of everything else we’d already received this episode it felt like whip cream and a cherry on top of an already sumptuous dessert.

BUT THEY STILL WERE NOT DONE.

Arise, Brienne of Tarth: a Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

I love this scene. I've literally watched it like 2984825 times. The soundtrack? Breathtaking The composition? Beautiful. THE FUCKING ACTING? I have no words.

“You haven’t visited the Maester yet, have you?” Brienne asks.

“Oh come now,” Jaime just shrugs, looking up at her with a boyish grin, “you’ve seen me worse.”

Her blue eyes are shining, brimming with life and for a second he feels a mad abandon. She is alive. So is he.

He should just fucking kiss her.

wrote this initially as a one-shot which just snowballed into a s8 fix-it where Jaime makes an important choice, Arya comes back to Winterfell, Sansa is Queen in the North and Brienne too, must choose.

Somewhere far, far away, there was a knocking sound. Three raps against a door; a chair banging against stone. Jaime didn’t care. Whoever, whatever, could wait. The sun was streaming in through crimson drapes, and Jaime lay upon fresh sheets with his hand on Brienne’s hip. She was warm through the fabric of her shift; his thumb drawing slow circles on her skin. Brienne pressed her face into the pillows; her smile just visible above the linens. Every so often she would close those blue eyes and sigh, as if this moment was the best of her life. Jaime knew that feeling well. Lying beside her, the whole world behind a locked door, was the best of his.

Chapter 35: Beginnings

“You can’t be serious,” Brienne says, when he tells her in bed the next night. “You want to uproot this entire family again, after we’ve spent this long settling in—”

“We’re hardly settled in, wife, even though it’s been almost a year, and the kids aren’t happy—”

“They need stability, Jaime.”

“Damn it, Brienne, this isn’t stability. It’s barely a home, and you know it.”

She doesn’t respond. He knows she knows he’s right.

“You’re telling me,” he says, reaching over to grasp her hand, “that given a choice, you wouldn’t want to live on an island again? Surrounded by the sea?”

She retracts her hand, though he sees a flash of yearning in her eyes. “You’re not playing fair.”

“How about this,” he grins, and wraps her in his arms, “we bring the whole family over for a weekend, go see this house, make a trip out of it?”

Brienne fixes him with a pointed stare. “And we won’t make a decision without consulting the whole family.”

“We won’t.”
